Would you respect anyone claiming leprechauns exist, or that unicorns exist, would you respect anyone or any organisation that claimed what they and no one else could prove. So tell me why one should respect any religion or apologetics of any religion.
I love this kid. He's not looking to fight or argue. He's being fair. He's being honest. He is working through his doubt point by point, and he's not changing his argument as he goes. He's looking for truth.
He is questioning his indoctrination, and I'll equipped to do so, unable to decipher what he can accept as true and what not, from all he has been indoctrinated to believe in and all he has been told . Surely though he should be aware no one can prove square circles exist, anymore than anyone can prove or disprove any such thing as gods exist, and why is it that he even thinks it's something to argue over when every arguement by any attempting to argue gods into existence has failed.
I honestly wish I would have been like him when I was an atheist . I was a little more rebellious and argumentative. Luckily God humbled me and called me to him
I appreciated how everyone was listening respectfully; Mr. Cliffe Knechtle was also listening respectfully. There were differences in opinions, and because both were willing to try and understand each others point of view, there was peace.
This man is a deep thinker. He's asking very intelligent questions and making logical points. Cliffe's humble responses says more about Jesus than it says about himself. His understanding and his ability to answer logically and carefully is truly a gift
That man is also humble, and I always believe that 'humility' is a way to reason and mutual understanding between people in conversations which I can definitely see in this vid. God. bless this man🙏.
I wanted to hug the guy half way through this debate, not Cliffe but the student. He's incredibly intelligent it seems, quite gifted in fact in his ability to reasonably articulate his mind. He genuinely seemed like he was searching for absolute truth, and I pray he wasn't mocked or made fun of for his seemingly awkward posture at times. Not all communication looks or sounds the same, but you can really miss out on God's potential being lived through a particular person when you judge them. God made him the exact way he needs to be, and there's nothing at all abnormal or weird about it. He seems like a really complex dude who's trying to live with some kind of meaning, I'd love to be friends with him.
I love how Cliff is able to be so even tempered. I pray for this kind of patience when witnessing to non-believers. Thanks always for these great videos Cliff.
Jesus spoke and taught with authority, but we aren't Jesus. When in doubt remember he died for US, that includes imperfect Christian and the unbeliever.
@@dogelife7901Jesus died and rose again which extended a free gift of salvation, it's up to people to accept it and live as righteous as possible. I wouldn't say Jesus died for nonbelievers, because they aren't taking what he died for. I tell you this so you don't get the gospel and the saving grace confused
@@dkinley334Jesus died for everyone so no one is without excuse and the Apostle John makes it very clear that Jesus died and is the propitiation for the “whole” world. 1 John 2:2 2 “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2 Jesus did not only die for the elect, He died for whole world, and that means He died (Romans 5:8) for everyone. That doesn’t mean everyone is saved (universalism), but the sin debt has been paid for by Christ for everyone (John 19:30) on the Cross. One must receive Christ (John 1:12-13) and His forgiveness and we all must be born again (John 3:3-8) to receive “… the gift of GOD [which] is eternal life through Jesus Christ our LORD” (Romans 6:23b). I love this guy asking the question. He's very open, honest and intelligent. If only I was like that at his age. I hope you get there fella. I'm pretty sure you will. God's bless you in Yeshua's name.
Watch more of his videos- be does fairly often. But the stuff in the beginning about free will, and love- none of that is scripture. He then mentions how it is shown in scripture but those are his views and explanations. Other folks that agree with most everything he says totally disagree about free will. They stick to predestination at a viewpoint that God chooses the people that will be saved and he is not trying to save the majority of people that will go to hell. Like God had no intention for them ever to do anything but that- like how you would intend to buy some wood to carve a beautiful piece of art and another as fire wood. So neither view is 100% written exactly in scripture- but predestination is spoken about, just interpreted differently. I just really enjoyed the different view points being peacefully and thoughtfully discussed. Best to ya.

This is a beautiful conversation. The man asking questions is clearly seeking something higher than himself, he wants to believe something higher than us all, he just hasn’t found a way to bring himself to it because of the evils and cruelty of this world. Cliffe reassuring him that God suffers along with us is so important.
If God suffered then he would intervene and not just leave us in this mess and say it's because of free will. He wouldn't had created hell that people end up in for eternity.
The gentleman asking questions to Cliffe is awesome! I had that same level of curiosity and asking such questions led me to the Lord. I pray the same for this guy. God bless him and Cliffe

