I have a shop on TpT and the rule of thumb upon the bloggers was to go create names for your brand on every app you can think of....gmail, TpT, IG, X, whatsapp, Snap Chat,etc. so that no one can grab them. You may want to do that.

Shawna, thank you for doing these videos. I've got over 3,000 sales and perfect scores on ebay but that was years ago and I'm now trying to get established with POD in Etsy and Ebay. I'm also an advertising manager and my brain is fried on new ideas for work and now my shop. I've started with mugs and added the niche of Trigiminal Neuralgia and some journals.
I just wanted to thank you and I've learned much from your videos, and certainly need to research better. I'm worried about making sure my designs are unique so it doesn't come off as a copy. I can't believe the stuff people will do to use other's items or ideas.

Shawna, I can relate to being so upset about copycat and theives who copy screenshot my mockups and put them up in their shop on Etsy or another website!!! It can bring your productivity to a hault. One of my best selling designs became a best seller in other shops and I was losing money. I stopped putting new listings up and my momentum slowed. Now I am trying to get back up that hill. 😢

I have been following your advice! Doubling down, using your techniques for making value added designs and it’s paying off!! ( with ads) I sold 8 things today! Although one item was priced wrong after the sale price and I made 38cents. Haha but I fixed that up and hopefully it ends in a review!

I have some best sellers and I'm afraid it will fall off the best seller wagon..but I'm definitely going to make different variations using my best seller designs

I am confused about holiday items. Once the listing expires after the holiday season, do you renew and leave them up all year or do you leave them dormant and reactivate in July? I am not sure which is best for SEO.
Hey there! It is totally OK to let them sit in the expired folder while not in season, but you will want to be consistent and responsible enough to get them back out there when the time comes!

Hi Shawna! I currently have a bestseller that’s a sweatshirt and people have been asking for it in different tshirt forms. Should I just add T-shirts to that listing or should I make new separate tshirt listings with the same design? I also have a different bestseller in an adult shirt that people have been asking for in a child version. Do I add those sizes to the original listing or make new child sized shirt listings? I’m still a little confused on how to double down that way. Thanks for another great video! ❤
I would add tshirts to that listing so it can go crazy with orders and maintain its best seller status!
Yay for your best seller! and great question! BOTH! BOTH! BOTH! I would add those options to the drop down menu to help convert anyone clicking into it! But I would also do a new listing up with SEO targeting the shirt and the shirt being the main mock up photo. I hope this helps!!!

Hey there! I have gone back and forth with this! For the last year I had them on manual so I could get rid of a bunch of the losers! But now I am switching everything back to auto! I have hurt more than just the one listing I shared not getting it back out there in time!
oh geez - I check my expired listings at the end of every day - because I don't have them all on auto-renew. Maybe a good habit to try. Also - I had a few shirts that didn't sell at all - they were ready to renew and I was debating whether to delete it. I knew it was a good design but maybe not enough demand. Anyway - I just renewed it and turned on ads - and yesterday sold 10 of one of them I was going to delete and 2 of another one. These are travel shirts so not really seasonal.

Shawna - I was going to wait until July to relist my Christmas shirts from last year - but instead I added them plus new ones early June and I started selling Christmas shirts in June! I might just put this on auto renew and keep them in my shop. I find people buy Holiday shirts at weird times - like my Easter shirts sold after Easter. But on a sad note - I'm starting to see copy-cats too. Some of them are on very new shops so they're not really getting sales. Majority of my designs, including most of my best sellers, are very original and detailed and people can't really copy them exactly - I did that on purpose.
Good job Cindy!!!! I actually sell Christmas stuff every single month of the year! I can't believe how early some people get started! I am such a slacker! And good job making unique designs. That will definitely deter the copycats!
@@shawnalynn2083 Thanks Shawna. I know I guess some people figure if they see a Christmas shirt in April - they will need it eventually - lol! I'm going to keep holiday shirts on auto renew. I spent my 1st year learning what sold. My 2nd year I'm deleting ones with no demand and making more of ones with demand. This has become a full-time job for me. Even when my husband and I finally went on vacation this year - I turned off sales - so everything was regular price - thinking I could concentrate on our vacation - I sold so much that week it paid for our trip!

They want to take the shortcut and capitalize on all the hours and hours and hours you have put into your work. This is just unacceptable! This might just be me - but I do very little of my research on Etsy. When I was brand new - I was worried the temptation to just copy others to get started was too great -and just changing it a little wasn't enough. Now I'm in my 2nd year and I know what my customers like - so I make more of those. I will occasionally check if there is demand for something on Etsy - but generally I use other sites and research tools outside of Etsy to know whether a shirt is likely to sell or not. When I do the same thing as others - they never sell - the shirts that sell for me - and I have over 1500 listings - are the ones that are completely unique. My husband tried this in his shop - and he's just lost. So I guess everyone has their own journey.

@@shawnalynn2083 My husband has a shop - but I keep asking him every day - aren't you going to list anything today? If I didn't ask he wouldn't. Then he does like one listing and asks a million questions. Sad to say - I think he's eventually going to just give it up. It's not for everybody.

