I like your videos and I like your ideas, they’re innovative and logical but for a title like this I think we need to take what we get from insomniac. We don’t want too high expectations and end up with a bad game in general. Just look at what happened with R*
4:51 you actually can transform into the symbiote suit without going into the suit menu !! when using symbiote surge peter will transform into the anti venom suit briefly until the ability is over, i do wish there was a more permanent way but i thought it was a cool detail
i thought the same thing. had to rewind the video to make sure i heard him right. it’s just not something you notice unless you change out of the symbiotie suit
If I had to guess why certain suits dont have names like the raimi suit or something, I would say its because of rights, we dont know what insomniac does and doesn't have the rights to use as far as naming goes. As far as the homemade suit sharing thing. Its simple, no one cares that they have different source material, one is a homemade suit for peter and the other is the homemade suit for miles, its about aesthetics. It is as you put it, nitpicky and overall I don't think there really needs to be much renaming done, just some tweaks here and there to streamline it, but getting annoyed about the 2 homemade suits having different source material is annoying considering they are the only homemade suits in the game.
It’s not really a downgrade as the suit powers were already pointless in the first game. I only wanted to wear some of my suits in the Insomniac Spider-Man games, and that’s about it. I play Spider-Man games for the suits and nothing else.
Did you see their interview where they said they had to remake all the suits to work with the webwings and thats why not all of them made it in? It seems perhaps it wasn't as easy as copy as paste from the lld game after all?
now i dunno bout having us being able to make suits like other games do cuz normally i feel like that's too "freeing". but i wish u were able to customize each colours instead of just preset colours. now it's cool they added it to begin with but it's just a missed opportunity. you could turn a suit u didn't like into a suit u now love. like the 2099 miles suit. i didn't like it in mile's game. but because of the different colours now i do. but i wish i could make my own unique colour suit to my liking. and what's with the dlc and movie suits not having recolours like every other suit? that's just plain stupid. hell the dlc ones should cuz U PAY MORE FOR THEM. i was super disappointed that it was just the suits for the dlc and like before. wasn't a fan. but if they let us control and my our own presets then i would be happy. even more so if the venom suit was something u could go into instead of going into the suits to change it. kinda like how it happens when u go surge mode. but it's not perfect with surge cuz u go right back to normal suit. i was hoping that every individual suit would get a venom suit design. even if it was in the recolour section. to make them feel more unique and not limiting to the few u can get. like how the rami black suit isn't a symbiote suit in the game which i and many others are a bit annoyed about. what u can do here is have the rami suit turn into the black rami suit when transforming into ur black suit. and give it some of the black suit properties like venom ability traversal when swinging with the suit then just normal peter legs in the black rami suit. there problem solved i know that's a big ask but that would be so cool. hell it would be cool to even change the colour of the symbiote colours too. same with the venom attacks too. or peters spider legs. or miles lightning. little optimizations would be big. wish we had suit powers back too... they were cool
Not a big fan of some of Peters suit selections. Way too many MCU suits, and the lack of Peters ITSV suit was weird considering the fact that Miles has like 3. Also kinda hate how the first games noir suit was really accurate but lacked the coat, and now when they finally have the chance to add it, they completely replace the suit with the ITSV styled version.
12:59 For me, the third recolor, with the dark blue, is PERFECT! I played a lot the game with this suit and sometimes it fits better than the canon suit. Simply perfect.

no lie customizations would be fire. i really liked the scarlet 3 spider suit in spiderman 2 but hated the shoes on it. the looked like some nike freeruns or some bs on a spidey suit. also disliked the back piece and the shoes on the superior suit. didnt like the akin showing on the secret wars. idk just alot of stuff i wouldnt have used. and some suits have pieces i wouldve used on others
AAA games don't add properly detailed customization because then they can't sell it to you later with DLC. They will never allow anything in a game that takes away from their bottom dollar.😕
You named one AAA studio out of around twenty five total. My opinion is based on the repeated behavior of the majority of AAA studios. I'm not sh!ting on developers (those that do all the work and bring all the passion), I dislike the greedy practices of the suites.

I actually like the idea of them gradually adding back in old suits. I feel like if all the og suits were in game it would feel weird having to unlock them again but it would also feel weird just having them. That being said i am a bit disappointed with the suits. I think it couldve been optimized more with the movie ones especially. There could have been one or two mcu suits with the rest being styles. Same goes for the other movie suits. That probably wouldve made the game feel less full of suits so we would've gotten more new ones

The suit powers wasn't for every suit. 1 The powers added bloat and in some cases created instant win buttons. 2 Honestly we need to stop focusing on the suit names and instead focus on the suits origins. We still arnt getting an explanation on what or where these suits are. Other super hero games fully tell you who made the costume. And where they first appeared and what they're called.

