    "Refs should have a higher tolerance" "If its not a yellow to a player..."
    Seriously? Can we get some refs in here. You can literally google the laws of the game and cite law 12 to see why both the players were sent off. Abuse of refs is a huge problem in the game. Both those reds were correct and the Union should get a fine for mass confrontation.

      There was no chest bump if you watch closely, just a brush of the hand...the chest bump is just the MLS talking point to make an excuse for a consistently poorly performing referee. No one seems to remember that Medunjanin had a Stoica red card reversed on an opponent last year after correcting Stoica on the field. Or that the VAR referee has never worked as a 1st official. MLS will never be a top their league without proper officiating and that is proven week to week.

    With Bedoya's second yellow, what is not seen on the broadcast but live was the mob dissent to the ref after the penalty call lead by Bedoya, Medunjanin & Trusty along with some others. They surrounded the ref pushing him around with their chests not allowing him to move the game forward. He had to get real aggressive with them to move them out of the penalty area. That's when Bedoya decided push things further and step back into the area and it cost him. The ref at that point was pushed to his limit and had to respond.

      actually they're right. soccer is a contact sport. thats why the rule states (as they said) if u make contact w the ball before making contact w a man, it isnt a foul. the game allows for lots of contact. there are just rules around it. what u say the defender shudda done is near impossible to pull off in the heat of a game. what the defender did do was follow through w his intention to win the ball and not play the man. which he did. which is the most u can ask of a defender in that position. and the ref blew the call. refs are just getting worse and worse it seems.

      Miggy Santos: You are incorrect. If the contact with the player is incidental to contact with the ball, and not excessive, then the referee MAY conclude it does not justify a foul. Not must. But that contact was not incidental. The ONLY way he wins that ball is by going through Josef's legs. That means whether he got the ball 1st or 2nd is irrelevant, he could not have avoided foul contact with the player, therefore it's a PK.

    Bedoya must have been banking on the fact that the ref wouldn't essentially send him off for not listening and delaying the game longer when everyone was already warned. Players and commentators/analysts need to stop thinking that 1st and 2nd yellows should have different thresholds to be given. If he was just given a first yellow for this, they would just say yea he delayed and can be given a yellow. Since it was his 2nd yellow they start to question and scrutinize everything about it. Maybe they should question Bedoya's intelligence to do this to his team in this situation. Stop trying to give players more room to show dissent without punishment when dissent is rampant throughout all leagues.

  • @mata91yt
    @mata91yt 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This has to be the worst episode I've seen. Why does youtube keep recommending me these and why don't I learn to watch these muted...
    1st: Just cause you touch the ball doesn't mean you can trip the opposing player who actually didn't really lose the possession of the ball. That should be a penalty every time.
    2nd: Could've been a good second yellow, could've been a light one. The point is you don't know what was said nor do you show the whole thing.
    3rd: "Ref's should take." BS. So fucking much BS. If the guy is still in your face after you show the first yellow, don't bother with the second. Go for straight red - that's complitely fine by the laws of the game.
    4th: Handball. Are you sure one of you wasn't supposed to say that the hand was in natural position or the ball came so quickly that he didn't have time to react? Cause now you actually agreed and made a decission. GG, one out of ten isn't that bad...
    5th: Why "agree to disagree" without any other reasoning than "I feel like it because I played as defender once"? If the defender times it right the guy isn't running into his shoulder, he should be running to his back. Now the defender clearly instigates the contact to a players chest.
    6th: Where can I get myself a pair of those X-ray glasses? Or you've got that CSI photo enhancing software? Cause to me there's like one white pixel I could imagine being the ball visible between the arm and the body. There's no way to tell if it hits the arm.
    7th: How come there isn't a great camera angle to a potential foul that happens in the box without really any players blocking any angles? What's the point in the VAR again... Not you're problem, and points to you for actually mentioning this.
    8th: Clear pen for you, for me and for the ref. Wow.
    9th: It isn't a foul because the player isn't in possession anymore?! That doesn't mean it's not a foul. That means the defender is coming in late which just makes it more of a foul. The weird accent you have makes it sound like you say "agree to disgree" instead of "Oh right, you've got a point. I was wrong." Which is what I assume you ment to say given that there's no way in hell that's not a foul.
    10th: VAR? No? Clear error on a potential pk decision. I tought these were supposed to be reviewable. But hey, at least you understand why the ref didn't blow his whistle. Care to enlighten us rest?
    11th: If only there was somekind of a magic wand that you could use to kinda draw a line matching the place of the defender and attacker... But I guess "I feel like it could've been" is good too.

    warshaw you are a joke. you make these reviews so hard to watch, your blatant bias (i know you admin that you have one) and lack of willingness to learn is one of the main reasons why people prefer simon. this is your job, do some research on the laws and update your views accordingly.
    for instance:
    1) atl game: where in the LOTG does it say if you get some of the ball first there is no foul??? just because you get the ball does not mean that a foul was not committed.
    2) defender bias: he isnt stepping toward the ball he is stepping in front of/into the path of the player while the ball is moving away. the ball is 2-3 yards away when contact is made this is an obstruction/charge.
    3) bedoya second yellow: dissent is by word OR ACTION. if he informed both teams to stay outside the the area and D, and he blatantly walked in and bent to fix his guards, then that is a form of dissent.
    then you pull a 180 and nail it when you say things like:
    "it sounds like you're telling me it matters that he misses, even though he clearly got fouled... just because he whiffs the ball doesn't mean you can come in and slide tackle him"
    and i honestly think that this is the part that bugs me the most, when you have bits of spot on recognition mixed in to a landslide of nonsense.

