    Such gorgeous pieces!!! The one lobster hole agate with no fractures would make a great pair of earrings to showcase the red flame, amethyst, and the black opal. I love hearing the enthusiasm in your voice as you describe potential projects to us. Thank you for a great video, as always, Jason. I'm looking forward to your online store once you have your stock ready to go. Have a great weekend, and say hi to the family, please.

    All of them are incredible in their own way but the tree agate with amethyst blew me away! And the flames on that lobster hole agate were gorgeous 🤩

    Cape Blomidon and Cape Split yield such an amazing personality of rocks! Picking a favourite from this video is tough. I have a soft spot for seeing purple, but Tree Rock kind of stood out for me today!

    I can't even pick a favorite lol 😂. Everything was beautiful in its own right. You never go wrong with the Lobster Hole seam agate, but the Tree Rock was gorgeous and the other (I won't attempt to spell it) was so colorful and pretty! I loved the big hunk rock too!

    That pyrite block would look great polished. Pyrite takes deacent shine (messy and smelly job). If the rock stays a bit matt, that would bring out the pyrite shine even more.

      @Rockhounding Life I have a bunch of pyrite forms that eroded from chalk. It's more massive than crystalline. Takes brilliant metallic polish, but... everything is covered in black residue after working on it. And smells of sulphur so badly I can only work it outside. The only good thing is that it's soft, so it doesn't take long to finish. But I am still mildly traumatised after the last session and will not touch it unless I run out of everything else to work on😆

    The ones that fractured pretty bad I'd make rings out of honestly. Or chips people love buying chips. Awesome video though watched this at 3:30 am

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      I try to pick samples with litte fracturing and try to work around fractures that are there. I do have other samples that are very fractured.

    That last piece, the dolomite/galena/pyrite, I understand that it doesn't take the greatest polish, but maybe you could use Resin on the slab of it that you cut? Just a suggestion.

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. We wilp eventually do something like that. Probably epoxy.

  • @ccccarriemchardy9216

    The pyrite, galena mix is my favorite, its completely different. You could shape and resin coat it.

    Wow!! That amethyst at 2:10 is absolutely stunning. I’m certain that must have been an extremely rare find, but I was wondering if you had any tips on how I might be lucky enough to find one myself? Thanks!

      @@RockhoundingLife Yes, sorry I should have mentioned that! I’ve been to Blomidon once before so I’m only slightly familiar with the area. Im graduating from engineering at Dal in a few short weeks and wanted to take a trip up that way after to rockhound. I love rocks but I was only able to take one geology course in the first year of my degree, so I certainly lack the knowledge and experience to be able to find something amazing as this without some tips, so anything you could add would be greatly appreciated.

      I would start somewhere easy to get to first like Ross Creek beach or Scots Bay beach. Anywhere around Cape Split is tricky and a bit dangerous to get to if you dont know what you are doing. Best to do those areas with someone experienced. I suggest joining an online NS rock group like on Facebook and try to meet people who take regular trips out there.

    I always thought that cutting metallic rocks was bad for the saw, maybe Galena and pyrite don't count? Also, what type of ore deposit is it? Looks sort of like the Gay's River mine MVT waste but I'm not sure.

      PS think the black with the pyrite crystals is my fave. Yowza! Tough choice. Is the teensy bit of amethyst cab-able in some of the white matrix? Would be lovely.
