    Many interesting lenses that I've never seen before but man... the "swirly bokeh" of HELIOS 40 is phenomenal!
    It gives a great cinematic look to the footage. You made me want to buy one!

    • @piotr433
      @piotr433 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@weplaywax I agree with you, I have this lens and for me, this swirly bokeh is maybe good just for a few weird shots. In a long run it's very distracting and makes it hard to separate an object from a background. But closed to f/4 it the bokeh becomes really nice and silky.

      Buy the 44-2 and see if you love it. Then get the 40. I have a very early 00 numbered 40 and love it, but I also have a dozen or more 44-2 that all play different.

    The Helios 40 85mm ant the Jupiter 11 lenses are the must have one. Helios 40 price is crazy now. About the TT Artisans, I have had a chance to put it into a test, at full wide open and to catch some flare. In your channel, we discuss about bokeh and flare. And this one, seems like to be missing character at flaring and bokeh. Each video of yours is "oh boy, let's see what we have for new " :)

    Hey Mathieu. Great video as usual. I am once again bothering you about the cyanotype on map. I would really appreciate it if you could describe your process briefly. Thanks again!

    • @MathieuStern
      @MathieuStern  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Noted!
      well it's so simple I dont really have a tutorial, you take a vintage paper map from 1970 , you apply the cyanotype solutions in the dark like in my cyanotype video.
      you wait for it to dry, you place your negative and you expose to UV lights.
      develop in water.
      to be honest the only difference with normal cyanotype is that you use maps and not white paper.

    Hi Mathieu)) thanks again for amazing video, I loved the adaptation of projector lens. Mathieu have you tried any of Mamiya 645 lenses? The M645 45mm f2.8 N on the 35mm FF has a look similar to mentioned here Jupiter-11 with shorter focal length of 72mm (f4 for DoF) and even more sharp and 3D on full open 2.8 (f4 for FF DoF), and if you buy tilt/shift adapter you always have tilt/shift option with you. I sold my Jupiter-11 because of this Mamiya option. Now looking to get and add Mamiya 80mm f1.9 to the same adapter.

    The Helios lense is the only one that i would get, as you said in your video title, it's all about lens style, not the effects, some of those lenses don't look special, they just look like inferior semi modern lenses (in their image quality). But the Helios in particular, it's like recording dreams, i love their looks, i'll probably try to get one for a future camera, because i don't believe i could adapt it to a EF-M mount. The Jupiter lens is also very unique.

    Excellent !
    Dans la famille des objectifs de projection, j'ai un Astro-kino-color 75mm 1.6, je crois qu'on n'a jamais fait mieux ! (films 16 mm, donc aps-c max)
    Pour le monter c'est simple : un tube inox (∅48,5mm) coupé à la bonne longueur, dans lequel on colle un feutre adhésif. Le tube est coincé dans une bague step-down 52 to 49, et termine par une bague d'inversion 52mm to nex. Le feutre permet à l'objectif de glisser doucement dans le tube.
    Le résultat est très desing, et la mise au point on ne peut plus douce !
    Et bien sûr, bokeh de folie, mise au point de 30 cm à l'infini, et couleurs somptueuses !
