omg thank you for this gorgeous vid Kim! my boyfriend and i are headed to japan in dec and ive been watching all your videos for ideas on places to visit as we'll be spending a while in tokyo... and this seems like the perfect attraction/escape from the bustling city atmosphere ^^
yep I was worried initially because of the obvious male/female seperation rule in onsens (one of our sole reasons for visiting) and at least this place we can still be together at the foot baths. Are there actual bathing onsens though or just foot baths? Also we are coming from Perth too so I feel like every piece of advice you give is even more relevant somehow !
I've been to that Hot Spring myself. I actually had the foot bath where the tiny fish eat the dead skin off your feet... I also went in the onsen area. It was interesting to do as a foreigner, but I definitely recommend it. Overall it was a lovely time and this video brought back many wonderful memories. :)

If you're a foreigner, you're gonna get stared at, that's just the way it goes. Sometimes it's annoying, but I usually make eye contact and smile and most people get shy and look away lol. Just know they aren't staring at you with any negative feeling, they are just curious. It helps if you go in a group of friends and try not to notice! Just have fun and don't worry about feeling awkward!

Hi Kim!! Do you know if this hot springs allows tattoos? I have a small one that's usually hidden, but obviously if I choose to bathe I will be naked, and I know that tattoos are still usually frowned upon. :(
I don't think it does, most public ones don't allow tattoos :( you can try covering it up if it's small with makeup? Otherwise you can just do the foot baths in this Onsen (I did that because I didn't have time to go to the actual hot springs). Otherwise you can book a place that has you own private Onsen or allows you to book an Onsen for a certain amount of time?

Oh if it's small enough to be covered with a bandaid I'd do that! Maybe I'll use concealer on it just in case then put a bandaid on top
