I love this. I actually mean it. I adore the fact that we can put any piece of paper into the glass and start writing and my notes will be digitized. I tried the Surface but writing on glass is just weird. I'd much rather prefer to use paper, but I want my notes digitized since I'm in engineering and carrying 6 notebooks+a textbook is clumbersome. I'm getting this when it comes out.

Also, I know the keyboard lacks but honestly, in my major, it's all math. So I just need something to do math on.

steviesteveo1 you can have textbooks on the screen and take notes with the pad, a small pop up comes on screen with your digitzed note. it wasn't in this video, but it is possible.

did you notice the digital keyboard?

    • @MikkoHaavisto1

Yes, I did, but the video points to the lack of ports being a reason not to consider this as the main laptop. 1:59

It's like people aren't watching the entire review. She spends nearly 3 mins talking about the awful keyboard but Mikko made his point on ports.... she even ends the video saying it's a sexy book but it's not up to standards right now.

I’m 25 and I USUALLY draw on paper. I carry like 3 sketchbooks around with me. Being able to just draw as I normally do but have it show up on screen for digital uses really appeals to me. It’s actually the thing that set this apart from other 2 in 1 tablets for me. The disconnect from tablet to screen with separate tablets really throws me off quite a bit.

  • @JihadPowell

I wish the bottom part was actually a screen, could have been used for modular keys and icons also a duel screen mobile setup

The more I watch it the more I want one. It wouldn't be my main laptop though. I would use it as a companion to my laptop and will take to meetings to take notes and probably presentation. I will still need a laptop for performance.

Nice Review as always but I would say personally as an artist I love the accuracy that a graphics tablet offers over a display tablet for productivity.
Once you are familiar with the concept of trusting the cursor to appear where it should on the screen; which it will unless you have more than one monitor, in which case you may wish to lock the tablet to one screen to prevent distortion.
Sure Ntrig products like the surface pro 3+ have really nice accuracy with little parallax, but they come with there own problems as well, and without calibration Wacom cintiqs are just god awful, although that may change with the up coming Mobile Studio Pro (PLEASE Review!).
And plenty of professionals feel the same way, Feng Zhu for example, feels that the only real advantage to the citiqe is for line art. I think to say all 'Graphic Artist' is a bit rich, both technologies come with pros and cons, having the digitizer in the display for example gives it much more mobile potential, where accuracy isn't everything anyway as you have differently lit environments to deal with. So then it comes down to how the artist thinks, and I think its going to take a while before tablet displays fully take over here, beyond strong marketing.

I'm really considering buying this for school work. Add some more GBs, add some more RAM and it should be good for me. I'm a student as well as an artist and I find this really useful for travelling work. Even with the keyboard, it seems to have everything I could ask for in a laptop/tablet.

I've have the android version for about a year and a half and it's still one of my daily drivers, even though the OS hasn't reached past Android 7. it still gets the job done with media consumption, drawing and note taking. I know the c930 has come out, but not into the e-ink bottom slate, or windows for this kind of device. If they go back to the Android style, get rid of the bezels of the screen, and add usb c, I'd be it without a question. Alas, I don't think they're going to. As long as it works, I'll keep using mine. Love it!

  • @CloverZero
    @CloverZero 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I know it's been 2 years but lol. I finally bought this like around a month ago, and it's been pretty great. Here's some short points from me:
    * I'm used to typing for a long time on the halo keyboard now and reached my usual wpm (I write fanfics and essays there), no problem at all. Obviously you can't get used to it in just mere days.
    * I also disagree with you, like some people have said below. I draw on Wacom Intuos on my PC so drawing on create pad feels normal, really, it's not unwanted. It's just a matter of whether you're used to it or not and preferences. In fact, I don't think I'd like drawing directly on the screen anyway, so this suits me, and more importantly, the pen doesn't use battery or rechargeable.
    * Taking notes is a great experience.
    * Sure, it has lower specs but it never hangs on me. It can even run Nox (emulator) and play not-too-heavy-gacha-games pretty well.
    * I read PDFs and epubs on SumatraPDF. No problem at all.
On another note, the 2nd gen (Lenovo Yoga Book C930) is looking good, but the price is too high for me, so this is a good choice for now.

    Awesome review, thanks!
I got a 4GB 12.5" Thinkpad Yoga a few years ago for taking notes in meetings/remoting into my desktop, but despite being pretty small it's still way too large to use as a tablet and doesn't have enough memory for the main software I use. This device looks great, I'm just afraid the keyboard would be way too weird... it'd take significant time to get used to.

