One of the worlds most amazing songs...this group of guys created something incredible. And look at them so many years later. No one makes music like this anymore....
Steve Walsh is one of rock's greatest vocalist but doesn't receive the recognition he deserves. This is one of the great songs from the 70's and imo Kansas' best track. I can't believe that it never became a huge worldwide hit. Many people were introduced to it through Supernaturral, but for me it was the Henry Winkler movie "Heroes" back in 1977. Everyone was leaving, but I sat through the entire credits of the movie to make sure I didn't miss a note on the great cinema soundsystem.
Was lucky to see them so much. One concert was new years eve in the 70's maybe 76,77? On one song while they were playing they just disappeared while playing instantly. Music never stopped and then they were there? Never knew how that was done. Stage lights just dimmed for a few seconds and back on.

This is what happens when you practice your asses off to give your audience what they deserve. A worthy on point performance. VERY IMPRESSIVE! WAY TO GO KANSAS.
That Kansas are not in the rock hall of fame is inexcusable. Their style of prog music occupies a unique niche in a genre populated by some of the greatest bands in music. Great musicians all and perhaps most impressive here is the iconic Steve Walsh, who sounds as good as he did in the mid-70s!
What do you mean underrated? from wikipedia: "The band has produced nine gold albums, three multi-platinum albums (Leftoverture 4×, Point of Know Return 4×, and The Best of Kansas 4×), one other platinum studio album (Monolith), one platinum live double album (Two for the Show), and a million-selling single, "Dust in the Wind". Kansas appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the 1970s and 1980s and played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe and Japan. "Carry On Wayward Son" was the second-most-played track on US classic rock radio in 1995 and No. 1 in 1997" That all sounds pretty well rated to me.
@@harrievanderlubbe2856 Harrie, you are speaking to the choir. Kansas is uniquely wonderful and deserves its place on the summit of prog rock greatness. I am speaking about the far too numerous prog purists who believe that the only good prog band is British. And though most iconic prog rock bands are indeed British-Yes, ELP, Crimson, Floyd, etc., there are bands like Kansas which, as you correctly observed by their commercial success, deserve a place at the table. Check this out as a painful example: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/readers-poll-the-best-prog-rock-bands-of-all-time-17276/10-dream-theater-14591/ One can argue who belongs where on a list but not to place Kansas there is a terrible oversight. Once, I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high
Though my eyes could see, I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think, I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming

My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don't know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say
Carry on, my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more (no!)

(Carry on) nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely Heaven waits for you

Ever? Not sure ... but Phil Ehart is a founding member and has a very distinct style. Very tight.
drummer sucked
@socal rocks What does that even mean?
@socal rocks ... haha, like ALL bands? wow, wake up.
One of the worlds most amazing songs...this group of guys created something incredible. And look at them so many years later. No one makes music like this anymore....
Most sinners lose their vocal range with age...
Kansas:
Edit, Kansas 4:00 :
Steve Walsh is one of rock's greatest vocalist but doesn't receive the recognition he deserves. This is one of the great songs from the 70's and imo Kansas' best track. I can't believe that it never became a huge worldwide hit. Many people were introduced to it through Supernaturral, but for me it was the Henry Winkler movie "Heroes" back in 1977. Everyone was leaving, but I sat through the entire credits of the movie to make sure I didn't miss a note on the great cinema soundsystem.
honestly this song is all i knew kansas for, i never knew they had a bigger song than this (dust in the wind)
Was lucky to see them so much. One concert was new years eve in the 70's maybe 76,77? On one song while they were playing they just disappeared while playing instantly. Music never stopped and then they were there? Never knew how that was done. Stage lights just dimmed for a few seconds and back on.
Ok boomers, thanks for showing millennials what rock and roll really is.
Rock and roll offends them. Good.
@@bigdogpete43 😂😂😂😂 Fist bump my friend!!! I hope that you have a wonderful and blessed day and keep in rocking!!! 🙂🙂 🤘🤘 🐧🐧

