As an American it makes me want to come over and get hurt just to get compassion from the medical community. When i saw the nurse actually wipe sweat from the man's head was touching. I had brain surgery and had blood on my face and neck for 4 days until a friend's wife wiped it off for me.
I'm so sorry that happened to you. I totally understand! In 2011 I had a fusion in my back. The doctor cut the sack that holds your spinal fluid and I contracted MRSA from a nurse who didn't wash her hands after just leaving the room of a MRSA patient. I came in by ambulance because I couldn't move. I've seen people treat dogs better than I was treated. That's when I lost a lot of respect for nurses
My niece is American, from California, married a Aussie and is a nurse in Brisbane, absolutely loves it and says Australians are the most compationate loving caring people and loves her job. Im scare to even stub my toe in California!
they generally are, to fellow white aussies and others… wait until you see how cops and other people in the legal system and in general sometimes, still treat Aboriginals…
32:00 don't feel bad. My partner didn't believe me when I told him my lungs collapsed. Now I'm booked in for surgery he believes me but I've told him 'next time you're injured, I want to see blood' 😂
I feel for you I have collapsed lungs 12 times and had surgery on the. 4 times I’ve had chest drains in every time it’s happened to me it’s the worst pain ever I’ll give birth any day than my lungs go but they do it every year without fail now for 11 years and my husband didn’t believe me one time and wen I got to hospital my left lung had fully collapsed they said I was so lucky to be alive I really feel for you ❤
@@W1433LA the surgery itself doesn't bother me much. I've have the chest drain and this time it was 2 catheters. The epidural they gave me was worse than the surgery.
I had a serious car accident and they gave me ketamine to out a drain tube in my ribs. It’s was the worst feeling ever. No one even told me to think nice thoughts . Mind you they were trying to save my life, so fair enough.
I like watching this show, because last year, I fell from a tall ladder at home, and sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury, brain bleeding, broken skull and ribs and punctured lung, and medical staff at 3 hospitals saved my life, and rehabilitated me. Please consider wearing a bicycle helmet if you get on a ladder! You may feel stupid while wearing it, but you'll know it's a smart decision, as you protect your brain, a pretty important organ, and possibly your life.
That’s bloody awful your so lucky to be here and I’m glad you are thank goodness I hope your pain free and healthy now and happy and have family to care for you ❤

I can understand when the dr was talking about living in a small town and not being able to have good medical care. Although I grew up in the city, I don’t take for granted living near hospitals where I can see my neurologist, endocrinologist, urology and others who are part of my care team.
Wen I went in hospital once I was seeing the nurse 1st as that’s what they do here in uk and I was very poorly with collapsed lungs and the nurse was talking to me and a new nurse came in and she said we have a attempted suicide in and she said to me I don’t know why we bother they should be left to die with the drug addicts and alcoholics I couldn’t believe what I was hearing and I said I don’t what you to treat me at all and I demanded a new nurse and I got one it bothers me to this day so sad that I’m the uk they just don’t care at all odd one does but the rest I can tell you then do not my mums a nurse here and she says wen anything happens to me please don’t take me to that hospital and I dam sure won’t at all
It's wonderful to see a fully staffed hospital! Here in the US, nurses are routinely asked to care for far more patients than is safe, or even legal. Not after some mass injury situation, either; routinely, day after day. Healthcare for profit is CREATING the burnout that's driving people out of a profession they love.
Now I understand stand why my husband doesn’t wash the pots lol it’s too dangerous for him and there I was complaining about it but now I know why lol haha
I've watched several episodes of this show and I've not seen one gunshot victim. I'm used to watching similar shows based in the US and every other patient has been shot.
(I had to look up droperidol, as I was unfamiliar with its use in geriatric & oncologic use in my nursing career.) I've seen what happens to kids who are given scopolamine for T&As...wild, crying, even parents at the bedside can't get through to them.
Not sure about the style though. I think that's the most important thing here lol. Sorry, my dark humour....gets me through trauma. Having almost died myself (I'm in the UK) and had my life saved by the paramedics, doctors and nurses, I have every respect for them.
Honestly if you live here in Melbourne like I do trust me you’d understand why they triage through a window Melbourne has become more unpredictable these last few years
I would say 90% of ER,s do triage through a window at least at first, mostly due to safety reasons. Triage nurses are specifically trained to look at a patient and assess their signs and symptoms and tell if they are a true emergency or not.
Good on ya Rex. I'd be happy to crash my bike at the age of 82. Just get some support wheels now, and continue on riding. also, 32:06 I'll put some beer in the fridge for you :)
The passenger in the head on collision is probably a childhood abuse survivor, the way his not allowing staff near his pants is a classic sign. Plus the addiction too, addicts don't want to be what they are
I was a paramedic in Victoria for 38 years. I’m very disappointed with the attitude of some of the female paramedics on this show. They clearly are too confident and need to be far more humble

I think our care in most hospitals is terrible here in the USA.. speaking for Calif, more about the money than they do the nurses and the doctors.

Love Australia doctors who are very brilliant

Im not sure why she dressed the wound through the window, they have windows in the local hosptials too but any wounds etc are taken back for assesment

Triage through a window......unbelievable 🤦♂️
I think it's a risk management strategy due to potential violence against staff. A poor indictment on our society

Not every country prosecutes people just for _possessing_ drugs.
