I’ve worked with a lot of famous musicians and I was only 10 years old when Tommy passed but no one has had the profound impact on my life the way he did.

One of the most under-rated guitarists of all-time. The promise of what could have been rivals Hendrix, Kossoff and Rhoads!

+Rick Mayer In the industry he was called the "American Jeff Beck" because he played lots of tricks and flashy, over the top sounds. Also because both he and Beck were/are amazing technically.

Tommy was an aw inspiration to everyone that heard his music. He was one of the great guitarists of all time. From zephyr to James gang to Deep Purple to Cobham to solo albums in less than 7 years. Hendrix and Beck were both into Tommy’s tones. I was shocked that he died over a drug overdose because no one wanted to attract attention to his drug use. Stupid stupid stuff. He should still be alive and writing beautiful music for the world. I was in awe of his musical abilities. I Can't wait to hear you play again on a different planet or plane of existence Mr. Bolin.

What an amazing guitar player and singer he was. Gone to soon! He did so much in so few years, it's a testament to how talented and loved he was. Everyone wanted to work with him. I still listen to lots of Mr Bolin to this day. I wish he was still with us but regardless of that Tommy Bolin is forever...\m/

Heartbreaking to watch another friend's funeral, even all these years later. Phillip Polimeni, another friend that was with Tommy his last night on earth has now joined him as of 2-3-14. We loved playing around the Sioux City area, way back when. I was able to finally leave a guitar pick at Tommy's grave last spring and visit my memories of us all playing music together. RIP Tommy and Phillip. Save me a place in the big jam in the sky............Love you both

A damned shame...so much talent and promise as well as the life of a great person just wasted, and so young. Having been an addict myself, I found the way out, and the way out is always there if the person chooses to find it; you have to want to find it, but if you don't want to, this usually becomes the result. I say again, a damned shame.

Was there in Miami Hotel the night he died, we hung out for 2 days, he drank like crazy,,,,went to a restaurant where he invited about 10 people, all the food came, and he whispered to me "you got any money?" I said what??? I said, your the rock star, you invited us??? He said, my management doesn't give me money, they know I will disappear somewhere, because I am fucked up. He was embarrassed, so instead, he made up a game and made it seem funny, he told everyone to get up and run out of the restaurant, and so we did, all of us....took off, the bill never got paid. He would visit me across the street, the Castaways Hotel, home gig, guitarist, we became friends in 2 short days, very kool guy, what an experience!

Hughes and his wife both attended the funeral, and Bolin and Hughes were very close friends right to the end, so if this "info" you found out was true, then that probably would not have been the case. You don't know what the hell you're talking about.
