Just recently got back into wearing "colognes" after probably 35 years (I'm 59.) I'm gravitating towards the more woody, leather, spicy "mature" scents (because it's "winter " here in SoCal.) Several that I've come to really like are: Tom Ford Oud Wood EdT, Ombre Leather EdP/Parfum & Noir Extreme EdP; the entire Burberry Hero line & Burberry London EdT; Creed Green Irish Tweed EdP, Silver Mountain Water EdP & especially Bois Du Portugal EdP (Sinatra's go-to.) Thanks for a great video. They are very helpful and greatly appreciated.
I love Naxos and Creed Aventus. I’d also recommend Dior Homme 2020, Dior Sauvage Élixir, Hermès H24 EDP, Terre De Hermès Eau Givre, and Initio Blessed Baraka.
Xerjoff - Renaissance Xerjoff- Uden Roja Parfums - Oceania Maison Francis Kurkdjion - Gentle Fluidity Silver Parfums De Marly - Galloway Aletier Cologne - Rose Cuiree (fem opening but amazing scent once in dry down) Ormonde Jayne - Ormonde Man (but can be worn all year imo)

Great video John! Prada L’Homme and Dylan Blue are great! Mancera Lemon Line, PDM Sedley, and John Varvatos Artisan Pure are a few of my spring/summer favorites
I've been wearing Chanel Allure Sport for years as a signature fragrance. I've consistently gotten compliments on this one. Women seem to just love it; one time dancing with a gal she told me she could just eat me up because I smelled so good. I'd say it's worth a try for a future list. Thanks for the great content!
You are spot on with Sauvage, Naxos, Black Orchid and Aventus. The ladies also like YSL - La Nuit de L'Homme, Viktor Rolf - Spice Bomb, Sospiro - Basso, and S-Boy - Draco. Great video, John. Thanks.
Always appreciate your thoughts and insight. A few to try...Bvlgari Tygar, Fragrance du Bois Oud Bleu Intense, and Xerjoff Uden. Some of my favorite scents. Be safe
Eau Sauvage by Dior is a classic bright fresh men's fragrance. Worn by Steve McQueen. Cool in a bottle. Not beast mode scent. Great day or night. Polo shirt or suit. Class. Moderate price. Worth it
Bvulgari Aqua (dark blue bottle) and Coach Black - relatively (at least to Tom Ford) inexpensive - and the scent usually lasts all day. I get compliments on both all the time.
Good choices on the colognes. I know what you mean when it comes to Aventus, it has lost it's staying power over the last few years. This is always a tough subject because there are sooo many fantastic colognes out there that smell amazing! The only suggestion I would put out there is replace the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue With the Light Blue 'Intense'. Lasts a long time and has a more fresh ocean breeze kind of scent for warmer weather. Also, as for some people, Sauvage seems overpowering, replace with Prada Luna Rossa Carbon as it smells virtually identical but not so peppery. Another good video as always, John!
Some great choices, I'd like to suggest an affordable niche brand that probably has been mentioned, Mancera. I own Cedrat Boise, which is probably their most popular, but an underrated gem is Aoud Violet, this one is addictive and smooth and most importantly affordable if purchased from Fragrance discounters.
I"ll give an additional shout for Montblanc Explorer; my wife loves it on me. Know you had a couple of blues on your list, but how about Bleu de Chanel - my favorite summer go-to?
Hopefully I wont offend anybody with my 2 picks. I have been using Cremo Bourbon And Oak and also Spice And Black Vanilla. Granted, probabaly not nearly as sophistocated as the ones mentioned here but they are the first colognes I have ever used and so far I have been very happy with them. There were one or 2 mentioned in the video I may give a try in the future.
I love Bourbon & Oak for a cheapie. Stumbled across it as a solid scent before I picked up a bottle of the EDT. For me, it’s definitely a cool weather scent, however.

Hey John - great video on fragrances. I have quite a few of the ones you list (including Legend Spirit based on your recommendation.) You may want to sample Light Blue intense. I think it’s even better than the original and as you mention, there are also a few more flankers in the line now. BTW, I’m not sure how popular your fragrance videos are but have you ever considered a comparison of subscribers’ fragrances; similar to what you do on subscribers’ seasonal outfits? It seems like subscriber clothes videos are very popular and maybe that would translate over to fragrances? Just a thought. Oh, Creed Aventus has gone through a few formulation changes over the years and that may be the cause of why your latest batch doesn’t perform the same.
the aventus needs to macerate meaning it needs to age a bit. after you get some air in the bottle, after a couple weeks the strength and scent will increase. if your first bottle is very old, then it will be a bit stronger but even the newer ones are still good; just give it a little time.
Aventus is not just reformulated, it's more like a Porsche turned into a VW Polo (i.e. especially performance). I remember 1 spray of Aventus overpowering 4 sprays of One Million. 🤔
Aventus is notorious for batch variations. You we’re lucky with the first one. It’s also will know in the fragrance community that current batches of Aventus have gotten quite watered down. Two excellent alternatives are mont blank explorer like you mentioned, and even better, Armaf club de nuit intense man limited edition edp. Hi John, I have a question? do you have a favorite fragrance for women? please recommend something special. I would love to know your types of fragrances for women.😉Greetings from Poland.
Fun video John! I love fragrances and always interested in trying new ones. Dolce & Gabbana Light Bleu Eau Intense is my signature fragrance, and I always wondered how it differed from the mens version. You got me intersted in Naxos and that may become my fall/winner favorite. It's just Sexy, luxurious & Delicious! Legend! ;)
I actually think Versace EROS smells nicer than Versace Dylan Blue. Of course we're selling individuals and everyone has their own opinion. 😀 Also, maybe it's just me but I think Gucci Guilty pour Homme eau de toilette is a very nice Spring & Summer fragrance. To me it has a lingering scent of Fresh Cut grass, which IMO gives a nice "active" outdoor, summer like vibe. But again, maybe that's just me.😂
I wear Dylan blue and get constant compliments. I have smelled Versace Eros multiple times and Bleu de Chanel and Imo it is too floral and feminine to my nose. I don't understand why it's so popular with men.
If you wear black orchid parfum during the day, in summer, in southern Italy, someone would probably beat you bad. Now my question is, do we have just different weather or it is also a matter of culture?
The Aventus you are referring to is probably 2019-2021 and you are correct the longevity of those years is horrible the new F batches for 2023 are supposed to be better I'm actually picking up one this Friday. Looking at your bottle in the video if you bought it from Nordstrom they will probably exchange it for you. Thats what I'm doing I already talked to the Creed rep there and told her my issue and she said bring it in and we'll take care of it.
I got a little sample from Neiman Marcus earlier this year and finally got around to wearing it about a week ago. I only sprayed it on my hand, but it smelled great. It lasted all day, and when I woke up the next morning, I could still smell it. Then I took a shower, and I could still smell it, though that did make it more faint. I still smelled it later that night before I went to bed, but I couldn't really detect it the next morning. But that's like 40 hours. I just ordered a bottle that is being delivered today, and I can't wait to wear it. If it isn't one of the F batches, I'm taking it back.
@@JohnJimmyJoe Thats good to know because I'm getting mine Friday and best believe it better be an F batch also a quick way to tell is it will have a metal cap and the creed across the front will not be black it will be clear. Hopefully they are getting it back to somewhat it used to be.

