As an RN, I understand the nursing staff drew labs, gave a urine sample that showed a positive pregnancy result (and the staff was waiting for blood preg test results to come back to tell het and Mom). She refused a physical exam or a vaginal exam which is her right (the "Right to Refuse"). The staff could have gotten the key to open the restroom sooner, but what the eff are we to do. We cannot fix stupid or crazy!

@@WarriorGirl_113 Exactly ! Pictures of her in her cheer-leading outfit absolutely shows a baby bump. Her belly was not soft fat from gaining weight - it was shaped and firm as a pregnant woman has. I don't believe for one second that she wasn't aware that she was pregnant. The fact that she ran to the bathroom with her hand trying to hold it back and then how she threw the baby in the trash in a bag that had been twisted so no air for that baby says it all. Guilty !! I bet that if she'd had the baby elsewhere, she would of disposed of it in the same manner.

19 is not an "immature child" its an adult, by law and by actions. Her urine pregnancy test was positive. She was told that. They sent blood to the lab because she was denying it. The hospital is not at fault for her choice to lie, deny, hide and murder. She is an adult, and should be held accountable like any other adult would be.

      And this is bothering me…
I’m not buying this idea that Alexie did it due to being so fearful of her mother.
I think it’s more like her mother is just very controlling and did way too much to baby her daughter.
If she was so fearful of her mother then why would she go to the hospital with her mother at that point and bring her in the hospital room?
If she was so fearful of her mother then why would she not stop the pregnancy way sooner? Why not run away?
Do anything you can to get away from your mother!?
That part isn’t adding up at all for me.
She’s had her mom involved at every step. It seems more like mom just does everything for her to the point that she just really thought mom would probably clean that mess up too.
She didn’t even seem upset when she actually got arrested! It was more upsetting to her mother than it was to Alexie!
And even in the hospital waiting room! Why was the boyfriend there with his mother at 2am?? That doesn’t make any sense either!
Nobody there seemed surprised in the least!
      THINK THIS ONE THROUGH!!
Your HS senior son’s GF is going to the hospital after midnight for back pain with her mother…. So why would the mother of the son AKA Alexiee’s BF have to or even want to go?

Of course she was disassociated - she was likely in denial due to the control and fear towards her own mother. It’s insane to me that there are actual people defending this teen and the mom because I just came from another video and I saw a few people defending the teen saying “she’s young” “it’s the hospitals fault” and it shocked me to my core. That teen KNEW she was pregnant the entire time. Look at her cheerleading photos and videos. She knew. And she knew that baby was coming out when she was running to that bathroom and she killed that baby instead of asking for help. She’s old enough to KNOW right from wrong. She knew what she was doing was wrong! And her mom blaming the hospital is gross. I hope this teen goes to jail. She murdered an innocent precious baby boy. He never got the chance to live life.
She had no remorse for what she did. She went to prom w the babys father and didn’t give a flying f about the baby being dead. She didn’t mourn his death. Even one of the doctors at the hospital said that she had no remorse for killing that baby and it shocked him. She deserves to be in jail for a long time. She’s a murderer and I don’t care what anyone says. That baby was alive, it had air in its lungs. It would’ve lived if she would’ve have murdered it. She was in the best place possible for the baby to survive and the hospital is one of those hospitals where you can literally drop your baby off. So her killing it… it’s sickening. I’m praying for that baby boy. He deserved better😔

It's funny to me because her entire school is against her and I have heard reports that she told people at her school she was going to name the baby "Alex". She knew and the hospital cannot do anything to keep people from lying it is a hospital not a prison they cannot force you to undergo any treatment you don't allow. That isn’t an adequate exam to ensure safe administration of a strong narcotic drug.

But sure let’s blame everyone else except the murderous mom and her dingy mom who seems like a sociopath herself to ignore her daughters pregnancy and allowing her daughter to take no accountability

Her classmates said that she was extremely manipulative and was known for acting like a naive little girl when she got into any kind of trouble. If she was so afraid of her mother, why did she tell some of her classmates about the pregnancy and say that she'd named the baby Alex? They're from a pretty small town and that information could have easily gotten back to her mother and step-father or her boyfriend's parents if they didn't already know.
I won't deny the claim that her mother is overbearing and likely very controlling but according to her friends, Alexee and her mother were always at each other's throats. That doesn't sound like she's afraid of her mother... it sounds more like they're very much alike. To be honest, after seeing her cheerleading videos, I'm convinced that her mother knew that she was pregnant at least at some point. Her squad's uniforms are very form-fitting and the pregnancy was very noticeable. She's very petite and only 5ft tall and it was very clear that she had a pretty advanced baby belly in the videos.

