@jakeswanson8579 The R1T "starting" around $70k puts it in Rebel/Tremor territory with those two hitting $80-90k with options, similar to the R1T. They may not have the power of the Rivians but they offer the convenience of gas not needing to take time to recharge, potentially better off-road prowess, and the ability to work in all climates/not be limited by things like cold weather.
How do you charge these things while you’re out on the trail? If you run out of gas, you could borrow some from somebody else but what do you do about electric charge?
They'll probably be rescue service businesses created where specialized EVs with huge battery storage can come out and charge your vehicle up enough to get ya to the nearest charging station.
You clearly don’t off-road. Not saying this to be mean, but if you did off-road you’d realize that a 300-400 mile radius (sure cut that even lower for off roading) is more than enough to traverse most off road trails. Rivian completed the Rubicon trail with the R1S in 2 day with a mostly stock vehicle (they added a winch and rock rails). That’s insane, look up some TH-cam videos of the vehicles that attempt that trail. They are all heavily modified. I personally just completed a 700+ mile road trip from MN to San Diego and hit every State Park (with mountain bike in tow) along the way. I did quite a quite a bit of off-roading along the way, not a problem at all. The “scariest” part was probably traveling from Joshua Tree park to Vegas. I went through Death Valley and half way through, there was a road closure. I just off-roaded around the barricade and made it to the next charger,no problem.
@@fpartidafpartida LOL. Assuming anyone that asks a question, like the original commentor did, has never off roaded is silly. I guess you've never run out of fuel in your life anywhere ever? I'm not ashamed to admit that I have both on and off road. Accidents happen and I'm sure there are plenty of people over the years that have ran out of fuel off roading. So it would stand to reason there might be people running out of electric juice as well. And actually people carry extra fuel cans on their off road vehicles for that exact reason. So the original commenter's question is very valid. As are the other responses aside from yours. Honestly no disrespect meant just want ya to think about your comment.

They aren't going after the mass market. They are going after the individual that can afford it, but something different than the gas vehicles. Plus the first few generations of cars are priced to cover R&D and manufacturing cost. They will eventually produce their "mass market" vehicle
Yep! The cost to repair is ridiculous and can total a new vehicle. Wish they’d redesign the front to not make it look so strange
Gosh everything is so expensive imagine you knock off the mirror.
How do you charge these things while you’re out on the trail? If you run out of gas, you could borrow some from somebody else but what do you do about electric charge?
You can charge a ev with another ev
@@fpartidafpartida - well, my question was honest and not a rip. Well, generally, I don’t trust electric vehicles I do not know that capability. No I don’t off-road, yet… My son is starting and I am investigating getting my first vehicle to do so with him ; so I have a lot of questions.
Not for off road overlanding, can’t imagine getting stuck in the forest without power. Not going to haul a solar charger also. ICE wins here, specially 2024 Toyota LC and Lexus GX.
Just too expensive. Great for rich folks. Hope they make money with these and survive.
