How many people know that VW are a major shareholder in JAC and that this bakkie is an early styling buck of the Amarok , with a unwanted by Ford or VW interior concept thrown in by Ford to VW . As the drivetraons fron Ford were not available as VW and Ford were still getting into bed on that area of development , VW threw in their 125 kw Amarok diesel engine and Amarok 8 speed gearbox . JAC refined them for their market , using VW R&D . What we have here is an interesting take on the Ranger/Amarok ... only time will tell how they do .
GREAT REVIEW 👍👌✨ THIS is the new SA bakkie of choice for a FACT 👍👍👍 LOVE IT 👌✨✨✨ (This T9 would be the life style offering & the Mahindra Karoo the agri bakkies of choice - FACT 😉👍😎) The legacy brands start looking like dinosaurs)
Enjoyable review Jacob , first one of yours that I have watched. The Toyota boss said on radio a few years ago to give the Chinese another 10 years , and the products will be on par with the Japannese produsts. Looks like that day is here or very close. With regards to the comparison between bakkies' bumpiness or not , are the tyres pumped to the same spec when you test, as it looked like these were pumped quite hard?
Great presenter energy, but lacking in a review for a bakkie. What about loadbed size and access etc, off-road or at least dirt road performance. And most important bit for Chinese bakkies, the price and a price comparison. Lots of alluding to it, but no mention of it.
The design outside in some points it reminds me the previous Ford Ranger. About the interior, the infotainment display and middle vents it also reminds the Ford Ranger
One more thing bro, let's just help you with your terminology. The current VW Amaford please. It is not a Volkswagen at all. Just a stuck -on badge. We say bring back the previously propper VW based AmaTrok, still being built in Argentina with a facelift. Speaking of experience. Been under the new Amaford too.... oy boet, they're going to break them in Botswana! Thanks for a great report JACob 😊
Somebody once said, the minute you say but after a mouthful that deletes the mouthfull😂 Am sorry am old school, I would buy the bakkies from manufactures that were there during my primary school days, not these newcomers😅
Be careful of Chinese brands. I bought a certain Chinese brand and had a serious accident. The safety features did not operate i.e. seat belt collapse and airbags shredding on application etc. This was a product the press raved about.
Why do you downplay having to push buttons twice to work?...... The stuff that is supposed to sell the Chinese stuff is the tech...... And if it's faulty and glitchy, then why are you actually buying it.??...... Sorry, still not sold.
It is concerning but atleast he mentioned it at all. I’m surprised he didn’t mention that it’s got a Cummins diesel engine, borg Warner transfer and 4x4 system. He did mention the ZF box. Also didn’t mention that it’s running gear runs on Bosch control systems. It’s got good bones masked with cheap tech.
Thats the thing with the Chinese offerings. They have worked out a formula which is eventually is going to pay off once they sort out a few aftersales issue. Brand snobs will continue being snobs, you can never change that. But the bean counters and man maths will end up deciding the market..the commercial vehicle sector has has already reflected this, the bottom line is the most important to them. Buyers in RSA still have access to finance facilities which are not available across the river so they have always run with pre owned equipment. Now the chinese have brought brand new vehicles, heavy, light and yellow machines the game has changed! The dont suffer aftersales support because of the dozens and dozens of independent dealers stocking all the parts!
Jacob does mention it, 8speed ZF. If it is the same as in the previous AmaTrok, it is bulletproof. Question is, IS it the same!. See my comments eslewhere....
This thing is south of ugly.... And if understood it being based on the new Amaford and Ranger, I wonder... However you refer to a 8speed ZF.... If it is the same as the previous Amarok range gearbox, well then I'll swallow my remarks as that gearbox and the previous 6speed ZF (available till 2021 Amatroks) is bullet proof. I might just go and have a look. On what motor is the engine based or is it stock Chinese?
First off great show. Here we go again another Chinese vehicle which by the way if you not aware is a company that have ties to VW so this helps them when coming into markets like South Africa which is a great thing because these companies make products accessible to people that otherwise would not afford an overpriced Japanese,European or american brand. And yes the purests will say that its not as great and they don't know its reliability. JAC vehicles are sold in over 100 countries around the world and been around since the 1960's. So i say to those image conscious South Africans who put themselves in huge debt to be one up on their neighbours having their OVERPRICED Japanese bakkie ( that never goes off-road) in their driveway to give these new brands a chance. Many Chinese vehicle manufacturers have been around since before you millennials and Gen Z's were born. I honestly think those who complain are perhaps upset because they now are not the only "BREEKERS" in the neighborhood with a bakkie. There are new kids on the block and its only going to increase so be open minded take one for a test drive and you might be surprised. If nothing else you'll have more $$$ in your wallet come the end of the month since they are so competitively priced.
Until it brakes down then you will wait months for parts. Do a review after 100000km and try to sell it then not even the dealer where you bought it will buy it back.
Agreed, they need to learn fro. Topgear. You can't just replace the main attraction. There are many other SA youtube car reviews on the same cars, what set this apart from those was the south African clarkson 😂
@josh3221ify then the channel/tv series suffers...whether it's a family crisis, health issues etc. We not questioning the reason for his absence, we questioning the absence. This is the biggest car youtube channel for a reason
the Chinese need to bring more of there smaller cars, hatchbacks and things with their prices they would sell very well to the younger market.
Every mouth I check out car magazines to see if the Chinese have created a hot hatch😭😢that thing would sell very well in RSA!
I have the T8. Talking from experience, this is a proper bakkie mate.
The selling point of this vehicle is the price point
I have this car, same, same colour. Very light on fuel and the take-off from robbots impressive. Drive to perfection!

