Hi, I love your videos!! Great house btw!! LOVING IT!!! What happens to all the assigned furniture that came with the house? Do you return it to the university? Where do they go?
The furniture belongs to the university, so if we replace any of the furniture they've provided, they'll come pick it up and store it or re-use it in another home. Once its out of the house we can't get it back, but it's really nice to be able to make it our own with furniture that fits our needs and style.
We've really loved our time at KAUST - we've been here almost 9 years! It's a really unique place to live that has opened up doors for us both professionally and personally. Moving abroad away from family is a challenge, and not right for everyone, but we've found it to be a great experience.
Hi!! I’m from Spain and my husband is from Puerto Rico, we are moving to Kaust next week! Can you give us some tips for our first days there??? Thanks!
Welcome! We recommend working hard to settle into your home and getting to know as much about the community as possible. The community life page is a pretty good start, as are your colleagues and potentially your neighbors. The weather right now is fantastic, so you can walk or ride a bike to see much of what KAUST has in store for you. There are also regular buses into Jeddah that you can take to the malls or to other stores you might need things from to settle (Saco is great for home appliances, cleaning stuff, etc.). Safe travels!

We were fortunate to find jobs in fields we'd both been working in for quite a while. We weren't specifically looking to come to Saudi Arabia, but when the opportunity presented itself we took it.
Hey, thanks for posting wonderful videos. Just a quick question about housing, does it work based on size of the family or designation of the employee?
It's a little of both. There are a few different types of housing for students, and postdocs, staff/faculty. Then ,in most of those categories there are a few different size houses - from shared accommodation for single students, 1 or two bedroom townhomes for married couples or small families, and all the way to large 4 bedroom houses for bigger families. If you're in the onboarding process at KAUST, they can help you understand more specifically about what you're eligible for.
We've really only made videos of our homes that we've lived in at KAUST, and I don't know that we'd be comfortable asking to film someone else's house 😀 I think there are a few videos on youtube though from others who might have done what you're asking for.

"nanny's room" such a heartwarming word to describe it. I can't believe in this day and age architects still treat service people like an object that only needs a 2*1.5m room. Truly disappointing! Thank you for choosing your words. The after math is beautiful btw. 😁✨
There are some amazing people in our community who have come from abroad (just like many of us) to work with families, and we're really grateful for them. While we don't have anyone who lives and works with us full-time, we've been fortunate to get to know many of these wonderful people who make up such an important part of our community. As the other person said, becoming a Saudi citizen isn't something that's easy, and it's not something we're trying to do. I don't believe that expats can buy houses either, so we're renting.
It's alomst impossible to obtain saudi citizenship because we r arab origin and we care a lot about our lineage. There is special program for permanent residency such as the Green Card that enables u to buy a property, establish ur own business and u have facilities and treatment exactly like a saudi citizen.

@@thesemantisist your HR or hiring partner is going to be the best person to confirm these questions, but the housing fee is taken out of your monthly salary. And schooling is a benefit that KAUST provides for the eligible children of its faculty, staff, and postgraduate students. You can see more at tks.kaust.edu.sa/why-tks-school-you

Beautiful. Who works and what's the job, is this A typical of an expat house, or is it the norm?
We both work for KAUST - a university here in Saudi - and most KAUST employees live on campus like we do. We're not so sure about outside of KAUST, but this is one of several neighborhoods in our community. Each are a bit different, but nice.
Hi i'm wondering about prices for either the 3 or 4 bedroom properties as I am moving soon and cannot find any information regarding pricing, much love and god bless.
We're in a unique situation because the housing is rented directly through the university where we work, and it's only available to university employees. We're not sure what the local rate for rents (or purchasing) would be outside of the university.
Wow amazing
Thanks a lot 😊
Cool place , and awesome videos
Thanks for watching!
Lovely house ❤
Thank you! 😊
Nice one day I will have a house there
Wow that’s neat
Thanks! We love our house!
I love saudi arabia.. i would like to stay and work there. But i didnt have a chance to do so.. any suggestions for me?
Look for jobs in your field. We were fortunate that KAUST allows us both to continue working in our careers. Good luck on your search!
Hi! I'm looking at a job at Kaust and wondered if it's worth the move from the UK, would you recommend?
Looks like a typical house in Miami - Dade County but located in the Saudi Arabia.
Amazing refurnishing
Thanks! We really love the way we've settled into our house.
I'm an expert on Building renovation that's what inspired me
How much do you pay for rent?
Very nice house! Congrats!👏🏻🙏🏻🙌
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 It is free for expats.
Wonderful, how much the house price could be?