The Wolverine suit isn’t an Insomniac original it’s based on the “What if…? Miles Morales” mini series were they show a Wolverine Miles Morales in the second issue I believe
you said that in most of the games when you zoom into it, textures became blurry. but you showed a texture of text in comparison, and a tiled suit texture. a text is something that cannot be tiled, and its limited to the image resolution. tiled textures are not limited because they are tiny image scattered around so the quality does not decrease.
I would've loved to see them add a symbiote variant of each suit and color variants for the movie suits. I know there are licensing issues with those and maybe thats also why we haven't seen other spider-man suits from other games and tv shows but man that would've been amazing.
The game already has several alternate colours for the suits. I feel it wouldn't be THAT hard to slap on a black and white colour palette for most of the suits. Some might need more work than others obviously, like a symbiote 2099 suit would be extremely simple, while a symbiote Arachknight (the caped one) might be more tricky because of the details on the pants and torso.

i understand the points made in this video, but some of it really seems like serious nitpicking lol, this game has bigger issues than not having suit powers attached to the suits since it did it differently with the power system, and it would've removed some of the Symboite incentive

The game is great but we need more suits for Peter starting with the ultimate, unlimited, and spiders shadow symbiote suits. We also need the ability to switch suits during the cutscene missions.

the suits havent been all "ported" because they were not simply ported but redone and reworked and for some suits they had added details like new wing and/or spider-arms models. Yes they added all movies suit, thats what the fans asked. Mix and match suits parts would be a nightmare for designers to make it all work seemlessly together with every possible pieces style combinaisons, Some suits are like onesies, do you make a separate model for every "chest piece" and "pants piece" for every onesie suit that has to seam together perfectly aswell as with every other onesie suit pieces? But I must agree with most of the rest of the points you made (that are not only based on personnal preferences)

I agree with ability attach to suit to give incentive but you asking too much in my opinion on switching mask and detail. Building personal own suit would be interesting.
I’m going to be honest I didn’t like the suit powers in the first game because I didn’t ever use more than 5 of them outside of the first time I played the game because they were very situational or down right useless and the reason to unlock new suits in this game was for cosmetic purposes which is great. Also battle damage was in miles morales while it was lesser in miles morales it was still there. And here is my main problem with the customize your own suit idea. While it may look cool it takes out almost all the creativity for insomniac to make suits and deliver us new and interesting suits so I think the customize your own suit should only be one slot that you get to use that way it gives what everyone wants.
Suit powers in my case were just a fun way of making fights look cooler or more flashy after the main main story. I don't think I ever used them during the story.
To be fair, the actual name almost everyone refers to the symbiote suit with is the "black suit" so I don't think you can blame them for calling it that...

The Parker civil clothing would be nice but it will always be relegated to mods, since swinging in plain clothes without a mask is lore shattering. And in similar vein - i would've loved to see parts of the mask ripped up showing miles/peter a bit, but it's also kind of lore iffy, so its fine without that detail
Honestly, my only real complaint is the fact we can't change suits in the final mission. I wanted to have Peter and Miles in their Classic outfits fighting Venom, not Future Fabrication and Stereotypical Colgate.
They said that suits needed to be remade for the ps5. They didn't look right with the gliding and they had other reasons that I don't remember. I don't think you understand video game development if you think what made it over from the previous games was just copy and paste.
I'm sure that bringing over old suits from the old games takes more effort than just copy-pasting a file from one folder to another and having the new engine render them with better shaders. Coming from last gen, the character models are probably actually made of fewer polygons than the new ones are, so any old assets would stick out and look to be a lower resolution.
i watched in interview with creative director he explained that although they brought over the manhattan map and some of suits from the previous games. they had to be remade for the ps5 graphics engine so it wasn’t as simple as just porting them over. if you look at comparisons you can tell a lot more detail has been added to both the map and suits