I like this young man. He’s searching and has an open mind without preconceived ideas cut in stone. He’s willing to listen. I have a feeling this young man is gonna come to Christ.
If the life of a child or innocent person is taken by God's order they will be with God in Heaven for eternity which is much better than being in a fallen world.
Cliff and this guy is the type of conversation I aspire to have with all people, this was a true demonstration on open mindedness regarding a debate rather than just being ready to validate your own opinions instead of truly listening (and that's goes for both sides of a argument regardless of stance)
This young man is very insightful, clear, and sincere. He really asked a lot of great questions we all should be able to answer. He reminds me of the one Pharisee Nicodemus that asked good questions sincerely.
I love how this guy is, he is so open minded and able to see your side without arguing intensely or getting loud, you can see the gears turning in his head. Debaters TAKE NOTES.
Cliffe, I want to express my sincerest thanks for your work. Your videos often come to mind when I debate others on Christianity, and even though I am not an apologetic I often use your arguments in combating their arguments.
It is an encouraging scene. All these young people listening to this debate when they could be doing anything else. Just having an open mind to listen and think for themselves will mean better communities they choose live and engage as adults.
Sometimes I’m think, wow they are really choosing to stay there whether they are considering what he is saying or are upset or challenging it, they still choose to stay and listen. I wonder if hearing an answer they didn’t like will turn them off , but who knows if that could encourage them to look for the answer.
Thank you Mr. Knechtle. We love you, we pray for you. But I think so is better: God doesnt limit His Power. God doesnt exercise His Power for reasons that we dont know, but He does know.

I am glad Cliffe has the wisdom to see who someone is. Still, proximity to a crime will get you charged. Your friend has weed in the car, the cops find it, who is guilty? Both you & him. You are the first on the scene of a murder. The cops will haul you in question you, maybe even charge you. Not because you did it, but you were there at that exact time & therefore there is a strong case to suggest it was you. Proximity will get you. God, unlike these laws, may let you die at any moment, but he *knew* if you were guilty. God won't punish the innocent. God is just, the world is not. Love seeing when people do agree with you Cliffe or politely disagree. This man was kind for sure. God Bless
Are you referring to the children being killed as well? Im still kinda confused about that part. My understanding was that the kids who were brought up by the evil society will likely become evil themselves because of proximity so therefore they are allowed to be killed too. Is that correct?
@@JoeMama-sd2kl 1) I don't know the outcome by the presets. Your premise isn't pertinent to the question about the kids future. 2) If kids are killed in the destruction of an evil society it is sad, but not beyond reason in war. Innocents die in every war. That includes kids. 3) Given an innocent is killed while you destroy evil, unless that was your intent, not a biproduct, it wouldn't be a moral issue. The most moral solution was taken. Of course, this isn't a cut & dry case. If you over simply any of my answers or don't read them charitably, then you can make it sound immoral. It wouldn't logically be do though. Ex) If an evil society had a bomb that will destroy the world & put their own children around it to stop you from destroying their ability to use said bomb, which you have reason to think they will use, you are justified in those children dieing. It isn't the right answer, but rather the least wrong one. It is less wrong to stop this plan to destroy creation at the cost of those kids lives, given you knew that choice must be made. Those kids were dead in both choices, in this one everyone else lives. Killing the kids of these evil people is the better choice. *What situation are you specifically asking about?* If it was just this Philosophical moral question, since you gave a nebulous set of criteria, those answers should be right. Do the lesser evil & the greater good. Of course, I don't know if you could know that without an objective moral set & a reasonable guide to application. You need God to know if you are doing the moral thing. Otherwise, it is your guess based on personal preference & that isn't a real moral. *If there is no Objective Good, you cannot approach it, nor define Evil objectively.*

