There is so much joy in Glenn Hughes, how can you not love the guy? Thank you Glenn for keeping the spirit of Tommy ALIVE. Tommy fans love you for that.
F*ck Hughes, he's more responsible for Tommy's demise than anyone. I can't say that he introduced Tommy to heroin, but he sure did a whole lot of it with him, then stole his girlfriend which broke his heart and he Overdosed shortly after getting a "Dear John" letter from her.
Gettin' Tighter is one of the best Deep Purple songs ever. Tommy had demoed the song prior to the album sessions, and Glenn wrote the lyrics. Glenn's voice went better with Tommy's style in my opinion, very soulful.
I have many fond memories of Me and Tommy when we played together in the 60's in A Patch Of Blue. And also many memories of brothers John and Rick,Barb and Rich. Thank you GOD for that relation me and my family had with them, GOD bless all of you. Thanks!
Friend, you were very lucky to meet a good musician like Bolin in person. They say he was a very kind and nice person. He was certainly unlucky to die so young but he still managed to leave a mark in the history of music.
I was 16 and visiting relatives in Germany in 1976 ...'come taste the band" had just been released and I bought it in Germany on the "Purple Records' German label.......heard Tommy for the first time....GREAT album!.. also I believe this video was recorded in Windsheim.....where I was born! too bad it appears as thought Glenn is having some issues with a sore voice here.....but that's life....
Yesterday I was looking through Pinterest and I was viewing pictures of the John Bonham family at their familial home near Cutnall Green, the Old Hyde Farm, and sitting there with John and his family was a young Glenn Hughes.
Glenn would have been 67 years old at the time of this gig n he can still hit the same notes he could when he started out on his musical career! I always like his story of phoning Deep Purple's Management n saying "That's it! I quit the band" n David Bowie popped his head up from the sofa where he been for a week n said "I don't think so!" N then David talked Glenn out of it! 🤘🏻
I like this musician due to that I am a follower to what Deep Purple are making (Mr-Hughes was a member there many years ago) and also due to his sound approach to the Life.
A huge thank you Glenn. For playing my hero/idol song ON MY BIRTHDAY ! October 25th, 2018. Thank you so much Glenn, Love you. Also thank you dear Tommy, my favoriate guitar player of all time. The nicest guy in the world. Sleep with the Angels Tommy. THANK YOU GLENN HUGHES. your pal, Joey hehe. Love ya.
This is great! Glenn is really expressive on the bass. I'm curious if he was an influence "Cliff Burton" of Metallica fame or vice versa? I noticed in this song that Glenn is singing/hitting low notes much better too.
The best thing that happened to GH is the fact that he was in a drug comma for years and did not play live dates. Do to that he was able to save his voice. So while Ian Gillan and David Coverdale were screaming for years Glenn was resting his voice. That - in my opinion - is why Ian Gillan and David Coverdale have lost some of their vocal range while Glenn Hughes is singing just as good or better then he was back in the 70s. Just my opinion.
Didn't Glenn Hughes over on Tommy Bolin's girlfriend? I forget her name, but supposedly she was the love of Tommy's life. I wonder what happened there? Come Taste The Band!
Karen's last name is spelled Ulibarri. She and Tommy split around May of '76 after approximately 6 years together. Not sure when she hooked up with Glenn but it was probably soon thereafter. Tommy never really got over the breakup. Karen and Glenn were married till around 1988 (if memory serves from his book).
Ultimately Hughes was a disaster for DP and half of Stormbringer is poor due to him. Blackmore was correct to call it shoeshine music. His time with Bolin in DP was wasted on hard drugs and awful live performances. However, there were some highlights, Come Taste the Band and Live in California were great. Getting Tighter on Live in California is a real highlight. This version is also really good.

Glenn's voice is ageless and he can play his ass off, has tons of soul, and seems like one of the nicest guys in the world. I hope he lives forever.

Best track from the best album made by a Purple in their best line-up 💜🙏🤘
I first saw Glen Hughes in the mid-'70s when he was with Trapeze. He's part of Rock's history.

Almost.
and this is a vey good thing to see!
Cant half tell Ian Paice isnt playing the drums on this one. LONG LIVE TOMMY BOLIN!!!
This man knew how to preserve his voice which is really nice to see, so many of the greats from his era no longer have any of their vocal range left
captivated sound from a blast from the past
Absolutely Awesome Glenn
Glenn, You Are The ROCK!!!
Damn, that chill intro leading into Getting Tighter was awesome and Glenn's voice sounds exactly the same as the 70s. Really wanna see him live now.
Saw him with Joe Bonamassa and Jason Bonham in Black Country Communion. Was incredible. His voice is fabulous

Rex Wuppertal?
Tommy "fuck🎸" Bolin
Why is he talking with a German accent? The last time I checked he was born in England 😂
I feel sorry for Glenn, I think he still feels awful about what happened.
F**king cocaine, it clouds the judgement.
@Gary Daniel Tommy was a heroin user, Glenn was using Cocaine.
soren andersen is a good guitarist but I m not sure that he is in his place for covers of Deep Purple
I agree upperly! He doesn't adjust to Deep Purple pattern simply. It's necessary catch up another level of feeling and virtuosism
He, gibt es mehr, du hast doch längert die Kamera hoch gehalten :-), dann bitte auch mehr, danke.

The drummer doesnt get the funk
Play too brutal mindless
Nous voici à la limite de la bouillie sonore.

bad operator
Least you can do Glenn, after cheating on Tommy with Karen.
The drummer have no timing :-( Totally amateur.
Line up- please- Guitare-Drums, keys etc...Are this musicans all a stic? I dont like theese videos ehre no member anounced.
Just a guy recording the concert, whaddaya want from him?
