  • The LDV T60 is a fresh off-the-boat offering to the ever-growing bakkie segment. This new double-cab bakkie is positioned as a competitor to the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max big three, but also hopes to steals sales away from the Volkswagen Amarok, Mitsubishi Triton, Nissan Navara and compatriots from GWM, JAC, Foton etc.
    With strong on-paper engine figures and a generous list of standard equipment, the new LDV T60 looks promising. In this video review, Jacob Moshokoa gets behind the wheel of this new double-cab bakkie and evaluates the on-road drive, how it handles on dirt, and tests out the space and features.

    We need to remembered the rules of the economy. The fewer the supply, the higher the price. In time these vans will be many, the price will be cheaper that time. It is not really competing with any bakkie. It is offering an alternative. We may regret it after 10 years when we realize that this van survived beyond the established brands. Rivals are tipping the scales at 1 million rands already. China is too far. It was not cheap to get this beauty here. Well done, incredible review.

    • @yissibiiyte
      @yissibiiyte 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@hopewellnzuza it earned it's title decades ago when it was actually well-priced for what it was. Nowadays it's lightyears behind the competition, yet is more expensive than them. Get into a Ranger after being in a Hilux and you feel like you've changed centuries; and they are pretty much equally priced. You cannot argue that the Hilux isn't EXTREMELY overpriced for what it is. Toyota sells on nothing but brand loyalty and the knowledge that it's customers will never even consider the competition. Toyota knows it can rob people blind and get away with it. Just look at a "new" (40-year old) LC 70-series that's more cheaply built than a Renault Kwid, yet costs R1mill.

    • @hopewellnzuza
      @hopewellnzuza 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@yissibiiyteI totally get you and to be fair the comparison is different as Hilux is still on an old generation platform compared to a ranger new generation there will be differences favoring the Ranger that I can agree on, but Hilux has never been quick to please with technology because technology moves on quick and interests fades fast with techy stuff in cars. Strong reliability, value holding and piece of mind is the trump card.
      Land cruiser is a different target market, one where all the fancy gismos isn't so much a priority, rarely you'll find Cruisers kept standard without purpose built customizations on them because reliability becomes top priority when you start injecting money customizing a Land Cruiser for individuals different needs.

    • @yissibiiyte
      @yissibiiyte 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@hopewellnzuza I'm not disagreeing that outdated cars like the Land Cruiser or even Hilux have their purpose. I'm just saying that they should not be the same price as brand new, tech-laden bakkies while being so much worse than them in most metrics. An outdated bakkie should be much cheaper than a new one, just look at the Mahindra Pik-up. It is old and outdated, but I have no problems with it because it is less than half the price of other bakkies. A 70-series is even more outdated than the Mahindra, yet costs 3× the price.

    It's funny watching this from the UK. Mitsubishi has completely pulled out of the market here, Isuzu's are a far rarer site on the roads, the Hilux is a lot less common place and the Ranger is WAY more popular. I've only seen one of these and it was electric (don't think they sell the diesel one here, especially given how much it has fallen out of favour ). Overall, vans here WAY outsell Bakkies.

    On the vehicle: Overpriced. On the presenter : This isn't TikTok. Pls bring back the old presenters. This used to be a good car review channel. Lately we have a bunch of influencers styled reviewers that offer little technical or automotive input. You are dropping the ball.

    No, just no. Send it back to China. I'm convinced that the okes who determined the pricing on the Ford Puma were fired, and LDV decided to hire them because the pricing on this is severely off 😂

      people are attracted to features and tech that's what makes these Chinese brands attractive for all that and the price, whereas the tried and tested brands charge an arm and a leg for the same features

    This car market as been taken over by preowned (we buy cars) and also the chinese, therefore it is an unfair competition to all the other brands and thus this is difficult to all the consumers. Expensive and reputable brands are remaining expensive and only the rich can afford