after going buddhist for a couple years (life is suffering/ naturally very difficult-----> good karma) and i am back with Christ because i love trying to replicate His love and sacrifice more than reduction & meditation. I have listened to to dozens of apologists, I like this guy Cliff, he cares for his listeners even when they don’t care for him in many cases. His answers are understandable, logical, reasonable hence coherent.
I love the questions that the guy with the dreads is asking cliff. I love to talk about God's sovereignty and his grace in regard to the existence of evil and the origin of sin. God is so gracious that he does not violate anyone's volition, as he allows everyone to go their own way, but that his spirit does a miraculous work in the hearts of certain individuals, as he has revealed himself clearly and plainly in his creation and our consciences, and that though we are responsible and held accountable for going against our conscience via lying or stealing or any of the other commandments, he has given mankind a way out, and that is simply to believe his word, Jesus, and follow him. Babies and small children go straight to heaven if they die before the age of accountability. Those who never hear of God or the gospel are judged by what light is giving them, because God has revealed himself in his creation and in our consciences, meaning people in Faraway tribes who have never seen a Bible will be held accountable for their actions according to their god-given consciences. The Bible says that no one is responsible for anyone else's sin and that we are each held accountable individually according to the moral law, but that Jesus made that possible by giving his life as payment to satisfy the law of sin and death. "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus."- Romans 6:23. Whoever reads this, if you've ever asked the question "if God knew there would be such death and destruction, why did he do it? Why did he create Us in the first place and let us go through all of this?" The answer is simple. You'd be worth it to him.
I appreciate the young mans questions about fairness and when he brings up a child dying. I am that parent. For a while despite my faith - I was angry. However, my anger is gone and I thank God everyday for the 2 1/2 years I had with my son. I don’t ask why anymore….I now look at it as he is fulfilling his purpose that he was created for. As parents after losing our son - our perspectives on life has done a complete flip. Family comes first. Money means nothing nor does it bring happiness. My son in his short 2 1/2 years taught me more about life and love than I had learned in 36 years. He taught us how our priorities were messed up. I believe my son was born for greater purposes this life here on Earth could possibly give him. I know he is fighting the battles right now we do not see. I could never deny him that. I will forever be grateful for his life. And in his death - it essentially gave me life. As we went through brain cancer with him - the book of Job was always forefront in my mind.