Hey Shawna, what is your take on leaving a seasonal listing active well after a season has past. Or, either intentionally deactivating or letting the listing expire? I have all of my listing to Auto Renew. But, I didn't know if you've seen any negative effects of you listings within the algorithm by doing one or the other. Or, I guess which scenario is less damaging to your listing? Thank you for the great content!

Hi there! List 45 to 90 days ahead! You can keep double downing on your efforts until about 30 days before but don't jump in and start that late! I hope this makes sense!
Shawna- I’ve watched your double down video! Love it!! But how would you double down on a custom design? Like literally just a T-shirt that says “custom” in one design style.
Hey there! You might target different types of customers who might want custom designs... Like companies who want to have their logo printed or for an employer who wants to have their staff all wear matching shirts with a specific design. And if you have a custom listing like that taking off you might try listing it one or two more times but show maybe a different brand tee like comfort colors or show it on a different color shirt. Might even try a mug or a tote! I hope this gives you some ideas!

Just curious about the way to listing faster, in your previous video you mentioned about copying existing Etsy listing and edit it for a new listing, as far as i know, doing that will not be changing the SKU# for the new listing., do you copy all the SKU# in printify and paste it in Etsy listing?? wouldn’t that trouble you so much? Correct me if I’m wrong 😊
Hey there! This WILL copy your Sku into the new listing! So when I do that with Printify I am A/B testing something and I want the Skus in the new listing because it is the same design. I use Printful for group listings and there are no SKUs. Nothing is synced in this case. I sync those as I get orders over in Printful. I hope that makes at least SOME sense!

Hey Shawna! I too may have hurt a best seller by changing the main photo. People used to say the item was better than in the pictures so I thought improving them would increase sales. The new picure showcased the item better, but was a bit less impactful. Do you believe this has to do with the picture quality, or would it be something algorythm-related?
Hey there! It is such a bummer... right?!? Both! To the best of my knowledge there is something algorythm related happening when we change our main mock up photo. It plays into our listings quality score and when we change it it can mess with the ranking we were earning. AND that original photo was working... there just might be something about it that you didn't realize that was helping to get the click! Hope this helps!

Hi Shawna! I'm working on getting my ornaments back up. I had a couple of best sellers last year that I left up and continued to make sales. I went into my print procider and noticed that the ornaments are glossy now. I need to update my photos. I updated my information in my photo card, didn't touch title or tags, but what do I do about photos? I don't want to kill my best sellers. Thanks.

HI Shawna, Why when doing research for something as general as CHRISTMAS SHIRT, I'm getting results for top coffee shirts or Halloween bestsellers (which I researched for halloween etc) ? Do you think it's because I'm in Chrome and not opening an incognito window?
Hey there! Great question! I should do a video on this! You might try NOT searching by best seller at this time of year. There are not really any best sellers for the system to pull from yet so it is pulling all kind of off topic things! I like to use Everbee to help me in this case! I can use the product analytics to see which listings have performed the best over time to get my research done. Hope this helps!
Hi, I wanted to ask you whether there is any possibility for an audit of an Etsy Shop or what you would suggest if one wants to go through a fairly new Etsy shop with an expert and get advise on what to change or improve. I opened my shop around 1 month ago and have 48 sales, I am working on it daily, it is a bit niche, but I feel like I am editing everything a lot and trying out different strategies and still not quite sure, what is the right way to go.

Hi Shawna I started my Etsy shop in 2000 I have listed only ten item I got 10 sale total in 4 yrs. I was making more sales in eBay store. So I pretty much closed my Etsy store. I just reopened back yesterday.do I have to list every day ? How it works
Hey there! First of all... you must have great designs out the gate because I would never have been able to have sold my first 10! I grew my shop by listing weekly... worked on the process every day but actually posted the listings about twice a week. The better you are at the market research the fewer you have to post, but my learning curve was a big one! To maintain my sales now I still list weekly. But I don't have to put out as many. When I don't list for several weeks my sales dip... BIG TIME and it takes me a few months of consistent listing to get everything back on track. Hope this helps!

Hello, I have a quick question which I Hope you can answer to :) I opened my shop in 2021, sold 2/3 items and got a review then I stopped using Etsy. I started using it again months ago: I changed the title, got better graphic, I consistently work on it but get around 10/12 visits per day, sometimes even less than that. I sold a few things but it's usually 1 item per month. Do you think it could be because my shop was left unused for a long time? I tried everything, I dont get what I am doing wrong anf it's frustrating. Thank you in advance
Hey there! It would help if I knew how many new listings you have up, how long it took you to get them up, and how many listings you are getting up weekly. BUT if that nagging thought is in the back of your mind that you might be fighting an uphill battle with a store that was dormant... than for mindset reasons if for no other it might be best to load them up into a new shop. But for what it is worth I would probably just get the one I have going unless that review you received was bad. Then I would just start again at this point. Hope this helps!
@@shawnalynn2083 Hello Shawna! so far I have 56 active listings but it took quite some time to get them up. I was told I need to add listings weekly and it's what I am trying to do, I just dont get why some of my competitors dont have many listings and thy still sell :D there are very different opinions about dormant Etsy shops, some people suggest to start a new ones and some others say you should try to revive it and this is what I am doing :) I have six reviews (most people dont leave reviews, unfortunately) and they're all very positive with a total rating of 5/5. Thank you for always being so kind and sweet to people, I really appreciate that
