There is a problem that is often abused.
People say that bullies are like this because they have problems of their own. This is often followed by a call to have sympathy or understanding for the bullies.
At this point, attempts are made to make the perpetrator into the victim and the victim into the perpetrator. If you want to do the real victims a favor, don't fall for it.
When someone mentally wreaks havoc on another person for months or years, "but he called me a jerk" is no justification.
Defend the victims and try to defuse the situation. The perpetrator will always try to take advantage of the victim's weakened state and force them to take the blame.

forgiveness does not equal a removal of consequences for bullying. bullying has its consequences. forgive them in your own journey, but be sure to hold their feet to the fire for what they have done.

So true. My adult brother used me as a whipping boy. If he was upset at anyone else on earth, he would come to my house and call me vile names and ridicule my looks. My mother let him get away with horrid behavior all his life. I never called him out because it would have meant losing important people in my life.

yeh it just gets stealthier as you get older. I started a job and there was a woman who made a song and dance about her voluntary work for an anti-bullying campaign. Same woman blanked me. She didn't do anything that would have sounded too bad in isolation if I'd confronted her. But if I ever said anything in a group setting, she either ignored me completely or reacted AS THOUGH I'd said something 1) obvious, 2) ridiculous 3) offensive. It made me wither and withdraw from the entire group. But her self-perception is that she's LOVELY

I (female) was bullied by a female colleage years ago. She broke me in 2-3 months, I was alone in a foreign country and nobody was here to help me. No friends, no boss, not even my boyfried at the time. It took me years to become "normal" again and to regain my social skills completely, I even had to leave the region as her gossip not only damaged me, but also my career. I'm not a hateful person but I can't avoid to wish her all pain and suffering possible, I just can't forgive her. I never knew you could become to fragile, tiny and defenceless, it's a horrible feeling

I’m 72 years old. I’m living in an apartment building of 19 apartments. I am shocked at the behaviors in this building. 85% of them are bullies. We are all over 62 years old and over. For some time now I actually allowed these people here bully me up until the past couple weeks. I’ve lived here 4 years now and I finally got a grip on myself. It’s ALL on them!!! It’s not me. I knew this yet since I am not in the working world my mindset is no longer as big as it used to be. I owned my own business. I had self esteem. I dealt with people most of my life. Thanks to videos like yours I have pulled myself up again. I’m not better than them, I have a different mindset than them. I’m okay and they are okay. I know my boundaries. I’m not going to confront them. If the ‘beatings’ continue I will tell one lady that she has been harassing me enough. And she has. It is so juvenile. I’ve actually written everything down how she has treated me, I will let her know this, I’m ready for it if need be. Thanks for the refresher course 😊

I work with young people (between 18 and 24) who experience problems with substance abuse and - more often than not - psychological problems like anxiety and depression. Many of them have been bullied as a kid at school, so that's by other kids. I understand what you're saying here, it is still a bit shocking to find out that adults still do this. The impact of being bullied is really devestating for a lot of people. I am happy to hear you did not feel affected by it.

I disagree.Bullies don’t deserve sympathy at all. They don’t know what sympathy is in the first place.I would not justify their wrong behaviors at all specially if they’re an adult, there’s no excuse to be a bully. We all gone through different challenges in life and some made the right choices but we don’t bully others ,we know how it feels like being mistreated but these bullies don’t have feelings at all.I don’t care what they’re gone through ….their bad behaviors still an unjustifiable!

That's all fine and dandy to "understand," why bullies, bully others. However, their behavior if not put in check immediately gets worse over time. Ignoring and being "understanding," does no one any good including the bully themselves. Bullying has always happened and will continue to happen throughout the world. Therefore , checking a bully is essential when dealing with one. Meaning, if you have issues with physical or verbal confrontation then you need to ask your self why and get rid of your "fears." Or else you give the bully a non-spoken agreement to continue due to your "fears," silence and tolerance of said bullies behavior. Checking a bully is what people like that understand. A show of potential force and repercussion for their behavior is what they respect. Not kindness, silence, or worse tolerance. To a bully this is a sign of weakness.

Bullying is - as far as I know - a worldwide issue. It is committed by people who were being bullied by family, guardians, teachers, bosses and so on and they find and use scapegoats for the pressure they feel and usually they choose their victims among "weaker", more vulnerable and less protected ones like children, older people, women, employees and so on. It is actually about mental health. Even parents don't realize that they are breaking down their child's personality, because they think they are only preparing their child for life. They couldn't be more wrong."Living your life to the fullest" is not what most children experience or are being taught; in fact it is the exact opposite.

Thank you. My bullies include my mother, my father, ( when he was alive), and currently my ex-employer. I can tell they have all been bullied, they have really evil souls. It shows. The abuse they put me through made me feel like I had no value to this earth. I even attempted to take my life. It took me a long time to find my self-worth, thanks to co-workers and friends who saw the light in me - I have regained my soul back. It's sad, because each of them has held immense power in my community. They all have used control over my finances and attempted to slander my name by spreading false rumors. They've told anyone who listens that I am "mentally ill", but it's not true. I struggle with depression, anxiety and ADHD... but I am not ill.
It's difficult when you are the young person in the power-dynamic, as they often tell me "I have no clue what I'm doing". It hurts not having any parents, but I've found that you can create your own family within your friends and mentors in other avenues. Bullies stink! I'm glad people are talking about it, because they still exist. But we can defeat them, with true community, power & love. Keep spreading true love and support each other through this battle called life. We all struggle, but if we can try to help others through the struggle - we all win. #LoveWillPrevail #LoveWins

I come from an unusual background circumstance and I can tell you that although especially in America (US) we don’t like to think in terms of class and yet we are the most class oriented society on earth, bullying usually doesn’t exist or doesn’t survive in a smaller and educated strata. All countries should copy this pattern and apply it to the rest. A bully doesn’t have a chance in those societies. This applied in a bigger society by the institutions would help. Making laws and procedures to tackle bullying at work, apartment buildings, partisan groups, hate groups developing now will not have a chance.
We need to consider the new digital technologies are making domestic violence and bullying have an even bigger imbalance of power tilted even more heavily toward the bully or group bullying.

They might have gone through stressful situations themselves but not everyone become a bully. I have gone through very traumatic snd stressful situations in my life and yet I have not become a bully. Becoming a bully is a choice and yes, as you say, they have a diminished sense of self. I find this is strictly related to THEIR upbringing. Upbringing is most everything. It depends how one grew up and how one was raised. People who have a lack in integrity and lived in a environment lacking certain principles and inner motivation as opposed to an outward collective motivation do the worse.

It is just a Lie for themselves. Making troubles to other peoples make them feel better about themselves. If they just have courage to face and solve their own problems head on. they don't have to torture others.

That's rather easy on the internet. But in real life, bullies come in flocks. They rarely attack you alone. They know that you are defenseless and revel in it. They want you to react to them, to provoke you in any way, and they will make sure that other people see you while they're cutting you open. And whatever you do, whether you react or not, you have lost: any reaction from your part is interpreted by them as weakness and laughed at.
Bullies are people who were abused, yes, but they chose to take it on others, therefore they're bad people. Your video makes it sound like that attitude is human and therefore excusable. But bullies have often pushed people to suicide, particularly among young people.

Hi Jay, love your channel and your perspective on things. Bullying is bad, but look at the political atmosphere in America, right now. If certain people are not persecuting someone, they are not doing anything, at all. Political and religious leaders are the biggest bullies around. They give these horrible people permission to be so bad. That is the saddest part, to me. They have normalized this behavior.
