There is no 2D concept for this, I concepted it in 3D as a sculpt Zbrush it's mostly just based on other objects in the environment - the location is a forest/bog that has been infected with nasty parasitic growths, they start out as spores, they grow into spikey vines that act as obstacles, and some become sentient like this floating growth that explodes into spores (as projectiles)
