      It’s so frustrating. They use a single bible verse to support any view. Protestants really rely on the Old Testament. Which is the old covenant. It makes zero sense.

      Hey Mr. Life
      Christ be with you
      I have found usually protestants do not steer far from St Paul's teaching (2 Peter 3:15-16)
      I think Mr. Robertson view is a long way from St Paul's on this subject he has had to look further afield.
      It more if you hold your mouth like this and really squint this is what scripture means even though thats not what it says.
      God bless you

      @@joanofarc6402 Try telling that to the early Church that had NO new testament until centuries later. They used the "Old Testament" to prove that Jesus was and is the Mesiah. Not to mention that ALL the early church consisted of Jews and again the Old Testament was what led them to realize who the Mesiah was.

      Bertrand Russell
      reotondspS766ma
      1
      Bertrand Russell writes in support of the decriminalization of homosexuality.
      "Sir, -I wish to express my very complete agreement with the letter from Mr. Bernard Wall published by you in May 1934. I do not think making homosexuality a crime serves any purpose except to relieve the vindictive feelings of people who have failed to understand the right principles of the criminal law. Homosexuality of adults with mutual consent is a private matter in which society has no legitimate interest. There is no better reason for punishing it than punishing extra-martial heterosexual intercourse. Most Continental countries recognize this, and I earnestly hope that the English law may before long become equally humane"
      Yours faithfully, Bertrand Russell
      41 Queen's Road, Richmond, Surrey. May 15, 1934.
      "Homosexuality between men, though not between women, is illegal in England, and it would be very difficult to present any argument for change of the law in this respect which would not itself be illegal on the ground of obscenity. And yet every person who has taken the trouble to study the subject knows that this law is the effect of a barbarous and ignorant superstition, in favor of which no rational argument of any sort or kind can be advanced."

    The fact that I have a weakness does not make me right. The fact that it is hard and so I give in, that does not make it right. The Christian choice is to accept that I have sinned and each day pray and work to do better. No pleasurable sin is easy to overcome, therefore, my kind advice is please don't give up trying to overcome any sin. Fall as many times as you can, but don't give up. And please love ones, let recognize the efforts people put to overcome a weakness and be supportive. Without kindness and support, we push more people to this state of convincing themselves it is not a sin.

    • @joeterp5615
      @joeterp5615 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amen! We have to remember that God loves each and everyone of us with an infinite love. We need to help these people to find the FULL life that God intends for them. He does NOT want them to have miserable lives where they feel they can’t live out their identity, or where they live with a constant shame. Rather, He wants them to understand that as Christians we are not identified by who we are attracted to, but rather by our elevation to becoming sons and daughters of God. We all have our crosses to bear. We need to respect that the cross is different for each one of us - but encourage each other in love and fellowship to persist to the end.

      stresser 123 Yes, it was on the context of the Amazon Synod, with groups of native (south) american indian people, representing their culture. • @masterchief8179
      @masterchief8179 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      stresser 123 Yep, my friend. The devil will always spread confusion inside God’s true kingdom. Tares amongst the wheat, do you remember the parabole?
      But when everybody was simply stating that the Amazon synod was going to approve female ordanation or abolish celibacy in the West, the Pope reafirmed the Sacred Doctrine and frustrated the plans of the heretics (even though in particular celibacy isn’t a matter of doctrine of faith, instead of eclesiastical discipline). That’s pretty much the “petrine charisma”: not that good people personally will ever mantain the integrity of the “depositum fidei”, but that God will mantain it under Saint Peter’s office, whose faith will never FAIL (Lk 22, 33), so that the Petrine authority - not the person occupying the “cathedra” - will be the signal of the unity and catholicity of the CHURCH of God. He is the ONLY pastor of the Universal church (John 21, 15-19), under whom the Church was built (Matthew 16, 16-18). Jesus is the constructor in this passage, of course, not the solipsistic “rock”, as fundamentalist try to depict it.
      That petrine mystery is not to signify that we will always have good Popes, but that we will always have the true infallible doctrine in spite of bad or even sinful Popes, on the guidance of the Holy Spirit (John 16, 12-14).
      That’s how we feel, my friend. That’s what God the Son promised to us. Not anarchy. Jesus Christ our Lord didn’t give us a book or told his apostles or disciples to write one single word. But he BUILT a Church. Read the Bible, my friend.

      Yeah. Esp. because Jesus said "for many" and not "for all". Honestly, I'm confused where he gets those views, I mean, I'm sure the bible says something different on more than one verse.
      Sad if that can do more harm than good. I wouldn't want to be the one that lives in the lie to go to heaven my whole life and then die and not because I did no Lt believe in Jesus, not Form a relationship or something... :/
      I wonder how he defends his view 🤔 I've seen the genesis one and that was... Strange...