did you buy it when it was still preselling or already ready for occupation? how much is the price of that property?
We rent our house. It's on the campus of the university where we work.

What is the cost of this compound
how were you guys able to get the oppertunity to live and relocate to saudi arabia? i am thinking about relocating but am finding it impossible so far
We were fortunate to find jobs in fields we'd both been working in for quite a while. We weren't specifically looking to come to Saudi Arabia, but when the opportunity presented itself we took it.
Wow 😍😍😍
Hey, thanks for posting wonderful videos. Just a quick question about housing, does it work based on size of the family or designation of the employee?
It's a little of both. There are a few different types of housing for students, and postdocs, staff/faculty. Then ,in most of those categories there are a few different size houses - from shared accommodation for single students, 1 or two bedroom townhomes for married couples or small families, and all the way to large 4 bedroom houses for bigger families. If you're in the onboarding process at KAUST, they can help you understand more specifically about what you're eligible for.
If possible plz make vlog of postdoc housing as well as primary secondary school in campus
We've really only made videos of our homes that we've lived in at KAUST, and I don't know that we'd be comfortable asking to film someone else's house 😀 I think there are a few videos on youtube though from others who might have done what you're asking for.
Were you living with Visa or as a permanent resident? What are the regulations about outsiders buying house in Saudi Arabia?
We have residency through our jobs here. As for buying a house - we're really not sure. We're in a unique situation because the housing is rented directly through the university where we work, and it's only available to university employees. We're not sure what the local rate for rents (or purchasing) would be outside of the university.
Very nice
Thanks! We really love our house!
Amazing ❤🇸🇦
Thanks! We love our home!
hello, what did this costs, this town house?
Hello, is it possible for a uss citizen to buy a house on installment for a period of 3 to 5 years and get residency after that?

I love u and home
"nanny's room" such a heartwarming word to describe it. I can't believe in this day and age architects still treat service people like an object that only needs a 2*1.5m room. Truly disappointing! Thank you for choosing your words.
The after math is beautiful btw. 😁✨
There are some amazing people in our community who have come from abroad (just like many of us) to work with families, and we're really grateful for them. While we don't have anyone who lives and works with us full-time, we've been fortunate to get to know many of these wonderful people who make up such an important part of our community.
And thanks, we've loved our house as we've settled into it 😄 It's truly "home" now!
Will you please send a apartment site for 1 bed room in Jeddah/Riyadh please 🙏

