One of the lines from the original game that still haunts me was "even though all that time & effort, you still can't see the rice" or something similar to it; which is accurately shown here, even with 7 people

And to top it off completing the challenge is literally pointless unless you’re on PlayStation or something for the “trophies/achievements” but even then it’s pointless…supposedly you can save….do the challenge for trophy and reload or something
But it makes your meal “free” and then increases a bunch of stats that you had to max out to complete it in the first place? What’s the point!? It’s a waste of your free time for literally no reason
I heard that all books at least gives you an accessory for reading them all (aside from trophies/achievements on compatible systems)

I mean, it’s the MEGA beef bowl, so he’s not entirely wrong.
Reminds of how here in Brazil we have Hot Dog and Cachorro Quenten, with the later being a literal translation. But Cachorro Quente as much more content, would say enough to be a full meal on its own

We actually have something really similar here in Finland. Instead of beef we use thinly sliced reindeer, and fry it with the onions, some black pepper, allspice, butter and a bit of water for the broth. Serve that over mashed potatoes with some lingonberry jam and pickles and you've made "poronkäristys" ("fried reindeer").

In the US this is what we call “regular food”, unnecessarily huge portions of foods not many people want! YEAAH!
I'm thirty years old and every time someone mentions reindeer I have to remind myself "Oh right, reindeer are real."

The way I felt so accomplished when I finished it...I actually went out with some buddies to get some gyudon after it.

I just noticed that the backing music that plays during that scene in the anime is the same one that plays when you unlock a new Social Link in the game. Yu has “formed a bond of understanding” with the beef bowl.
This dish looks amazing. As Chie would say, its a one way ticket to the meat dimension!!

Fun Fact as a chef: Alvin actually mistook the egg part. It's not a sunny egg like though. It's an onsen egg that was Sous Vide till is cooked but the eggwhite is still runny.
Gyudon can be topped with eggs in many different ways, including raw egg, onsen tamago, sunny side up, soft/medium boiled, or lightly scrambled egg cooked at the last minute with the beef. It's perfectly legit to have a fried egg on top.

I think the anime version looks more like a sunny side up egg but the game version looks more like an onsen egg

Seeing that the Mega Beef Bowl still lives to this day makes me so happy ^ ^ It cracked me up so much how the game rationalized the stats required to take the bowl on. The bowl inspires me to increases these stats in myself, and thus, inspires me to become a better person XDD

For Vegan dashi, substitute the fish ingredients with sun dried Daikon.
I also add just a bit of mushroom based oyster sauce for dishes with richer broths.
Being allergic to seafood sucks, but at least there is a reasonable work-around for hotpot and ramen.

@@Landis963 both actually. In the game/anime it’s commonly shown on the side, and atlas released an official Leblanc curry recipe containing coffee when they released persona 5 strikers. I’ve actually made the Leblanc curry from this recipe card and it was one of the best thing I have ever eaten, highly recommend

Gyudon is one of my favorites! Every time I visit Japan, I have to go eat it at least a few times. There's not a place I know of in my area to go and get it, so having this recipe warms my heart!

P4G is a wonderful gem on PC, played it through 4 times ànd working on 5. (Yes, I have a problem.) I just wish P3:FES or another version of P3 would either re- release on more platforms or get a remake.

I think the official recipe that was posted by PlayStation Japan on Twitter calls for a raw egg yolk rather than a cooked sunny side up egg. But your version looks to be accurate to the look of it in the anime adaptation.
That said, I actually suggested this a few days ago thanks to the recent tweet mentioned earlier with the recipe, talk about perfect timing (thanks for using the English dub, by the way). And since we’re on the topic of Persona, I hope you tackle Sojiro Sakura & Ren Amamiya/Joker’s curry from Persona 5 (Royal) as well as Ren/Joker’s recipes from Persona 5 Strikers at some point.
gyudon is always served with raw egg, with just barely cloudy whites slightly cooked by the heat of the meat and rice.
Japan has much safer food handling standards so it's much less risky to eat raw egg. I don't think I ever could anywhere, but I definitely wouldn't try it with commercially available eggs in the US.