Over and over he says "I think..." "My understanding..." "The way I see it..." "My interpretation..." "I preach...." Sorry, I'll go with the Magisterium and 2000 years of tradition rather than relativism and "in today's culture." "Paul is a man of his times"???? so has no value today outside the "Greco-Roman culture" My brain hurts.

    1:07:35 Even from a secular perspective, the purpose of sex is procreation. Why does sex feel good? Is it because some deity wanted primates to get some jollies every now and then just because that deity loves us? No, it's to incentivize behavior that will lead to reproduction, the goal of virtually every species on this planet.
    You can choose to not procreate while still having sex the same way you can choose to avoid decadent levels of fats, sugars and salt while still nourishing yourself.
    Fats, sugars, and salt generally feel good to consume because they indicate a high source of calories, useful for survival, yet there are people who choose not to lean into these pleasures in favor of some other priority.
    Some people do the opposite and consume much more of these foods than is necessary for nourishment.
    I am equating the desire and appreciation of calorie-rich foods usually bolstered by fat, sugar and salt, with the desire for sex. You can survive without either, but most people experience a drive towards them and derive pleasure from them for an evolutionary reason. The evolutionary reason for the former is that the availability of such foods best ensures our continued survival. The evolutionary reason for the latter is to avoid the cessation of what has obviously and evidently been an unbroken chain of ancestral life that has culminated in you.

    If you take it to the extreme, it becomes clear. Let's say you take a person that was born being attracted to children, but has never acted on it. Let's say that person would be more likely to become depressed and suicidal if you told them their natural desires would be a sin to act on and they should not. Does that mean its bad to discourage their natural behavior becuae they might become depressed? No, you just tell them the truth and encourage them that Jesus will enable them to accomplish holiness.

    • @BismarckianMan
      @BismarckianMan ปีที่แล้ว

      This is absolutely true. I experience those sorts of attractions and have interacted with many others who do as well. It is simply the case that those who are "anti-contact," who hold it would always be wrong to act on their attractions with a child, have a greater propensity to depression and suicidality than those who are "pro-contact," who hold that there is at least some circumstance where it would be fine to act on their attractions with a child. I think it's pretty simple to understand why it works out like this. If you think your attractions are fine and can be fine to act on, why get upset about having them? Someone who is pro-contact basically has the eschatological hope of sex and sexual relationship with children in a future utopia. There isn't the same for someone who is anti-contact.

    As I watched this i could not help but think anyone with a sexual obsession will never be free of it until true repentance in the Sacrament is done of the first instance of the sin. I can say this because i was a sex addict and struggled for 15 years with going to confession weekly for those years. It wasn't until i confessed the earliest memory and asked Christ through the priest as if I was talking to Christ said i was sorry and asked him to take this addiction away that he finally did. I have been given the grace and am 1 year free with ease as if i am a child again. I was thinking did he ever repent his desires? Later watching i realized he did not. I pray he repents and becomes free by Gods grace.

    There is right and wrong. We need to love and be there for everyone who battles with sin. Walking on egg shells and trying to find the right words that are not going to offend the person is just a bit too much. If you are an alcoholic, well, you are an alcoholic, there is no other way around it. You have a drinking problem...etc. There must be love, honesty, and a seriousness to the tone of voice when speaking to the person.

    When boiled down, the first part/point of his thesis is that Christians telling him the truth hurts his feelings ("psychological harm") and therefor those truths must be wrong. His second point is basically, "Revisions are good because they affirm my position and bend the truth for me." And lastly he is simply saying, "We are moving away from the patriarchy because Jesus talked to sinners..." Which is a very theologically shallow view that doesn't recognize Christ as the head patriarch (New Adam) nor the fact Jesus brought the uncomfortable truth to those sinners but loved them anyways and for that they followed and respected him. He did not bend the truth or change the truth for those sinners to make them feel better or OK their sins.

    Firstly, we are all sinners (i.e. have lied, stolen etc). As with these sins, the Bible clearly states homosexuality is a sin. If you take your sin (i.e. a homosexual) and then use it to 'identify' who you are than how can that be right? We are all called to repentance and not stay in the same state. If I was a former drug user, adulterer etc then now call myself a Christian but fall back and continue in my sins then I am a hypocrite. It's like when Jesus said "you honor me with your lips but their hearts are far from me". We cannot compromise with sin, we must forsake it (go to confession etc) and repent and trust in Jesus.