You coming proper Jacob!
Props to you brother! 👏👏👏👏
Good job Jacob, love the energy, enthusiasm and humor...
These vehicles still need to prove themselves as far as reliability ,spares availability, and manufacturing warranties back up is concerned.
Great review, Great looking bakkie!.. Some serious (price) competition for the bigger brands.
such a good presenter, full of energy !
Jacob 🙌🏽 nice review
great review. Can you guys also review the new Foton bakkie please
Thats the best looking pick-up in southern Africa period!
😂
Do you smoke your coffee beans on the morning?
The p series interior is so good it is even used to describe this bakkie's interior
GREAT REVIEW 👍👌✨
THIS is the new SA bakkie of choice for a FACT 👍👍👍
LOVE IT 👌✨✨✨
(This T9 would be the life style offering & the Mahindra Karoo the agri bakkies of choice - FACT 😉👍😎)
The legacy brands start looking like dinosaurs)

A drag race against this and the p series wil be next level
Another great review, thanks Jacob…

Who was the sick puppy who decided to use the words "Jac" & "Off" in the title? 🤣
It is true though. It is a good way to start...
Bro got 1000 people 😂 10:30
JAC-off sounds about right…

😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 perfect title!
I like your energy bro... Great review indeed
Nice review Jacob. Great work
Great presenter energy, but lacking in a review for a bakkie. What about loadbed size and access etc, off-road or at least dirt road performance. And most important bit for Chinese bakkies, the price and a price comparison. Lots of alluding to it, but no mention of it.
Excellent review! Honest!
the title of this video is hilarious!🤣
I like this reviewer, more reviews please
Nice review, I'm sold
Seems you have it in for Toyota.. I would like to see depreciation on the JAC and if they have parts and body parts in case of repairs..
Great Review - captured all the points that a customer look at
Mate, this is a great review. 😂
Sho Grootman, lekker review
The design outside in some points it reminds me the previous Ford Ranger. About the interior, the infotainment display and middle vents it also reminds the Ford Ranger
Great revivew bro
Wonder, the build quality will it stand the test of time?
I wonder if my fishing rods will fit in the back
Nobody caught the thumbnail caption 😅

