    I have this plane and this bird is great! I normally fly it on 4S/2200mAh (I get 10-15min hotfooting it) but also on 3S/1300mAh (I get 30-45min soaring it). After blowing up the plastic spinner (on 4S), I replaced it with a Aluminum "Turbo" spinner with CF blades. Works great. I also painted the bottom of the wing tips a bright orange to help with orientation when up high and added servo covers for the ailerons since I fly at a grass field. Pretty funny that the new UMX version also screams like this on downlines at speed!
    Great flying this bird Adam! Love watching what you can do with it!

    Man, how I love this Conscendo!!! It was my second or third plane and when buying it, I wasn't really there yet. The sound was pretty intimidating back then and with the little experience, I also didn't realize how much of an impact weight has indeed. I learned way later that the Conscendo really has two sides - the fast and aggressive one that feels like you can hardly tame it (slow it down) and then, the glider, when only using a 1300 3S - it's a complete different plane that seems to rest in the air. Might be worth mentioning. Meanwhile, the Conscendo is one of my absolute most favorite planes - along with a T-28 1.1m. Simple, relatively cheap and just amazing. A pure joy. Great flying, Adam - you were really challenging poor Heidi with some unpredictable flying pattern... she made it anyway! ;)

      Thanks man! I love flying it. I've never flown it on a 1300 3s, but that makes sense. For thermal soaring I'm really digging the Night Radian. When I fly the Conscendo I'm usually ripping it! Lol. Yes, that push reversal caught Heidi by surprise, but she caught back up to it quickly!

      It really is Noel. They didn't send the F-16 to reviewers because the only upgrade is the power system. Kind of a soft re-release. Great airplane though. have about 150 flights on the V1.

    @davidfisher ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is one of the best and most versatile airplanes I have ever flown. Smaller batteries provide adequate performance and larger pack make the model rip. It’s also a surprisingly easy plane to train on with great manners at slower soaring speeds. As mentioned in the video, watch your final approach as the plane wants to keep soaring forever.

  • @Videolinquency
    @Videolinquency ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great demo. When it comes to parks, I think the moderate noise level will help it appear less threatening to bystanders. And landing a fast floater in a cramped space is not necessarily a problem if you can find a fairly steep grade and use it to your advantage. You made me wonder why I never had a warmliner in my fleet; they seem quite versatile.

      Congrats, this is quite the step up...great airplane. For your next step I'd recommend a TX upgrade. The NX7e plus is now a extremely capable TX for a reasonable price. You'd be able to make that Conscendo among other things fly much better with the more advanced set up capabilities.

    It was fun watching you have a good time with the Evo. I am still a bit amazed at the speed. This seems like it might be one of the most efficient models I have seen. I was wondering if you 're-balanced' your prop tips on that low pass at the 12:13 part of your flight? It does seem like getting it set up for a nice, gentle landing might require some thought and planning. Maybe grass ops would be a good option. Thanks for another excellent demo flight!

    I highly recommend using 3s 1300 instead of 3s 2200mAh.
    With the 2200 it is very nose-heavy and I had to trim the elevator all the way and still have to give it some elevator input, to keep it level.
    When using Spektrum batteries the difference between 1300 3s and 2200 3s is 50 grams. That is a lot of extra weight!
    Just buy 3-4 batteries and you can fly for a long time.
    Also, use some CA for the wing tail and packing tape instead of those 4 pieces of small tape that come with it.
    One extra thing is the plastic clevis. I crashed my plane because the elevator clevis broke in flight, so I just ordered some metal m2 clevis (2mm) and I'm going to change all of them.
    I'm waiting for my new plane to arrive, and I'm going to do all these things before my maiden flight.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That isn't our experience at all. We're no where near trimmed all the way up to hold level flight with a 2200. In fact the elevator looks to be only just slightly up at center. Keep in mind, we have more throw than normal as we tumble it and get in the power a lot. I don't fly it much as a glider, but your advice may be valid for someone that does for sure. Lighter the better in that instance.
      The tape works fine, never had a hint of it coming loose...and we check it. If we break a part we can replace it, if you glue them you can't as easily.
      We have reinforced our elevator clevis (with a small carbon rod) because of the way we fly it.