    • @prioreofsion
      @prioreofsion 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the defender steps into the path of the attacker, the contact is made with the shoulder into the attackers chest, perpendicular to the path of the ball. if the defender was moving with the ball or at more of an diagonal toward the path of the ball and did that then i could see your point, however he didnt. just look at the defender's head when he goes into that challenge, he has no idea where the ball is, he is just trying to stop the progress of the attacker, he is not making a play on the ball.
      based on your and bobby's view impeding would be the call.
      law 12 - impeding:
      "Impeding the progress of an opponent means moving into the opponent’s path to obstruct, block, slow down or force a change of direction when the ball is not within playing distance of either player.
      All players have a right to their position on the field of play; being in the way of an opponent is not the same as moving into the way of an opponent.
      A player may shield the ball by taking a position between an opponent and the ball if the ball is within playing distance and the opponent is not held off with the arms or body. If the ball is within playing distance, the player may be fairly charged by an opponent."

A foul is a foul by referees discretion and his interpretation of the rules. That's his job. Not to selectively decide which fouls are "fair" enough to give and wont change the outcome of the game

    Okay, first of all; Please remove that music in the background and just talk nicely and naturally! This isn't Fox News, have more class!!!
    Second, about the second yellow and therefore red card.
    As you guys say, if it's for bad language, then no problem, the player should behave.
    But if it's because he is inside of the distance, then it's still a no-brainer for me. The player stands outside the distance when the ball is placed at the spot, but THEN he moves inside the distance with the ONLY purpose to delay the PK. That HAS to be a yellow card for delaying the restart of the game, and eny referee that does not do it, is mishandling the guidelines for the "referee in play" manual guided by FIFA, and are therefore wrong!
    No doubt. The player should behave as a PROFESSIONAL adult, not a kindergarden child who can't get his favorite toy.....

    I have no issue with the penalty call. But, trying to explain away the 2nd red card is ridiculous. It does not matter that players around the world encroach into the penalty arc to "delay the kick". When people wonder why fans are fed up with some of the ridiculous crap soccer players pull, this is a classic example. FIFA rules exist for a reason. The fact that referee's fail to enforce the laws of the game has allowed a sort of "mind creep of ignorance" to set in. Yellow card was indicated and given. The fact that Bedoya, already on notice with an earlier yellow card, failed to understand his predictament and placed himself in a bad position. Let's quit trying to "nuance" or "justify" calls. Violate the law, pay the price.

    Bobby doesn't know what he is talking about. If you a doing any form of dissent (yelling at the ref) you get a yellow. If you continue you could possibly get a 2nd yellow. Good call by the ref. In the galaxy-timber game, the defender does not play the ball.

  • @NoahEliasFritz
    @NoahEliasFritz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    First of, thats a penalty but for sure. You can't just tap the ball and smack down your opponent and get away with it. That's a penalty. The guy walking into the penalty box can be awarded yellow for timeplay, all in the referees freedom of ruling this game. All correct. The one complaining completly lost his mind and can be happy about not receiving a direct red card.

  • @GeniusLad32
    @GeniusLad32 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    God I hate this narrative American commentators seem to have where they think a second yellow should have different rules to a first. If it's a yellow card infringement, it should be given as such. He's inside the D which is a yellow card offence. The fact he's on a yellow is completely irrelevant.
    Also, piss off. Yelling at a referee should be a straight red.

    He ref in the Philly Atlanta game did brilliant. I don't really watch mls but i know the rules just so you know. The tackle was dangerous and not done correctly, correct decision penalty. Then the reds, he had all right to give the yellow and red for the time wasting player because he has been told, didn't move and then recivied punishment. He was trying to make Martinez second guesz where to go. The reaction I personally was surprised it wasn't a straight red, that is not how you should react as a professional.

  • @zachariahsaldivar3007
    @zachariahsaldivar3007 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Where did they get Andrew and Bobby? They don't know how to properly apply the rules. Whether or not Bedoya's second yellow was for delaying the restart or not. He still cannot stand inside the arc to make Martínez wait to take the penalty. By rule he delayed the restart of the game by going into the arc, so he deserved a yellow card for it. Just cause it happens all over the world and refs don't call it does not make it ok to do.

    • @Raider025
      @Raider025 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, the Law regarding sending off offenses (Law 12) states that "us[ing] Offensive, Insulting, or Abusive language or gestures" is sufficient to be sent off with a straight red. Now, the level determines what could be construed as Offensive, Insulting, or Abusive. In matches like MLS, probably not alot can be said or done (gestures) that would merit a sending, aside from remarks regarding things like race, gender, etc.