Thank you for being open to letting people question and you posting and sharing this, a lot of us have similar questions and curiosity and I’m glad we can find the knowledge here!
Sometimes what appears evil on the surface leads to greater growth than we'll know. For example, without getting into detail, I was once in a severely abusive situation. I went through phases where I was angry. I lost a lot of things both material and internal. In the end, I'm discovering how to empathize directly with the person who harmed me. Their actions were wrong and should not be tolerated, but they were also sourced from their internal suffering. We can all say we empathize with our enemies, but this person put me through the same experiences they went through as a young child. Now I get the opportunity to end the cycle. I got to receive their hurt and with scars deep inside I had the opportunity to end the hurt. It is sad but beautiful and I could not have fully understood what experiencing the evils of the world felt like otherwise. Now healing can begin and protection of others now that I know the signs.
exactly someone gets it. If Gods will is perfect and someone doesn't follow/surrender to it depending on selfishness and own will it will be logical less than perfect because Gods nature is absolute perfect or it wouldnt be God in the first place
7:42 I would like to argue that God would let us go through bad things like that, because he's made us strong enough and won't let us face any adversity too bad for us to not handle through him.
It isn't his fault we suffered. We suffered because it's people's choice to let us suffer.God doesn't force us what to do,it was our ego that made us suffer, don't be blinded by society's idea of God
Why does God allow evil? Ask yourselves, Why did God create The tree of knowledge of good and evil in the garden of Eden? Perhaps it has something to do with free will. If he created man without the option of evil then how could mankind make a choice to follow God? Choose God over what? What other option could there be other than evil? Free will is only possible with the knowledge of good and evil. God gave a commandment to not eat of the fruit of that tree. This was the test. Mankind failed the test and chose evil over good. This is why there is evil in the world.
Majority of these smart kids challenging Cliff with questions ignores the important point here. God loves them me and you. Everyone! Glory to Jesus Christ!
Christ also says "Death is s blessing to my saints" please look it up for tye context. But as horrific as it is to us observe a child die be WE loose but their life with Christ in eternity has just begun.
This is the best example of how you can simulate a debate. Logic has left the building. „we are born in an unfair world” ? What, and this is it ? you just say that, and audience accept it? And why you need God, if there is such a crazy wild unjust world ?
Jerod Durnal There are two things you need to do... The first thing is repent and not only repent, but turn from your sins... The second is put your trust in Jesus...instead of trusting your own goodness to take you to Heaven, transfer that trust into Jesus... put Him on and trust in Him like you trust in a parachute... The Bible says "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. " - Romans 9:10
Paulie is correct. Look up Cliffe’s church and call him. I am sure they will get back to you and help. He makes So many videos over so many years that they don’t follow in comments.
i know this is incredibly late, but may i offer a different perspective. yes, repentance and faith are parts of salvation, most all christian agree on that point. however, there is more to the story. on the day of pentecost, in the book of Acts, chapter 2. god has poured out his own spirit that he had promised, the comforter to the disciples. and after that, lots of people came to see what was going on, who were jews. and peter preached to them. and once they were convicted that they had killed the messiah, they were really distraught. and they said, “what should we do?” in other words, after they realized that they killed god in the flesh, they were probably really scared. and they wanted to “get right with God.” get saved. and peter gave them a very easy answer. Repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and receive the Holy Ghost. all other means of being saved line up with that. that day was the birth of the church, and all these letters were written to churches who understood this salvation message. a good book for further study is “The New Birth” by David K Bernard. contact me with questions!
It is very simple - God permits evil so we can have the unforgettable experience of sin. Think of a father and a child, and a hot stove. If the father wants to teach the child the concept of heat, and why not to touch the stove, how should he go about it? Should the father tell him not to touch the hot stove? This is what we call instruction. Should the father himself touch the hot stove? This is observation. Neither of these are best, because the child will not understand the true pain that he will feel if he touches the stove. The ONLY way for the child to know EXACTLY why not to touch the stove, is if he is allowed to touch the stove and does so. It is the same with evil and sin. In God's kingdom, everyone will be made perfect (Yes, everyone! See 1 Corinthians 15:22 and 1 John 2:2). Now if they had this UNFORGETTABLE experience with pain, grief, loss, and death, do you think they will want to go back to sin again? Never! Never never never. Unfortunately, there will be a small amount of people who will not accept God, sin, and go into the second death. Permanent destruction.
No one knows why God allows for certain types of evil - only God can answer that. On the flip side, the fact that real evil does exist is actually proof of an objective good - and the fact that objective good exist is proof that God does exist. Evil is not a thing that stands on its own, but rather the lack of another thing (good). For example, shadows doesn't exist on its own, its only the lack of sun light. Sun can exist without shadows, but shadows can't exist without the sun. The same with evil, evil cannot exist without an objective standard of good, hence proving the existence of a God. But why God allows for certain types of evil to occur (like rape, hunger, cancer, etc.) that is a long philosophical discussion.
***** Hi Mike, don't you think that mankind could have evolved their morality over a very long period ,we arose from an early form of man which realised the potential of working together as a group, there were great benefits to be had from collective hunting for example ( I am going back maybe 100,000 years or more now to early cavemen). We are social creatures who essentially work better in groups, over time, we have honed our skills and developed our morality for the good of the group, even to the point whereby we care for those who are ill or sick. We see similar behaviour in other animals. That's how I see it anyhoo.
bonnie43uk If you truly take that stance that our morality evolved, then you can't truly say what Hitler did was objectively wrong? right? If mankind just evolved and happen to choose the best outcome of morality for the benefit of mankind... and someone in the group (Hitler) wants to go against the norm and kill people for his own beliefs, how then is that objectively morally wrong? Its not by your worldview. But the fact remains that everyone, every human (unless you're a psychopath) knows in their heart that killing people simply for being of different race/color is objectively wrong. Hence being proof that objective moral values do exist. This is one example. Other examples are killing loved ones for fun, killing babies for sport, rape, etc. Everyone one knows these are objectively wrong. Where does this objective moral standard come from? I think you know.
bonnie43uk You deem homosexuality perfectly acceptable? sure...but do you think its perfectly normal for a man to have sex with another man?... serious question. Not whether you can tolerate or accept it, but do you feel in your heart that it is humanly natural for a man to have sex with another man?
Fine, we fundamentally disagree on that issue. Regarding your point about objective morals being objective because its what we come to know. Wrong, you're touching on moral epistemology (how we come to know what is right or wrong), I'm speaking on moral ontology (what is the basis for something being good or evil?). Just because you believe homosexuality is natural, doesn't mean its objectively natural. Just because we know Hitler was wrong, doesn't mean it was objectively wrong. It was objectively morally wrong because of a standard that was set within all human beings. We know it it. If I had time and cared enough, I'd continue my discussion with you on the homosexual topic and argue that you truly know its wrong, you just have come to accept it. Regarding your point about whether or not God was right/wrong about commanding people to be killed, slaughtered, etc. Obviously if God is "real" and is the creator all life/humans/universe, he obviously have a reason for what he did. Also, if you take that portion of the bible to be true (do you?) then you must take the reason for Jesus existence as true (do you?) - I doubt. You can't argue Leviticus and then deny the New Testament. You have to accept it all. Which is it?
***** Hi Mike, as far as I can ascertain there is very little historical evidence for Moses being a real character, there is zero evidence that he led the Israelites into Egypt for 40 years. Certainly if he did exist. I do not believe he interacted with God ( I don't believe God exists). There may well have been some charismatic leader of that name, but certainly I don't believe he had any supernatural dealings with God. Of course, if I read Christian or Islamic literature they will say he existed. There are probably tiny nuggets of truth here and there regarding certain battles that did occur, but overall, I think he's more legend and myth than real, or if real, then history has turned him into something he wasn't. I regard Jesus in the same vein, I don't believe he existed, certainly not in the guise of The son of God, who came down to earth, born of a virgin, performing lots of miracles, dying on the cross, then coming back to life after 3 days and rising into heaven. If you take away the Gospel accounts, there is practically nothing written about this man from non biblical sources around the time. I think we've spoken about this before Mike. You are free to believe it, but I remain very sceptical. I do understand that to say Jesus is a myth is very much going against the grain, but I have yet to see any convincing evidence of his existence. The Gospels are written in the form of a story more than a historical account, and they don't seem to match up, whilst other parts look as if they've been copied word for word from eachother.. I think Luke and Matthew are good examples of where they have both copied from Mark and then embellished the story further. I'm certainly no biblical expert, but it's fascinating for me to read about the gospels. ****************************************** Regarding homosexuality, have you ever thought how you'd react if any of your own children turned out gay?, I'm sure you'd still love them, but do you think you would try and dissuade them from being gay? Or would you just accept it?. I don't think people choose to be gay, some people are just born that way. Far better to accept them for who they are then to try and tell them their behaviour is sinful and against Gods wishes.. filling them with guilt and doubt about their own sexuality. As I say, this goes back to our morality evolving, society is dictating what we deem as moral, these things don't happen overnight, they are discussed, lobbied, and a gradual change occurs. This also doesn't mean that other sexual activities like paedophilia will become moral as others have suggested, society dictates that we protect children from such sexual activity, I cannot envisage a time when such an activity would ever become moral. Homosexuality isn't a slippery slope towards depravity. Obviously you may disagree, but that's fine, all discussion is good. Life isn't perfect, it's constant "work in progress".
Gotta love this guy. Very likable. Asks very thoughtful questions. You can see, in the audience of presumably primarily Christian kids, puzzled looks as though they had not thought of some of these issues. Glad this is online.