Im a 22 year old professional who is constantly needing to digitize my scribbles. I dont think il use the keyboard that much, but to be able to draw on a pad and have it digitized at the same time is perfect. So the fact that it does this feature well is definitely the selling point for me.

I plan to use this for studying and writing. All my algorithms will be written out and saved. I can write notes while watching TH-cam and it's all saved. I plan on writing notes on this and then they will be searchable. That is better than a regular notebook.

I talked with Lenovo Tech Support, and they told me that you can buy the Lenovo Yoga Book with Android 6.0.1 and convert it to Windows. Just put it on the SD-card and you're good to go. If you wanna only buy it for 500. But the downside is that, they don't support it as in the garanty disappear. (from Denmark - not good at english.

I love the form factor. They simply have to improve. I am thinking of getting one. This has to become a standard for future hybrid tablets. For reading books and taking school notes it has the perfect design. I am a teacher, they should develop programs that can for example allow my student to either take notes on digital copies of students note books. It would save much paper and would be cheaper for student to buy a digital book. I see a similar product to the Yoga Book as the future student companion. It has to come to this.

Love the concept. Reminds me of the old Microsoft Courier project from back in 08. This version isn't quite there for me, but I hope they stay the course because I want a version 2 or 3. What I would like to see is like you said, Touch Force like key board and USB C port. Also I think they should have a dual boot option that you can have both Android and Windows on it and a button to select at startup or maybe even switch during use. I think it's dual nature design would make it a perfect fit to market a dual boot model. The price point is perfect though, just not quite ready for me to switch from my Dell just yet. Thanks for the great review.

This is the First ultrabook style/class machine that interests me for basic business productivity at a very reasonable price - where the other underpowered overpriced Ultrabook style machines cost nearly as much as a very capable Asus GS502VR with a 1070! An interesting mix of abilities retaining a mix of AV compatible IO for business/class presentation use.

Do you think that Win10 is work the extra USD$50 MSRP over the Android model? I've been thinking about getting a new tablet for a while for doing a little bit of drawing plus web browsing, TH-cam and the like when I don't want to get my XPS 15 9550 and my phone not up to the task. The Yoga Book is intriguing with its paper input ability and is much less expensive than the Surface and all its clones. Plus I like the AnyPen tech, being able to you any metal object as a rudimentary stylus

Just another perspective from a long time user of multiple intuos products: I really do enjoy drawing on a 'blind' tablet; not necessarily more than drawing directly on screen. Perhaps the familiarity is at play but there it gets so natural that there is no "look up + look down" darting between the screen and tablet, probably due to the mapping. In this light, I'd prefer drawing separately on a non-display surface when the display is not monitor-sized huge compared to drawing directly on the display and having the hand occlude part of the image (it does matter in my case).

I actually have one of those pens, and the screen didn't react to it.

Off topic, the samsung slate pen, the original Wacom pens that came out for their 2013 10.1 and 2014 tablets and the pens with the erasers that were sold differently all work perfectly on the pad. At least on the Android ver.

The Yoga Book fits beyond well within my budget and I'm looking for a laptop right now. I'm a high school student. Should I get this? Will the Atom x5 slow me down or is it fine for someone like me?

Interesting but I'd stick to my Surface Pro 3 for now. Whatever happened to the dual screen tablet concepts like Kno, MSI? That's what I've been waiting for.

    Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the nice review. I am considering to buy this Tablet for browsing internet, watching hd videos and most importantly working with Microsoft excel and word (5-10MB files) . Do you think it is suitable for these sort of things? Thanks

I love the form factor. I'm comfortable with either a Wacom pad or drawing on-screen (which is to say that good tactile feel will trump a bad (too slippery) on-screen experience), but I'm curious what it this device might be like with Android and Procreate?

Hi Lisa, can you do a review about the NEW Alienware 15? It has a new design this year. I am pretty interested in its new design of fans and the cooling system.

It's smaller and lighter than hybrids. I carry a notebook and a small laptop (Macbook Air) for business. I write notes, fill and sign contracts, check emails, etc. I can save my notes electronically in real time, instead of scanning later if I wanted to do that. There is value there. I have a use for this, but I realize not everyone does.

for artists this is beautiful, she is obviously not used to using wacom tablets that don't have a screen... I love it, the amount of work you can do on this little thing (who ever is reading this, forget the windows version, go for android works way better with the processor).

no, it's actually the opposite for us on here that use paper notebooks but want digital features. i believe highly in the direct connection between handwriting/notes/sketching/brainstorming with your hand and the brain vs just typing notes. for us that use analog notebooks, this is a possible holy grail device...

iMovie from Apple is specific to Apple products only. You'd have to find another piece of freeware or use Windows Maker Maker, through the Windows Essentials bundle.
