Thanks for this super video. I've lived in Prestwich all my 75 years, and went to school in Whitefield, love the whole place. The world has changed, but our old town is still more recognisable than most, and our parkland survives intact.
I left Prestwich in 1975, but still had family there till the late 1990s. I now live in Cheshire, but even after almost 50 years, I still always say I’m from Prestwich. Thanks for uploading these great pics.

Thank you so much for posting I was born in Besses on th' barn in 1964 until 1978 and then we ingrimated to Canada brought back a lot of memories for me.
Some places in this are still recognisable today, especially the town`s shops, good of you to put these together, alot has changed in the citizens of Prestwich now, it`s not what it was 10 years ago, it`s gone down hill and full of lowlife, mainly.
Thanks for making this. I can still recognise many places now in their current state. I'd have loved to walk the streets back then😊. When do we get volume 2?
Some great photos but at 3:30, that isn't the Junction Hotel in Whitefield. That photo is of the junction of Bury New Road and Radcliffe New Road in Whitefield. The building on the right of the photo is now Khattak Solicitors.
You're right. I've lived in Whitefield all my life, (since 1961) and I don't recall ever seeing that fancy building between Lily Hill St and Radcliffe New Rd. That was just a patch of wasteland for many years, until they built the houses that are there today.