I would like a full customization feature for suits in Spider-Man 3. I think it would be really cool and plus it would add into the immersion that we are playing as Spider-Man if we would get to make our own suits.
Honestly for me, what makes Peters DDE Suits bad, is less that they look like "fortnite" skins, and more so that they look AI generated. Like HEAVLY AI generated.
Overall I think they still could’ve done a lot more, although on retrospect, maybe sm2 was mean to get through all of the sluggish stuff and the harder things out of the way such as web wings, two Spider-Men etc. I’ll be brutally honest and say that I think they focused too much on gimmicky stuff even if they were cool asf, like the venom playable section put the biggest smile on my face, however I understand that making a new playable character with their own gameplay, animations, attacks etc takes a lot of time and effort, which I feel wouldve been better well spent on actual gameplay between Peter and miles, including the animations they give for wraith and agent venom during free roam, I feel would’ve been better spent to the two Spider-Men. Overall I hope with all of the gimmicks out of the way in sm2, sm3 focus more on expanding and improving massively on its core gameplay mechanics and overall versatility rather than just introducing things that take too much time just for them to be barely interacted with
Okay lets be real a lot of suit powers were either weak or useless. I dont mind that change, but they definitely needed to add some kind of incentive for new suits. Though personally I would just want the suits just to collect them
Actually, they added and changed a lot in Manhattan. The cars ain’t the same anymore either, they added vans, new taxi cab models and a variety of new cars.
I love this game but there are problems: They got rid of the weapons wheel They got rid of the social media feed which means we don't see the normal side of the universe. They got rid of the character bios in the menu They got rid of the Jameson and Danikas recordings collectables so you cant hear them again Over 30 suits are missing Most special abilities that come with suits are missing the only 1 they kept are the arms which is now a default feature You have to unlock many standard things again instead of being available by default. More missing tech and gear Subways have been removed
I agree with everything you said but we do get to keep the symbiote suit after end game. I feel like the story was rushed and game was too short as well. If definitely needed more development time.
Interestingly enough, the first Amazing Spider-Man game brought Bruce Campbell back despite there being no relation to the Raimi films (aside from including the red and black Tobey Maguire suits as unlockable outfits); sadly he’s not the overall narrator, but he hosts some sort of racing challenges, IIRC. It’s only a nitpick, and I’m not going to lose any sleep over it, but it would have been neat if Insomniac continued that little tradition and gave him some sort of cameo in any of their Spider-Man games.
They obviously can't use the movie names for the movie suits because most of those belong to fucking Disney. They can't name it the Raimi suit because then they'd have to pay him to use his name. If you already know the context behind the movie suits then their basic description should be enough.
I definitely don't jive with some of your rankings. ESPECIALLY the TASM 1 suit. Anyone who hates on the TASM 1 suit doesn't understand it or how fitting it is to Garfield's Peter Parker during that movie. It also just DOES look good to me. I mean, MAYBE it could've had a belt and perhaps white (or blued?) lenses instead of the anti-glare yellow, but it deserves way better than a 2/5 rating.
You should do a video on the new Forza Motorsport its basically broken just like Pay Day 3 tons of bugs from cars spawning into each other on practice races , Missing maps , game crashes and personally the biggest issue the leveling up cars makes me feel like im playing call of duty but with cars .

I think not having suit specific powers is an upgrade, or at least a non issue. If you want powers, you can unlock them, if you want a particular suit, you can unlock it. The type of player you're talking about, who needs gameplay incentive to unlock suits doesn't care about the suit to begin with, just the gameplay incentive. So having these separated doesn't take away from the game at all. Don't care about the suits? You don't need to engage with the mechanic, simple.
Peter's suit line-up just sucks, I have other qualms with a game but with how much variety a simple suit change can add and how easy it should be to fix I think they should prioritise this first, just name it the "Peter Parker Love Update" or something because this man got no love in his wardrobe, then you have Miles with one of the best suit line-ups I've ever seen in a game.
My thoughts exactly like why does Miles get a carnage suit when he has no symbiote powers? I feel like Peter should have gotten at least a carnage color variant or something that changes the symbiote powers color to red.

Awesome video and while I do agree the suits are very detailed I feel like nobody is mentioning there are quite a few mesh and clipping issues with the suits that weren't apparent in the first game. Anti-Ock: Has parts of the yellow eye clipping through the black rimmed lenses and a small white square on his lower torso. All of the MCU red costumes and the black and gold have different mesh/clipping issues depending on the pose/ position Peter is in with each section of the MCU shutter lenses clipping into eachother. The Red Webbed suit also has part of the raised webbing clipping into the side of the eyes.
I think that you said most thing right the only thing that might have a reason not to happen is the customization because of the small details in the suits and that would made it really difficult for the time they had to do the game, but maybe not and that was just something they havent though of PS.if i said something wrong is because im not fluent in english
What you said at 1:25 is completely false btw. Porting the suits from the older games into the new one requires a lot of updating on the model to account for the higher fidelity and some of new mechanics. You can’t just say stuff like that without having any knowledge on what development is actually like.