omg soooo gorgeous
Aw, thanks! We really love our place!
what's the rent of the house? and what's the cost if we were to purchase it?
Our situation is a little unique - we live at KAUST (our employer), and the houses on-campus are only available to rent (not for sale) for people who work or study here. If you're employed at KAUST they'll let you know your housing options (there are a couple neighborhoods) and what rent costs. Rent can vary a bit as it's maxed out at a percentage of your salary to make sure it stays at a reasonable rate if someone doesn't make as much. Students also have different housing that is free if shared with other students or is highly subsidized if they bring a family.
Is it difficult to get residence? You only get it with work permit? How to apply? Thanks 😊
Free housing is included in your contract as a student, staff get housing but have to pay rent
i will forever grateful to you,you changed my entire life and i will continue to preach on your behalf for the whole world to hear you saved me from huge financial debt with just a small investment, thank you Laurie wood.
Wow. i'm a bit perplexed seeing her been mentioned here also Didn't know she has been good to so many people too this is wonderful,i'm in my fifth trade with her and it has been super.
Someone mentioned that trading cryptocurrencies is much more beneficial than holding them long-term, but I don't know who to seek advice from or who could trade for me
how do y'all even make so much from crypto trading?
Market behavior can be complex and unpredictable. Mind if I ask you to recommend this particular advisor to whom you have used their services?
I'm thrilled at the prospect of learning from a coach like Laurie
Why do you have a beautiful home and I live in an apartment for 14 years🗿
Hi Ash and Eric ! Thank you so much for this video. My family and I enjoyed watching your channel.
My family and I are moving there in December to Jeddah and we really wanted to ship some of our stuff but didn’t know how. You mentioned you ship your bed from the state. Could you please share with us the company you ship with ? Thank you in advance
Thanks for reaching out - our shipment was arranged by KAUST when we moved over 8 years ago, so unfortunately we don't remember all the details about how it was managed. Sorry!
@@EricAndAsh thank you so much 😊
I am a American student (major of science) and really looking forward to move to Saudi Arabia. Could I email you with a few questions?
If you're looking to study at KAUST, the best way to learn more is to go to their student admissions page - admissions.kaust.edu.sa
Can you make a student housing video?

@@EricAndAsh thanks for the reply and wow I am also looking to work for a university in the ksa as a lecturer or a researcher, can you do a video of how did you secure your university job in KSA please, thanks
@@rayhanabdullahz7093 I'm afraid our story isn't that exciting, and it has been almost 10 years now. I'd encourage you to look at universities and research centers to which your background aligns, and see if they have openings or seek to build connections with people in your field. When we moved to Saudi Arabia, we weren't specifically looking to move here as opposed to somewhere else... It was just a normal job search and it happened that this was the best place for us to further our careers.
I’m planning to relocate to Riyadh. My Question is related to Pet Dogs? Do tenants allow keeping dogs inside apartment? Or is it hard to find a place ?
Because I had this good perception when I moved to Turkiye that they love animals but it’s been 3 years I’m struggling to find an apartment which allow dog.
Can you please help me regarding this? So I make my relocation decision accordingly. I donot want to abandon my dog. He’s part of my family.
We were able to bring our dog from the US, however, our situation is a little unique in that our employer is also our landlord :) We didn't have to do any apartment shopping, so I'm not sure what the rules might be where you're looking. I'd start reaching out now to both your employer and apartment complexes, compounds, etc. to see what you can learn. I hope you're able to find something, pets are definitely part of the family!
Is this kind of housing similar for US expats working in the medical field?

Do they let self employed folk live there?
@@shuibabdullah4932 No, everyone who lives on the KAUST compound is either an employee or student at the university or at one of our partner companies on campus.
May I know, is that offered to PhD student too?
Students have different (although still very nice) housing.
How much does it cost typically for a home like this??
We're in a unique situation because the housing is rented directly through the university where we work, and it's only available to university employees. My understanding is that there is a sliding scale for housing rates to make sure no one is paying over a certain % of their salary on housing. If you're looking to work at KAUST the HR and onboarding teams would be able to give you more information about how much it would cost for you, but I think our rent is very reasonable, plus it includes electricity, water, gas, internet, etc. and is fairly well furnished if you choose to keep the furniture they provide. Can anyone can buy house in Saudi arabia?? How much is the price of house ? Can you got nationality as well after buying house in this country!?
Getting nationality in KSA is not easy. Generally your father must be Saudi.

There is special program for permanent residency such as the Green Card that enables u to buy a property, establish ur own business and u have facilities and treatment exactly like a saudi citizen.

:) Nothing. We've just had lots of people ask about living at KAUST, so we thought we'd share what the housing is like here. Not everyone has the chance to come to KAUST before moving here, so it can sometimes be hard to know what you're getting into moving across the world sight-unseen. We found blogs super helpful when we moved here 8 years ago, so we do our best to pass on what we can to other people making up their minds if KAUST is right for them.
