Love it. I bought a new one back then in the box in 1976 as a left over. I used to ride wirh my next door neighbor who had (and very proud of it) RIickman/Triumph Spl TT engine. Your video brought back the good memories.
not really...lol this bike was lovingly known in 1974 as the MT "eli-snore" compared to the very fast CR elsinore that was winning races back then. the CR was lighter with a cromoly frame, aluminum parts ,bigger carb and a very loud racing pipe.... but the MT could go all day at high way speeds with out burning up and has a higher top speed with a smaller 44 tooth rear sprocket.
Nope..Flat all the way to the red line. The MT 125 was peaky but that wore off after about 1,000 miles. Honda really messed up with the horsepower on the MT series. There wasn't any.
I've seen 80 MPH......The same as the 72 Motosport 250.... NOTE >>> For more top end... 1) Need 103+ Octane...for the MT250 2) For the carb ( this will change as listed here only if you do the last improvement on this list below, NOTE if you run a 34 Mikuni use nothing less than 36 Mikuni* End of Note ) ...... Change the jet, they do make half size's, some where i seen those , Run it a tad lean, just a tad ! .... 3) Use a one step colder spark plug .... 4) Open the air box and use a dry filter or Pod ... 5) Drop '' 3 or 4 '' teeth off the rear Back Sprocket Some where i have seen those or you could make one . 6) High or, kick ass low , Expansion Chamber Exhaust leave the baffle out lol WTH right !! ..... 7) See what you can do and shave off few pounds and the bike also if you can , ( I know a very very little improvement but all adds up.) 8) Run the Tire Pressure up just a weeee little ... 9+) ColderTemps outside is always a plus - * No Wind - Get low and be as one with the bike = Less air force against you * , Wax Job ( What the hell ..LOL ) ... Find a much better road ... Better Chain upgrade to a gold 520 chain ... Last use Trible Engine Treatment '' Yes It Works '' ............ Pretty much any thing else can be had easy head mods and see what year ( engine ) they copied off the Elsinore 250.... Then get a new head from that Elsinore 250, that alone would be alone big improvement and last polish and port...You can do all this, let us all know what you decide . Stock your bike is 29hp Engine: 248cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, piston-port, 2-stroke, 70mm x 64.4mm bore and stroke, 29hp @ 7,500rpm (period test) from Honda, well that's from the crank real world more like 20 HP at the rear ! Must think back in 1976 Honda's MR250 Elsinore was on a Dyno and was 22.5 HP .... I wouldn't be surprise if yours would dyno up at 31 actual HP @ 8,800 RPM , that was a lot back then. Want to go faster yea need the juice !
I'm not 100% sure how it is on yours but on my own bike you tighten the axle first and the clamp bolts afterwards. Just because I just noticed it and was a bit puzzled about it... Greetings from Germany
Considering a Grom can get to about 55-60 with barely 10bhp, this should probably be able to break 80mph? GPS speed, not indicated speed ;) But who knows how much power the engine still makes.
Oil pump injection AND premix? Definately overkill. I'm surprised your plug didn't foul up. You could just have taken out the oil tank and the pump to save weight. Those bikes were pretty gutless compared to the other Japanese 250's of the time. I could get 75 mp/h out of my Kawasaki 90 street bike. If you still have the bike, put a CR 250 top end on it. Bolt on parts and lots more horsepower. You're running on premix anyway so why not ? It's a gorgeous bike and it deserves more horses !!! ps... ( CR 250 expansion chamber ) :)))

Well done GG! I think you got every scrap of pervormance out of that bike. Big thanks for this video!!
You did a great job and the bike also great better running with no troopers pulling you over Lol !
Does that bring back memories. I used to have an MT250 just like it. Had so much fun on it.
My 74 MT125 would barely hit 60mph in full tuck on a flat road. My first real motorcycle.😊
Help I need you to tune my 74 MT250 wont ring out over 4k
I have 1 of these in my garage on the lift. This was on my mind today and I came across your videos...
Bravo! well done old boy! it runs like new!
May i suggest using some fuel cheater such as VP or Royal Purple.
Had one as a kid my main was 110 it may be worth a try but 75 mph is good ! Well done noce to see two strokes back ✊️
Next bike 🎉
Sounds good now speed was probably someone even smaller then you what a great video series…
Nice job!!!
An expansion chamber may help instead of the OEM muffler
Does that have a power band. I had the cr 125 1974 model. Still my favourite bike.

Have you ever set your float level?

Greetings from Germany
My Elsinore back-in-the-day did 83 mi an hour I have the fastest bike in the neighborhood till I came home one day and my parents sold it
Have you tried a run now with new plug and the injector pump hooked back up again?
hold it back there suzie
Curious what was the total cost of this build.?
I can't tell but if that has knobbys on it that got to effect the speed.
Looks like it
✌
Rebuild the whole motor, oversize the cylinder a little and jet it a little more fat 🤙

Hey
if the bolt or nut does not turn before the click or beep when using a torque wrench its over torqued
Muffler bearing and Power Band need tightening........Hit 80 fer sure.
Lol....
the Honda is puuuuuuuuuuurrrring like a kitten
take the pump off run 40:1 amsoil....pre mix it
and put a good pipe on it

Don't feel too bad about that 0-60...
The only way to get an accurate measure is on a rolling road.
just got one converted to cr.....mine is faster than that
1975
Port it and file the carb