I think it couldve been optimized more with the movie ones especially. There could have been one or two mcu suits with the rest being styles. Same goes for the other movie suits. That probably wouldve made the game feel less full of suits so we would've gotten more new ones

Honestly we need to stop focusing on the suit names and instead focus on the suits origins. We still arnt getting an explanation on what or where these suits are. Other super hero games fully tell you who made the costume. And where they first appeared and what they're called.

The Wolverine suit isn’t an Insomniac original it’s based on the “What if…? Miles Morales” mini series were they show a Wolverine Miles Morales in the second issue I believe

you said that in most of the games when you zoom into it, textures became blurry. but you showed a texture of text in comparison, and a tiled suit texture. a text is something that cannot be tiled, and its limited to the image resolution. tiled textures are not limited because they are tiny image scattered around so the quality does not decrease.

I would've loved to see them add a symbiote variant of each suit and color variants for the movie suits. I know there are licensing issues with those and maybe thats also why we haven't seen other spider-man suits from other games and tv shows but man that would've been amazing.
The game already has several alternate colours for the suits.
I feel it wouldn't be THAT hard to slap on a black and white colour palette for most of the suits.
Some might need more work than others obviously, like a symbiote 2099 suit would be extremely simple, while a symbiote Arachknight (the caped one) might be more tricky because of the details on the pants and torso.

The game is great but we need more suits for Peter starting with the ultimate, unlimited, and spiders shadow symbiote suits. We also need the ability to switch suits during the cutscene missions.

the suits havent been all "ported" because they were not simply ported but redone and reworked and for some suits they had added details like new wing and/or spider-arms models.
Yes they added all movies suit, thats what the fans asked.
Mix and match suits parts would be a nightmare for designers to make it all work seemlessly together with every possible pieces style combinaisons, Some suits are like onesies, do you make a separate model for every "chest piece" and "pants piece" for every onesie suit that has to seam together perfectly aswell as with every other onesie suit pieces?

I’m going to be honest I didn’t like the suit powers in the first game because I didn’t ever use more than 5 of them outside of the first time I played the game because they were very situational or down right useless and the reason to unlock new suits in this game was for cosmetic purposes which is great.
Also battle damage was in miles morales while it was lesser in miles morales it was still there.
And here is my main problem with the customize your own suit idea. While it may look cool it takes out almost all the creativity for insomniac to make suits and deliver us new and interesting suits so I think the customize your own suit should only be one slot that you get to use that way it gives what everyone wants.

The Parker civil clothing would be nice but it will always be relegated to mods, since swinging in plain clothes without a mask is lore shattering. And in similar vein - i would've loved to see parts of the mask ripped up showing miles/peter a bit, but it's also kind of lore iffy, so its fine without that detail

Honestly, my only real complaint is the fact we can't change suits in the final mission. I wanted to have Peter and Miles in their Classic outfits fighting Venom, not Future Fabrication and Stereotypical Colgate.
They said that suits needed to be remade for the ps5. They didn't look right with the gliding and they had other reasons that I don't remember. I don't think you understand video game development if you think what made it over from the previous games was just copy and paste.

I'm sure that bringing over old suits from the old games takes more effort than just copy-pasting a file from one folder to another and having the new engine render them with better shaders. Coming from last gen, the character models are probably actually made of fewer polygons than the new ones are, so any old assets would stick out and look to be a lower resolution.

i watched in interview with creative director he explained that although they brought over the manhattan map and some of suits from the previous games. they had to be remade for the ps5 graphics engine so it wasn’t as simple as just porting them over. if you look at comparisons you can tell a lot more detail has been added to both the map and suits

I would like a full customization feature for suits in Spider-Man 3. I think it would be really cool and plus it would add into the immersion that we are playing as Spider-Man if we would get to make our own suits.
Honestly for me, what makes Peters DDE Suits bad, is less that they look like "fortnite" skins, and more so that they look AI generated. Like HEAVLY AI generated.

