    Before I said anything, i went to their website. I used to be on their mailing list and would ask from time to time when they were going to have a pallet for watercolor. With time I gave up. They are nice people and have good products. This pochade box looks really interesting. Being a lefty I like the way you can vary the setup to your needs. I will have to think about this, glad wet paint is involved too. I watched a couple of your travel videos and I noticed you all have a very nice truck and the bikes. Take care and thanks for the video. When I tell my husband about it, I doubt that he will say thanks, but we will see.

      It feels like the area under the palette may be deep enough to hold pans, so you might be able to create a pan and mixing area in the box yourself. Marty might be able to confirm if that looks possible.

    • @owingsart
      @owingsart  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joannegrrl It might be possible, but it's only about a 1/4 inch. Could maybe get some spare brushes or homemade pans in there.

      Ah, yeah, might need something like the ones I’ve seen done with metal pans that hold makeup. It’s in the realm of the possible then.

    Hi Marty, I love your style, riding your motorcycle out into the hills -i take my trail bike and backpack and strap my tripod onto the bike to use my UGO pochade. You’re right, I saved my Pennie’s and recently bought the medium size- still getting used to it but I love it so far! Going to Alaska soon and hope to hit my stride once the weather there warms up some-thanks for your video!

    Happy New Year, Marty! Nice to see you back. It looks like you had a fantastic trip with your wife. It makes me homesick to see that wide open space and that bright blue sky. Just Beautiful. That pochade box looks like a dream come true. It's also nice to see quality stuff made in the good ol' U.S. of A. again, eh? I'll have to start dropping some hints! :) It' just too bad that winter tires have to take precedence over it these days. Thanks for the video. :)

    Good review, thanks. I've been looking at this or the Guerrilla painter medium French Resistance for watercolor. After again looking in person at the Guerrilla painter recently I pretty much decided to go with one of these. Now your review has sold me. And it's great to see this reviewed by a watercolorist too. Thinking about the 8 x 11. I like to tape my paper on masonite panels up to 12 x 12 and the 6 x 8 seems like it may be too small.

    That looks really good, very nice looking, and very practical. I have the Etchr art satchel, which is really well designed, but it's substantially bulkier, so I may have to look into this.

    • @owingsart

      I saw that art satchel online. What do you think of it?

    • @joannegrrl
      @joannegrrl 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The satchel is really good. It’s got some great storage, it can be tripod mounted, and the straps have some great configuration options for supported drawing when you don’t have a tripod or other place to create a stable support. I see it as being more useful for general sketching, where I can stick to pencils or a water brush, or where I want to sketch with my iPad. I don’t think it really replaces a pochade box, especially for oils/acrylics, but it’s certainly a great option for the pencil or watercolour sketcher on the go.

    Can you use the small one as a table top easel. Will it wobble once your painting? Can you use the small one portrait mode?

    • @owingsart
      @owingsart  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rose - No, it's actually pretty stable, and if you're worries, you could use a small removable clamp. You probably could use this in portrait mode, but the landscape mode is pretty expandable so if I understand your question correctly, you may not find it necessary to rotate it.
      Hope that helps.

Nice to see good craftmanship is still alive and well - and double-nice to see production based in this country rather than being shipped out to that other country that begins with 'C' and ends with 'a' [and you know I don't mean Canada, right? Hi Mark - I don't know about others, but I definitely do. I've given unfavorable reviews when the products deserve it, regardless of whether they sent me stuff or not. Actually, I don't get too many freebies. I usually buy whatever I test on my channel. Either way I am very clear with the manufacturer that my review will be fair and unbiased. Same thing I told these guys. In this case I reached out to them, having seen the box in my favorite art supply store.