  • @GoofballFlyer
    @GoofballFlyer ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I never go to the field without it. You did not mention that it takes up almost no room in the vehicle. Another reason to buy one. Best bang-for-$ in the E-Flite line. Get the BNF.

  • @Retset
    @Retset ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Eff me - that thing screams! I have a few gliders (Solius, Radian Pro, Kunai and Phase 5e) but only the Phase 5e has this Conscendo level of performance and whoosh. Watching this makes me wonder if I can convert the Kunai to 4S! A hotliner style of glider is so much fun and anybody who doesn't have one should be seriously considering adding a Conscendo Evolution to their fleet. I see they also do a PNP but the saving hardly seems worth it unless you can't fly a Spektrum equipped aircraft ($199 vs $229)

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Adam, just wanted to say what a great tutorial you offered with the concendo. I have it in my collection, but with your tips and presentation of it, I gained helpful knowledge from someone with the "Right Stuff", yourself prior to flying it. The decals on both wings have bubbles in certain areas and wanted to ask if there is an easy way to remove them without damaging the foam. With thanks!

      @ModelAV8RChannel  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, glad it was helpful! You may be able to squeegee them out with a credit card. You can also use a covering iron on low heat, but if you're not versed in using one I wouldn't try that.

    Great video as usual. I Will buy this glider the second E Flite releases this 1.5m version with a Factory Programmed Flaperon / Spoileron option. Or just Flaps. I know it can be re programmed into the airplane, but why should the customer have to deal with that Mod. They can put it on the UMX Timber X and the UMX Conscendo. So it can be done. I'll just wait.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It can be done yes, but because it already has all the modern bells and whistles, and it only takes some simple programming I kind of doubt they will. This is one of those things that falls under pretty basic modeling/programming skills. It would be worth you learning how to do it so you're not so limited as to what you can buy and have the way you want it. A great example is the new FMS F-86. Wonderful plane and one I really wanted, but the speed brakes were programmed to operate with the flaps. I wanted them on an independent switch, so I changed it myself. I personally would never let something that simple keep me from a plane I want, and your modeling journey will be richer if you learn at least some basic modeling skills. I'm not being critical of you mind you, I just think once you learn how to do this you'd see it is much easier than you think it is, and you'd be glad you did.

    • @gisall8205
      @gisall8205 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've done this many times with New Un programmed receivers. Very easy. But never on a Locked, Factory Programmed Receiver. So first, I unlock the Receiver. Reprogram in the Flaperon wing type. Then Rebind the new settings. Re establish AS3X and SAFE and assign it to a switch. Is this correct. @@ModelAV8RChannel

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gisall8205 Exactly. Once you unlock the RX you just treat it as if it was a new un-programmed RX. You'll need to remove the Y harness on the ailerons and plug them into separate channels as well.

Only problem is, getting the radio and plane to bind with each other....every time. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I turn on the radio first, then plug in the battery...and then try just the opposite if it doesn't bind...I plug in the receiver battery, and then turn on the transmitter. Doesn't always bind. What gives? And yes...the batteries are charged and good. And yes....I hold the plane still after plugging them in. I'm puzzled. Suggestions?

    I am not a fan of styrofoam airplanes but this airplane is far better than it has any right to be. 20 minute assembly, sturdier than ordinary foam junk, flies great, what more could you want? Only critique I have is that the pushrods are a little more flexible than I like but easily fixed with a tube and some glue. Right now, this is the best buy in R/C - no way this should sell as cheaply as it does.

      That is normal. It is a powerful motor/prop combo. Lots of rotational torque when you throttle up, and by the same measure quite a jolt when that all comes to a sudden stop. Don't let it intimidate you, just part of a powerful motor glider. You want the power for obvious reasons, and the quicker the prop stops and folds out of the way the sooner it is more aerodynamic for gliding.
      Also, you don't need full throttle to hand launch. Half is plenty.
