How to reach Umm Jirsan Cave in Harrat Khaybar Lava Fields of Saudi كهوف أم جرسان, حَرَّة خَيْبَر

In this episode, we explore the famous Umm Jirsan Cave in the Harrat Khaybar Lava Fields. It is 130 km North of Medina in Saudi Arabia. This cave is actually a lava tube which extends over 1.4 kilometers in length, making it the longest cave in the Arabian Peninsula.
This cave has many wonders over 7000 years old. In 2021, researchers found bones of striped hyena, horse, wild ass and domesticated donkey, as well as wild and domesticated camel, ibex, goat, and cattle. They also found human skulls, likely stolen from nearby graves in prehistory. The discovery is part of a series of discoveries made by the Heritage Commission recently, confirming that the Arabian Peninsula was home to humans since thousands of years ago, besides the many domesticated and wild animals living and breeding in it throughout the years. Visiting this place was an amazing experience.

نستكشف في هذه الحلقة كهف أم جرسان الشهير في حقول حارة خيبر للحمم البركانية. تبعد 130 كم شمال المدينة المنورة في المملكة العربية السعودية. هذا الكهف هو في الواقع أنبوب حمم يمتد بطول 1.4 كيلومتر ، مما يجعله أطول كهف في شبه الجزيرة العربية.
يحتوي هذا الكهف على العديد من العجائب التي يزيد عمرها عن 7000 عام. في عام 2021 ، وجد الباحثون عظام ضبع مخطط ، وحصان ، وحمار بري ، وحمير مستأنس ، بالإضافة إلى الإبل البرية والمستأنسة ، والوعل ، والماعز ، والماشية. وعثروا أيضًا على جماجم بشرية ، يُرجح أنها سُرقت من قبور قريبة في عصور ما قبل التاريخ. ويأتي هذا الاكتشاف ضمن سلسلة الاكتشافات التي قامت بها هيئة التراث مؤخرًا ، والتي تؤكد أن شبه الجزيرة العربية كانت موطنًا للإنسان منذ آلاف السنين ، إلى جانب العديد من الحيوانات الأليفة والبرية التي تعيش وتتكاثر على مر السنين. كانت تجربة رائعة.

Thanks! If you visit make sure to take all safety precautions. One thing to include would be to have some dust masks, as the cave is quite dusty. There are also some spiders, so make sure to wear some good boots, as well as long jeans or pants.
