where i race we dont have a perfectly smooth pad of concrete. Our pad has a rough texture almost like sandpaper. So when he says lean back to get traction, on a rough pad that would make you loop-out. Im just saying not everyone is from the west coast where the weather is perfect and stuff like concrete doesnt erode overtime.

Yes, most riders prefer to start in 2nd gear but it's really personal preference and bike dependent.