Infotainment system should have been Matt black non reflective.
its time to do a battle of the b-tier @Carscoza
JAC t9 vs P Series VS LDV VS Tunland

what chinese brand was this?
I like the new presenter.....
WELL NICE REVIEW SIRE, IS THAT A WOLFSBURG EDITION TATTOO ON YOUR ARM? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why do you downplay having to push buttons twice to work?...... The stuff that is supposed to sell the Chinese stuff is the tech...... And if it's faulty and glitchy, then why are you actually buying it.??...... Sorry, still not sold.
Also picked that up, that's no good on a new car
It is concerning but atleast he mentioned it at all. I’m surprised he didn’t mention that it’s got a Cummins diesel engine, borg Warner transfer and 4x4 system. He did mention the ZF box. Jy ry seker 'n toy vd outa😅😅😅😅
Nice video, but it seems you have something against the hilux.
lol...my boy dropping that Chinese talk
It’s actually an attractive looking car, when one gets used to the in-your-face grill.
Did I miss the pricing part of it?
Starts from R550k
I can easily compare it with Ford ranger XLT 2.0L single turbo spec at 125kW and 420 N.m and priced at R600k?
Please review the 4×4 on some light off-road is it capable
Where is Ciro?
Where is Ciro de Siena?
Can we hsve offroad mud
After so long and we get this review now? 🤔 Iwohldnt be surprised if we get the GWM P500 review in 2026
Price VS Quality
I'll be in the market for a double cab next year. But I'll opt for a demo model from the established brands first before considering one of these.
Great car just gets let down by exterior looks
Interesting choice of words there on the thumbnail 😂
Sho Jacob!
Yeh, I said it.... Better than a Hilux 😅😅😅
but now my question is how is the gear box on this one
Jacob does mention it, 8speed ZF. If it is the same as in the previous AmaTrok, it is bulletproof. Question is, IS it the same!. See my comments eslewhere....
Not being picky, but the thumbnail starts with big bold letters "JAC off..." who let that get through editorial?!?
This thing is south of ugly....
And if understood it being based on the new Amaford and Ranger, I wonder...

Amarok engine as well

Wait is it a 4x4 or 4x2
10:33 bra you caught me😂
The problem is the looks nice in the front, shit in the back
Ruff n Tuff?, must be from The Bluff 😂
Hideous beast. That grill is something else.
Jac off to a good start!?!? 😂😂😂
LOL, Bane 😆
Until it brakes down then you will wait months for parts. Do a review after 100000km and try to sell it then not even the dealer where you bought it will buy it back.
They call Hilux overrated amd outdated yet they use the name for their TH-cam titles and compare it to tinpot car brands 😂😂
For me Hilux is the King of Bakkies
That front grill is nasty
Its a 7th gen Hilux body
Where is Ciro
I thought Jac was an American brand, I wonder which one am I confusing it with
GMC
MAC
I think you confusing it with GMC even the GMC are written in red letters like the JAC
@mjngp yeah I think thats the case
No it doesn't make sense and get a lawyer to read the "fine" print for you !!
Ford Ranger
We need Ciro. Jacob isn't a true petrol head. He's a super nice guy but you can tell petrol isn't in his veins
Agreed, they need to learn fro. Topgear. You can't just replace the main attraction. There are many other SA youtube car reviews on the same cars, what set this apart from those was the south African clarkson 😂
@@biafo4541 what if the "main attraction" has other personal things to do?
What’s the basis of your conclusion, How do you separate non petrol heads from petrol heads?
@josh3221ify then the channel/tv series suffers...whether it's a family crisis, health issues etc. We not questioning the reason for his absence, we questioning the absence.
This is the biggest car youtube channel for a reason
@desmondhakurekwi5872 very good question and it will take a while to unpack, actually will make a good topic for a cars co za podcast.
You're right 😂 it's a car.. I'll stick to the Toyota Hilux that you so dislike..
But a "breeker" needs a Hilux 🤣
Bro that is not a bakki 😂. It's truck it has Cummins engine
Lol Jack off... that brand will never hear the end of this, thanks to you guys...
Chicken clips find your nearest optometrist and get your eyes checked😂🎉
Its not well insulated wheels noise bumpy. Its no no
One smiling bakkie
Don't like how it looks

Say what you want. That bakkie is POES ugly
So annoying the new reviews, unsubscribed

The Toyota acolyte has left the chat...