That doesn’t mean everyone is saved (universalism), but the sin debt has been paid for by Christ for everyone (John 19:30) on the Cross.

@@JoeMama-sd2kl
No it isn't correct.
@@mackdmara can you elaborate on that more?
@@JoeMama-sd2kl
1) I don't know the outcome by the presets.
*What situation are you specifically asking about?*
If it was just this Philosophical moral question, since you gave a nebulous set of criteria, those answers should be right.
This was a fantastic discussion between two people who actually want truth

God has a beautiful plan for us but because of sin People suffer

7:42 I would like to argue that God would let us go through bad things like that, because he's made us strong enough and won't let us face any adversity too bad for us to not handle through him.
It isn't his fault we suffered. We suffered because it's people's choice to let us suffer.God doesn't force us what to do,it was our ego that made us suffer, don't be blinded by society's idea of God
I pray for this young man. I see open honest reflection. I hope he has found Christ.
This is why there is evil in the world.

i know this is incredibly late, but may i offer a different perspective. yes, repentance and faith are parts of salvation, most all christian agree on that point. however, there is more to the story. on the day of pentecost, in the book of Acts, chapter 2. god has poured out his own spirit that he had promised, the comforter to the disciples. and after that, lots of people came to see what was going on, who were jews. and peter preached to them. and once they were convicted that they had killed the messiah, they were really distraught. and they said, “what should we do?” in other words, after they realized that they killed god in the flesh, they were probably really scared. and they wanted to “get right with God.” get saved. and peter gave them a very easy answer.
Love this kid. Hope he is still thinking.
God bless you Cliffe. And thankyou

Regarding homosexuality, have you ever thought how you'd react if any of your own children turned out gay?, I'm sure you'd still love them, but do you think you would try and dissuade them from being gay?
Dreadlocks has NO debating foundation. Cliffe helps this guy out so well
Praise the Lord
Dread head has a great voice for a new character on the Simpsons. He would make a fortune! Seriously though, this guy is a searcher and asks some really good questions!
Communal judgement brings about accountability especially if the community, as a whole, knows right and wrong and the laws of God.
God is not fair. Nowhere in the bible does it say He is fair.
God is just. Big difference.
A Whether Moments Poet Natascha Kampusch agrees. What happened to her was just.
+A Whether Moments Poet Do you think that God is unfair? Do you think that giving billions of undeserving people all the chances they need for eternal life unfair? Is justice not fair? Is righteousness not fair? Is mercy, and grace not fair?
+A Whether Moments Poet One can argue that just is correlated to fairness
very naive
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus name.
On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.
My favorite episodes, these guys REALLY break down the complexity of God and act like God is a simpleton. Far from it, haha!
One thing i like about cliffe is he admits when he doesn't know, and he doesn't just make random things up
