  • We decided to return to the Black and White Volcanoes of the Harrat Khaybar Lava Fields between Medina and Al Ula! Hundreds of volcanoes dor the area, and it's a beautiful place to camp and explore.
One of Saudi Arabia's only conical volcanoes erupted leaving a beautiful black lava field running right up to the base of another white volcano. We spent two days camping and offroading through the lava fields where we hiked volcanoes and enjoyed an epic adventure with our friends!

We’re Eric and Ashley, an American couple who has spent the last 6 years living and working in Saudi Arabia. We’ve traveled a TON in the time we’ve been here, and we've decided to finally do some real exploring in the country we’re fortunate enough to call home for now.
As Saudi Arabia is finally opening up for tourism, we’re taking the chance to experience both the famous and off-the-beaten path the Kingdom has to offer. Our goal is to show you the uniqueness of the country and inspire you to set out on your own adventures - whether in remote corners of the world or just down the road from your home.

الاجواء الان في المملكة العربية السعودية حارة. اذهب فقط الى المرتفعات مثل ابها والنماص والباحة والطائف فالجوء فيها حلوه 🙂♥️🇸🇦

I like the video and I really enjoy it so much
As for the camels that ran away?
I think camels broke the law and did not expect people to see it 🤣🤣

Good video as always. What do you mean by the cave is closed?
The trail to the rim looks much damaged, Does that FJ has rear diff locks. It's scary spot with momentum one is likely to slide from the trail.

At the entrance of the cave there were big signs that said "do not enter the cave." There was also a large cart set up with several video cameras and what looked to be some sort of satellite transmission system. We chose to obey the signs and not go into the cave. We'll have to go back again sometime!

and we do have diff locks, but with the route we chose was really washed out and we decided not to risk it :)

@@EricAndAsh Okay, thanks for the clarification. Seems it was closed temporarily for some TV show or something like that.

@@EricAndAsh IMO, that's the easiest way to go up.

Hi, thanks for the video 👍🏻 Did you go recently? How was the weather / climate? Other than windy, was it cooler being high up? I’m wondering whether a trip during summer is possible? Thanks

We've been a bit behind on making videos, and we actually visited back in March. It was already pretty warm. The weather forecast today shows a high of 43C with it still 32C at midnight 😬 Add in the lava rocks and that's a little warm for my taste 🤣 Maybe we're wimps, but we tend to do most of our desert and volcano trips around here mid-September to mid-March and then spend the summers on the beaches/diving or traveling abroad to avoid the heat all together 😂

During the spring the evenings are definitely cooler, but looking at the forecasts, I'm not so sure that's true during the summer
