      My theory is that it's just our brain trying to play trick with us, our brain likes to make humanoid objects from anything and then after creating a humanoid avatar in our mind we think it's a person but it's not. So it starts us to make feel unease or uncomfortable, it is a uncanny valley effect.

    The boltzmann brain theory is one that has always had me thinking since i was a toddler. Literally I genuinely believed that when I was three. It's like all a sudden one day as a toddler my brain just came up with this crazy thought and now i've never viewed "life" the same. You are alone. Nothing is real. Couldn't get more "relatable" than that.

    • @Jayozranger
      @Jayozranger ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The Boltzman brain theory sounds so stupid to me, like given time being like fucjing infinite (which I’m pretty sure it ain’t because the universe will be destroyed by black holes and shit) but isn’t it just equally as likely for earth to exist or for millions of other brains to exist

    • @Kem1sk
      @Kem1sk ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Jayozranger yea you're right, but you said isn't it equally as likely for earth to exist just as others exist. I do believe that the concept of earth being how we perceive it is just as likely as people being how we perceive them, however, I believe that both possibilities are both very, very low. I mean, there are abt 8 million people in this world vs quadrillions of quadrillions of completely different possible theories; which means that if one person were to conclude one possible answer as to why we are here, that then puts that answer into one out of quadrillions of quadrillions of possible answers out there. My point is, the chances of any theory regarding reality being remotely correct is unimaginably low, and the chances of our perception of reality being true is again, unimaginably low.

      @Kem1sk 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Stephanie-mv9iy someone said it. like every human and animal has an entire life, an entire consciousness behind their eyes. They all are the main character in their life, the life they've known for all their existence. even when someone dies, there are still billions of other humans who perceive themselves as "I." And that's just including humans. thoughts only get deeper from there to the point where you cant explain them in English words...

    Fun fact: the story at 8:15 was an experiment run by the SCP Foundation to test how SCP 096 could handle water. The whole concept of this character is that if anyone else on the planet sees his face, he instantly knows exactly where they are and how to get to them as fast as he possibly can. They made a random class D go underwater. They gave the class D a picture of 096 and was told to draw jt. Then the scientist told him to brin the photo and put the drawing in the metal try to go back to the surface. After done. 40 minutes went past when a screaming slowly crept through the submarine. The class D eyes outside the window and radios back panicking... no response. The white man smashed through the metal bubble and the D class was unresponsive... forever.

    Everyone has already pointed out the uncanny valley being caused by the fear of human corpses which is probably the main reason we experience it. But another fun theory I’ve heard before is how we me feel off when seeing something vaguely human is because our human ancestors had to compete with other similar species of human that almost looked like us such as Neanderthals which we eventually outcompeted and/or killed off. In fact some even speculate this bias against other primates still exists today because of this which is why some people find apes and chimps uncomfortable to look at

    • @benedictDover

      @@pissfart8009 It's worth noting that most neanderthals you've seen came in the form of an artist's interpretation, like wax figures and 3D renderings, which can be uncanny even when rendering normal people.
      Most people have some neanderthal DNA, ergo our ancestors likely thought neanderthals were actually sexy beasts to get it on with at any cost.

    just learned of this incident, this guy died upside down stuck in a narrow cave with his arms pinned to his side unable to move,and rescuers had no way of retrieving his body through the twists and turns of the narrow passage ways, so the rescuers left his body and filled the entrance of the cave with cement to prevent others making the same mistake. thing was he was so close to being saved too, one of the pulleys in the wall of the cave broke off and dropped him lodging him further down the dead end, he suffered a cardiac arrest after being upside down for so long. this was in 2009, gives me the creeps just thinking about it.

And piece by piece, he drew it until they showed him a photo of the face, and because he saw shy guys face he broke out of containment and swam towards the submarine ripping him to shreds, but the pictures and drawings of shy guy were still there and they retrieved them, and because they were not real photos of shy guys face, they could look at it and examine what he looks like.

    The uncanny valley was also useful for us to notice if there was someone in the group with a deficiency, and to not let that person hold the group down (euphemism for abandoning or killing). Especially if this strange person was different due to a contagious disease.

He died I think 28 hours after he got stuck, they kept reassuring him, medics and skilled caver medics came to aid, but they couldn’t get him out. This all went down in Utah.

    SCP-096, otherwise known as the “shy guy” is an anomalous pale, tall entity, with entirely white skin and abnormally long limbs. SCP-096 can extend its jaw roughly three times the amount the average human can. SCP-096 only becomes hostile when something views its face, via photo, camera feed, in person, or drawing. Once it’s face is viewed, SCP-096 will stop at nothing to kill whatever has viewed it’s face, no matter the cost. Cross-testing (neutralization attempt) SCP-096 with SCP-682 seems to leave 096 in a state of fear, thus proving the attempt at neutralizing 682 ineffective. SCP-096 cannot be killed, nor injured. The only way to stop it is by making sure nothing sees it’s face.

    Was already enjoying the video, but I gotta say, nothing made me hit subscribe and the bell faster than hearing that Legend of Dragoon music at 3:34. We love to see a man of culture around these parts.

    1:25 the best theory in my opinion is that since we lived along side neanderthals we got an instinct to know if its a neanderthal or ahuman. we lived along side them for at least 400,000. just tryna makeit less scary :)

    About skinny boys- I realized something as I was outside at night doing a chore. I got scared thinking of possibly running into one of those creatures because it was dark,, but then I thought of the whole concept of nightime=fear. Why do I get more aware and scared when it's dark? Why does that hold some sort of effect? Because when it's bright,, you can see everything,, that is reality. But when darkness falls and you feel half blind by the black,, inky night,, you don't see much. You're just holding onto the reality that everything is the same in the light as it is in the dark. And somehow,, somewhere,, something has ahold of that reality when it's dark out.
    Maybe skinny boys and other uncanny beings came about like this,, because of anything existing in the nothingness of nightime,, and maybe that's why we hold nighttime being an eerie,, dangerous time to be vulnerable and alone.

    Y'know our ancestors used to live with Neanderthals and Denisovans, sometimes killing each and other and some living in the same cave, so that would explain the phrase "at some point, there was an evolutionary reason to be afraid of something that looked human but wasn't"

    If anyone’s wondering the actual location for these coordinates is in Yellowstone National park. There is a blue dot you can click on for street view on google earth and it’s a distorted 360° camera perspective over a waterfall

  • @arinloche858

    I feel like the uncanny valley is more a byproduct from back in the stone ages when human tribes would constantly be warring, being able to pick out "human" shapes in dark areas and know to fear unknown humans probably helped survive during those times.
