A serving that size reminds me of a ramen eating contest my buddies and I had back in college. I got to ten bowls by the time I finished. No one else made it past four bowls. They kept saying “You win, you can stop”. All they heard was a muffled “free ramen” as I stuffed my face. It was how I got my freshman 15, although doubled.

Seems to me like he made this in America. Surely you have not had American corn if you would be offended by what he said.... Canned corn is legitimately better here. It can sometimes also depend on where the corn is from; so, if he were in an area where fresh corn is better, then he would not have said that.

If you want to make an even band around a conical shape. You can take the orange construction paper and put it all the way around the bucket, then put a string around at the borders of where you want the band to be, and draw along the string with a pencil. Then unfold the construction paper and cut it along the pencil line, and then put the band back on.

I think those subtitles might have been the ones my friends and I did way back when it was originally airing on TV in Japan. (It was mostly done by Europeans and one of the translators was British - that's why the subtitles are in UK English.)

I've been trying foods from my local Japanese restaurants and have realized that the palette I thought I would have for Japanese foods if I visited the country isn't there 😥 I found I'm not keen on raw fish so I microwaved the salmon sushi I ordered, which made it taste amazing to me. Miso was okay but fishier than I was ready for, but not horrible. I'm not crazy about it, though.
I had some tiny pieces of grilled eel and along with them being rather pricey, they were just...okay. The texture and taste were not to my liking. But the biggest disappoinent was when I ordered takoyaki. For ages, I just KNEW I would love takoyaki if I tried it. This, people, was the pinnacle of my anime weeb dreams. Spending a festival in yukata and eating takoyaki has always been my ultimate goal. Finally ate some and the inside was "undercooked' for what I had been expecting, making it mushy and gross (to me). The thing I was most nervous about, the octopus (tako) was actually the best part, tasting simply like boiled, unseasoned chicken. Oh...my poor heart was crushed. I asked a friend who's had more Japanese foods than me if the dough being undercooked inside was normal and he did say "sometimes". I'm not sure if that's normal, but I didn't like it.
I say all of that because I think ramen might be one of the few foods I would like through and through. But that's such a letdown because it's broth, meat, noodles and veggies, what's not to love? I have no palette for the exotic and I'm disappointed in myself for that.
Oh, and another moment of huge disappointment was trying the pink pickled ginger that came with my sushi. Also just knew I would like it, so I took a bite without reservation. I can probably count on one hand without using all of the fingers the amount of times I've spat something out. That...was one of them. Sweetness, tanginess and even a sort of spiciness (and I don't like spicy) hit my mouth all at once, creating the oddest mixture of flavors I have ever tasted. I'm very happy I had ordered delivery to eat at home, it was a kneejerk reaction and I would've absolutely embarrassed myself in public.
The steak and fried rice hibachi plate is looking like one of the other few things I like from my local restaurants and those are seriously too close to being American 😥. I'm now thinking I wouldn't be able to hack it in Japan unless I stuck to Americanized dishes, lol.
