Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM 2016 'Renntaxi' in action: Warm Up, Accelerations & Crackles!

- Back in 2018, Misano World Circuit hosted the first ever night race in DTM history. During the weekend my friends Davide458Italia, Italiansupercarvideo and I discovered the three DTM teams had a couple of reserved sessions for taxi rides, where professional drivers taking guests and VIPs around the track in previous gen DTM cars. Mercedes was there with a 2016-spec C63 (judging by the "winged" mirrors, front and side flaps and rear diffuser) but featuring a similar livery to the one used by Pascal Wehrlein in 2018, since they have/had to show the current sponsors during official events and shows like it happens with Formula 1 cars. It is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine that was producing around 460hp (with air restrictors).

the beginning of the end for traditional motorsport. Im just disappointed there's no real electric sports car out yet that's actually fun to drive.

@@tymo8708 Those wrc 1.6 4 cylinders are insanely loud as well, when they activate lauch control hell breaks loose
They sound similar though. The exhaust is 4 into 1 for both banks of the V8, making it sound like 2 Inline 4s.

It might be the antilag setting for the turbo but at the same time it doesn't sound like it.
Engine brake possibly, maybe it burns fuel in that way when deccelerating

Might be just a little since racecars generally doesn't utilize any sound dampening measures in the first place so it is inherently loud af. Not to mention the additional noise from straight cut gears, wind & structural creaks (carbon fibre).

@@JohnComeOnMan That's probably just the transport tires. They wouldn't risk sending a showcar out on slicks when it's wet, no need to risk the car, they wouldn't gain anything from it.

Exhaust placement. One separate pipe and heads for each bank of cylinder.
Edit: Sorry for my previous comment, misread it.
It's a flatplane crank v8 and the separated exhaust banks emphasizes that sound.

This year model is a 4.0 V8.
There's a seperate exhaust outlet on each side, combined with the flat plane crank and air restrictors, give this sound.
Paint it one solid color , slap an AMG logo on it and it will look like every other model sold at the dealership ..

DTM is amazing mate, watch some BTCC, V8 supercars & TCR uk which is not BTCC in fact about 50hp more, and Touring Car Masters Australia is more fun to watch
