    I bought the same for making product clips for reviews. It works well on both table top and rails. Rails though you have to be careful that it doesn't fall off! I couldn't afford a full time slider.

      OMG thank you sooooo much for telling us this! The "Grip Gear Directors Set" includes not just a motor that can be attached to a track, but that same motor can also be used to be converted into a 3-wheel dolly setup, just like the Neewer or Andoer in the above video!

    Great video. Have you tried mounting a gimbal onto it? You might get smoother result right out of the camera. But I’d definitely want to tried this gadget out.

    • @MikusAusters
      @MikusAusters  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven't tried it, because the first thought that comes to mind is that a gimbal would be to big and heavy for the motorized camera dolly. But I will give it a try for scientific purposes upcoming week and let you know how it went.
      A camera gimbal could be to big for this thing, but probably a smartphone gimbal with a smartphone could be just fine, but still have to test that as well.

    nice video! Does this slider support the weight of a 90d + a 24-70 2.8 USM II? I bought a manual slider from neewer long time ago that was similar to this but despite the specs stating that it supported up to 5kg, my camera was falling forward all the times....

    • @MikusAusters
      @MikusAusters  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven't used it with such camera setup, so I can just guess. I used Sony a7iv with a camera cage, and that would be more or less in the size and weight of your camera. But the lens I used was Sigma 28-70 F2.8, and it is lighter and shorter than Canon 24-70 2.8 USM II. At the same time, your setup doesn't seem to be extremely heavy, and I would guess that it should be fine. Especially if the lens points in the direction where the two wheels are, the weight should even. out.

    I have a similar one but with the brand called "king joy". Yours seems more robust since I was never able to repeat perfectly the same movement twice with mine. I have used it for product videos as a mini slider / dolly but haven't been able to use it for combining different shots like you have done here. Did you have any issues aligning the different shots in post?

    • @MikusAusters
      @MikusAusters  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well I wouldn't say it is super easy to repeat the exact same movement, but with a little bit of patience and adjustments it is definitely doable. And I just love the fact that it can be done with this gadget that costs so little. When it comes to post production the easiest way to align the shots is by placing them on top of each other and lowering the opacity for the clip that is above. Then moving the clip and looking for the moment that aligns. These clips will definitely need some stabilization in post to be buttery smooth. And that is the moment when it gets tricky. Because after warp stabilization there can be some difference in the scale. But with little bit of scaling in and repositioning it can be done.
      And above all, before filming, you want make sure that the surface you are using for the mini dolly is smooth and even, because any small bumps can cause the dolly to shake or change trajectory and you won't be able to create that repetitive motions. Hope this helps! :)

      If you mean for the cheese commercial, then zooming would be a different kind of movement than sliding, and doing it handheld wouldn't be as smooth and even. As for the oter project, the same thing plus rotation and being able to achieve exactly the same movement at least twice or even more.

    • @MikusAusters
      @MikusAusters  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's sad to hear you have had bad experience with these mini motorized dollies, but I haven't experienced any battery issues with my dolly. As for the shakiness, yes it is a bit shaky, but it can be fixed in post and I cover that in the video as well. In the end this is not a pro level tool and if it would be perfect in every way it would cost a LOT more, but at the same time it is a budget level tool that can be used for certain things and has been useful in my work for specific things. That is what the video is about. So I think you are over reacting here. :)
