Hands-down the best recording of this piece I've ever heard. Not only is the soloist amazing, but kudos to the conductor for pulling such great phrasing out of the orchestra. The sound recording engineers did absolute magic on this!

As a cello player I have always appreciated the sound of the bassoon. It has that same sweet tenor clef resonance, it's like the wind instrument version of the cello. Few composers can showcase the ability of the bassoon to produce some of the most lovely sounds on Earth quite like Mozart. Love it!

This bassoonist is amazing!! I had the 3rd movement as my bridesmaids/groomsmen processional at my wedding, October 28, 1993 at St. Anthony's Church in Streator, Illinois. Sadly, the bassoonist could not make it as his father was admitted to the hospital that morning. But, our organist, Jean Drendel, played it very well! I had to order it from a publisher in Germany and it took from July to October for us to receive it. It was very worth it! I have never suggested it to be played at any other wedding since....it's a special memory for us!

You should consider it in the context of his work in bringing the conical woodwinds together with the cylindrical (clarinettes) to achieve the fullness of sound all through the entire register.Had a bloody problem bringing the bitch to sister in law into the fold. The human voice is so individual, that it often clashes with the instruments.

Lovely Teatro and Mr Voltan made this piece sound like liquid silk for one's ears.

extraordinary! My wife was a bassoon major at BGSU (1st chair) in the late '60's and will appreciate this performance. Bravo.

Bravo sir! Magnificent bassoon player. I am a bassoonist myself however my instrument was on loan from a music service so I haven't played since leaving for university. I really miss it.

It was the same for me. I finally got a bassoon of my own, used, in my late 30s. I loved to be able to play it again, and I hope the same can happen for you. But you don't realize how strong your chops have to be to play until you haven't played in a long while!

You made me cry. You brought that piece to life. So expressive and so so musical. Thank you for making what I always regarded as a poor piece by Mozart so beautiful!

I love that the cadenza (first movement) truly shows off the remarkable range of the bassoon.