Overall I think they still could’ve done a lot more, although on retrospect, maybe sm2 was mean to get through all of the sluggish stuff and the harder things out of the way such as web wings, two Spider-Men etc. I’ll be brutally honest and say that I think they focused too much on gimmicky stuff even if they were cool asf, like the venom playable section put the biggest smile on my face, however I understand that making a new playable character with their own gameplay, animations, attacks etc takes a lot of time and effort, which I feel wouldve been better well spent on actual gameplay between Peter and miles, including the animations they give for wraith and agent venom during free roam, I feel would’ve been better spent to the two Spider-Men.
Overall I hope with all of the gimmicks out of the way in sm2, sm3 focus more on expanding and improving massively on its core gameplay mechanics and overall versatility rather than just introducing things that take too much time just for them to be barely interacted with

Actually, they added and changed a lot in Manhattan. The cars ain’t the same anymore either, they added vans, new taxi cab models and a variety of new cars.
I love this game but there are problems:
They got rid of the weapons wheel
They got rid of the social media feed which means we don't see the normal side of the universe.
They got rid of the character bios in the menu
They got rid of the Jameson and Danikas recordings collectables so you cant hear them again
Over 30 suits are missing
Most special abilities that come with suits are missing the only 1 they kept are the arms which is now a default feature
You have to unlock many standard things again instead of being available by default.
More missing tech and gear
Subways have been removed
I agree with everything you said but we do get to keep the symbiote suit after end game. I feel like the story was rushed and game was too short as well. If definitely needed more development time.

Interestingly enough, the first Amazing Spider-Man game brought Bruce Campbell back despite there being no relation to the Raimi films (aside from including the red and black Tobey Maguire suits as unlockable outfits); sadly he’s not the overall narrator, but he hosts some sort of racing challenges, IIRC. It’s only a nitpick, and I’m not going to lose any sleep over it, but it would have been neat if Insomniac continued that little tradition and gave him some sort of cameo in any of their Spider-Man games.
They obviously can't use the movie names for the movie suits because most of those belong to fucking Disney. They can't name it the Raimi suit because then they'd have to pay him to use his name. If you already know the context behind the movie suits then their basic description should be enough.
The red and black style of the Advanced Suit 2.0 is the best suit in the game for me.
I was genuinely disappointed that they didn't call the Stealth Suit instead as the Night Monkey suit. It was the whole joke in the movie.
I definitely don't jive with some of your rankings. ESPECIALLY the TASM 1 suit. Anyone who hates on the TASM 1 suit doesn't understand it or how fitting it is to Garfield's Peter Parker during that movie. It also just DOES look good to me. I mean, MAYBE it could've had a belt and perhaps white (or blued?) lenses instead of the anti-glare yellow, but it deserves way better than a 2/5 rating.

You should do a video on the new Forza Motorsport its basically broken just like Pay Day 3 tons of bugs from cars spawning into each other on practice races , Missing maps , game crashes and personally the biggest issue the leveling up cars makes me feel like im playing call of duty but with cars .

The venom suit has always been the black suit, or venom suit.
I think not having suit specific powers is an upgrade, or at least a non issue. If you want powers, you can unlock them, if you want a particular suit, you can unlock it.
The type of player you're talking about, who needs gameplay incentive to unlock suits doesn't care about the suit to begin with, just the gameplay incentive. So having these separated doesn't take away from the game at all.
Don't care about the suits? You don't need to engage with the mechanic, simple.
I agree you but about the suit powers i gotta be honest i only really use 3 suit powers the rest i barely use. So it's not really a downgrade for me.
Peter's suit line-up just sucks, I have other qualms with a game but with how much variety a simple suit change can add and how easy it should be to fix I think they should prioritise this first, just name it the "Peter Parker Love Update" or something because this man got no love in his wardrobe, then you have Miles with one of the best suit line-ups I've ever seen in a game.

Awesome video and while I do agree the suits are very detailed I feel like nobody is mentioning there are quite a few mesh and clipping issues with the suits that weren't apparent in the first game. Anti-Ock: Has parts of the yellow eye clipping through the black rimmed lenses and a small white square on his lower torso. All of the MCU red costumes and the black and gold have different mesh/clipping issues depending on the pose/ position Peter is in with each section of the MCU shutter lenses clipping into eachother. The Red Webbed suit also has part of the raised webbing clipping into the side of the eyes.

What you said at 1:25 is completely false btw. Porting the suits from the older games into the new one requires a lot of updating on the model to account for the higher fidelity and some of new mechanics. You can’t just say stuff like that without having any knowledge on what development is actually like.