Creed aventus, tons of compliments. Wear it most of the time. Also would like to add I’ve been wearing it since it came out . It’s always been pretty similar to me, I’ve called creed after hearing about batch variations, they said it has to do with the naturals in it. You can smell it and not like it, maybe the way it last on a persons skin but to see people bash it and say it’s not good over the price is dumb. You don’t like the price of anything, don’t buy it. I’ve worn all different brands of cologne since I was 16/17, I have a bunch now, I’ve tried to go away from creed since I always use to switch it up, nothing gets the compliments for me like aventus, I smell it on my shirt when I take it off. Girls have told me they have smelled their pillow or a shirt I left over to remind them. Nothing out there is going to last you 48 hours off of 1 spray and have projection and cost $25, I’ve tried a few clones, don’t smell the same to me. Most of the time you get what you pay for. Only other one I love wearing in the fall/winter is oud for greatness, that stuff is awesome. Lately since the weather got warmer it’s aventus & Dior savage on days im not out much. Basic stuff but it smells great and you can get a huge bottle on sale for like $150, cant beat that.

Thanks Antonio!
Prada Loan or L 'Homme?
Aventus is hand made, so it can be different between bottles.
Nice list
These sound awesome 👌
Suggest some non alcoholic perfumes
What about eros flame? I am 40 😊
I would add the following:
Blu de Chanel Parfum
Amouage Beach Hut and Reflection Man
M Micallef Desirtoxic
Memo Russian Leather
Arabian Oud Sultani
Terre d Hermes Parfum
Marc Antoine Barrois Ganymede
Etat Libre de Orange Tom of Finland
You know your frags 👏🏻👌🏻
Naxos is more of a fall/winter fragrance.
Really? It’s so citrusy and fresh on my nose. It totally feels like a spring and summer fragrance. I appreciate the comment though. Thanks!
Synthetic fragrances ( chemical soup) have certain compounds known as environmental endocrine disruptors, thereby disrupting normal hormone production. Exposure to phthalates could cause decreased male fertility, reproductive abnormalities, and decreased production of testosterone in males. " - So no thank you 😉 Yet great video as usually 🙏
Creed is known for reformulations and getting weaker. I know you want the real deal, but there are some incredible clones that perform way better and some even prefer the clones over Aventis.
Xerjoff Naxos is the best ❤️💪
So good!
Well I’m ten years too early, but Black Orchid Parfum and African Leather are in my top 5-10
56 yo here 🙋🏻♂️My favorites are Terre d'Hermes, Eau Sauvage, and Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisee. You have some nice choices, but some v mass popular so too familiar and may remind people of other wearers of same.
Big mistake to wear fragrances that smell too "youthful"🤮
Thanks for posting 👍🏼
Great fragrances
Thank you!
There's a lot of Sauvage hate out there. But, my lady loves the fragrance---so I really couldn't care less about those opinions.
John var xx black
german - TABAC white that meens classic, olso one of RAMMSTEIN parfum named KOKAINE Seemann
New omega?
Well spotted!
Aventus reformulations have made it not worth the money. There are plenty of clone fragrances (better than Montblanc) that make Aventus obsolete.
Unfortunately I 1) live in Japan and the Japanese are not keen on fragrances/smelly things and 2) I have no sense of smell so I always smell the same.
Need to get off my A$$ 😅buy some of these! Thanks John, Sir!!
You’re welcome!
If u know it wont perform (aventus) why recommend?!! Just saying
I don't think Prada L'homme is for men of 40 years old i feel it's more for guys who are on 25's to 30's but that's just my humble opinion.
Terre d' Hermes Eau Givrée
I’ve been using the wrong fragrance!
If a company could make a cologne that smelled like money it would be a hit since that's what women love
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Creed keep reformulating Aventus, it’s nothing like it used to be, certainly not worth the hefty price, there are way better fragrances out there for a fraction of the cost.
Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche, Tom For Noir Intense and Parfum De Marly Layton exclusif, thank me later gentlemen
