I've been thinking about posting this message for a few months now but I've been wanting to thank you because without us knowing each other or anything you've kind of got me through a lot of stuff. My honest opinion: The paper thing is too gimmicky and frankly, a waste of paper. Isn't that what touch screens are for? I like the Yoga Book. But I doubt if I'd ever use the paper writing feature.
The Yoga Book looks cool. I am worried about the sturdiness of the hinge when you continuous flip the keyboard over on a daily basis to use in tablet mode.
They've used that hinge system for about 2-3 years in their 2 in 1s and there hasn't been any major failures or complaints from users/they havent had to redesign it so I think it's probably proven and safe by now :)
I had the Yoga 3 Pro and currently have the Yoga 900 model convertible laptops. Have been using them for a combined 2 years now. Both have the same "watchband hinge" as Lenovo calls it. I have had zero problems or complaints with it. It's similar to a piano hinge if you're familiar with those. It's designed to have multiple hinge contact points all the way across. This greatly reduces any stress on a single hinge point. There is no click or noise either. It's a smooth movement that stays where you put it. And, it allows it to be extremely thin. IMHO the best functioning and looking design for a 2 in 1 I've ever seen.
Make a version that thin, light, compact, with a bezeless screen, i7 6700U, 16gb ram and an SSD and I'll literally drop 2 grand on it. That would be phenomenal.