They outwardly made everyone know that they found a dead baby in the trash with the young woman’s mother in the room. That’s not a public conversation. You pull the girl aside and then let her decide how to tell her mother, In some homes, that information could have gotten her killed or kicked out and this was BEFORE police were called and she was arrested. Shame on that hospital. Because I know if a woman did bring a live baby they’d also try to hold her down and ask questions regardless of what they say.

Plus air in the lungs and stomach of the baby does not prove the child was born alive since the medical staff attempted a resus meaning they manually inflated the baby's lungs while attempting to resus. This is why air is present. Now I personally think she killed that baby, but all the defence needs is to put doubt in 1 juror's mind, talk about how morphine depressed CNS function in the baby and explain why air was present in the lungs due to a resus attempt and they get her acquitted. To have wrapped and left that poor infant like she did, especially trying to disguise the garbage as an empty can with a new bag in it was cold and calculated!! And they need to check up on that weight loss drug to see if she got it by prescription or not. I just can't comprehend what made her put the baby in the trash instead of given it up. I have a theory with abortions and the lack of adoptions being the result of mothers not wanting to make that hard decision to hand over their baby. Meaning it's easier to be disconnected and not experience the bonding and the hardship of given it up after carrying the baby for 9 months and then birthing it. I could be totally wrong but I'm can't wrap my head around having the baby and not just handing it over. Why was death a better option for that baby than adoption?

Yep, 19 used to be a very common age to have your first baby - and our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents were FAR more sheltered and naive and uneducated about sex and babies back then.
I had my first when I was 16. (He's 23 now!) I got pregnant again at 19 but I miscarried.
      Had my 2nd baby at 21 (she's 19 now) and 3rd baby at 25 (he's 15).
There's no way she didn't know she was pregnant. But even if she didn't, that's no reason to kill a person. In fact, her actions make her look far more guilty and it seems entirely premeditated.
Because if she had not known, she would've been more likely to call for help because she wouldn't have known what was going on.
Besides, she ripped the cord apart with her teeth and the flushing they heard over and over and over was her ripping the placenta apart and stuffing it down the toilet.
So in court the only question is:
IS she guilty of killing her baby?
There is no world in which she in not. She either killed it or - at the very least - she didn't save it (which is the same as killing someone) and then lied, delaying and all possible rescue.
She is guilty no matter how you look at it.

It’s standard to test for pregnancy when any woman of childbearing age comes into an ER. The Doctor and the Nurse told her she was pregnant before she went to the restroom and put the baby in the trash. She denied it and said she was a virgin. So the hospital decided to run a hcg test to figure out how far along she was because she was denning she ever had sex. Then she went to the bathroom. The hcg test came back sometime when she was in the restroom. She was told before going to the restroom. The head Nurse states this in the Bodycam footage right when the police show up.

As an ex labor and delivery and NICU RN , I can tell you that if we had a mother who had been given IV/SQ/IM Morphine within an hour or two of delivery, We would have the resuscitation team at the birth because there’s a good chance, depending on the amount of morphine the mother received that the baby would have respiratory depression that would require respiratory support until the morphine is metabolized out of the baby’s system. We hardly give morphine to laboring mothers anymore most of them get epidural’s which have a small amount of fentanyl and bupivacaine which has less transplacental transfer. Age and maturity are not equal. I know many older than her that are very immature. I also have a daughter at 14 was an old soul. So age doens't equal maturity and just because you are 19 doesn't mean you think like an adult. Just saying. Should she be put away in prison for this horrible mistake she made. I'm going not guilty. I think there should be punishment, but frankly women kill their babies everyday in America "They want this right above any other right". They vote for politiicans that give them this right. And frankly that is not a good reason to vote for someone, so why is this a big deal to so many commenters. You are either for killing babies or you are not. You can't have it both ways. This is a sad situation and I do believe there is fault, but not enough beyound a reasonable doubt. YOU don't go to the hospital to kill a baby unless its an abortion.