You are welcome, i was playing this stuff and getting tons of pussy long before you were even thought of son, ROCK ON .
@@johnking5934 I grew up in the 1970's...I born in 1971. I listened to all this awesome music and I'm thrilled that I did!!! I hope that you have an wonder and blessed day my friend and please stay safe!!! 🙂🙂 🐧🐧
One of the top five rock songs of all time!
The fact they nailed it live in their 70’s with an orchestra is that much better!
This song belongs to the Winchester brothers now.
*holds Sam tightly as he dies for the very first time in Season 2, shakes him and screams with tears dripping down face*
SSSAAAAMMM!!!!
*NOW......*
Steve can still sing & play that Hammond sound!!
3:57 - he's still got it!!! Gives me chills!
There will never be another Kansas. And yes, we're all Dust in the Wind. Just turned 60 and still jamming to Kansas.
Kerry Livgren - 20th Century Mozart.
Sam and Dean brought me here. Thanks fellas.
It's half way through 2019. Music will never, ever be like this again. This is just EPIC!! Sounds as good as it did back in the 70's
Kids these days have pretty much no idea what good music is...
Heartbreaking that we'll only hear this masterpiece one more time on Supernatural :'(
Who is watching at 2021?
2024🎉
2027
À última temporada de sobrenatural me trouxe aqui. CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON 🇧🇷✡
65 Demons gaves thumbs down.
Well.. Not demons.. But severely hearing impaired....
Yeah real demons which will hunt by Sam and Dean Winchester !
Crowley gave a thumbs down because HE never got a theme song! 👿
Hi...
Anyone aged 13-19 know this song? because you’re extremely intelligent if you do
I'm 15 and know it. I love it so much, its my first time watching them play live. I'm a huge metal fan besides this songs anyway. Can't stand modern day music that gets the appreciation (such as rap)
@@anthonyoconnor7107 Nice one man! You are lucky to know this type of music.
Em 2020 ouvindo essa excelente performance do Kansas!!!!
Steve sure sounds good on the vocals, saw the leftoverture tour, reliving my youth in 2022. Kansas still kicks ass.
I know they've probably been doing this Song forever.. But I CANNOT get over how fabulous this sounds !..
After all these years.. Live !.. Note perfect, almost Studio quality..
THE ROAD SO FAR...
saving people, hunting things, the family business..
NOW
The fact that Steve Walsh can still hit those notes at that age is freaking incredible
Humans playing instruments ! No auto tune ! 4 part harmonies ! How very 2009......Damn I miss the old times....
When bands could play any one having a go no 99 percent of talentless and people still buy it what a band talent
2009 and they sounded like when they were 25... Legends
Omg, what a performance! So professional, clean, hitting the right notes, it's amazing! These are what i call real artists. Cannot compare with most of what we have today. So good!
looks like season 15 the final episode ....
They don’t write or perform music like this anymore…I miss it and my youth!❤❤❤
Greetings from Germany to all the Winchesters in the world. RIP Dean and Sam🖤
saudade supernatunal! essa musica é foda de mais.
This is what happens when you practice your asses off to give your audience what they deserve. A worthy on point performance.
VERY IMPRESSIVE!
WAY TO GO KANSAS.
Yes, the opposite of Led Zeppelin at Live Aid.
I have seen Kansas four times and will always consider them a truly great band!
Underrated is a term used by fools with nothing worth saying
Respect for all true high notes. Perfectly.
Generation Z in 2019, THIS is music.
@erroniouspunk You know what, you are right. Corrected.
Saving people, hunting things, the family business.

This song is as legendary as it gets and boy how it fit the bill for the show as well. The swansong of the Winchesters.
What a legendary band.
What a legendary show.
What a timeless classic.
It was great to see Kerry come onstage and perform this song with them again. He and Rich Williams together were always a powerful guitar duo!
"We got work to do"
SUPERNATURAL ANYONE??
What happened to mankind? what a masterpiece for god sake!!! sorry music, sorry rock, sorry life. I failed you. I am near my 40s, and didn't know about this song and many other 70s and 80s great songs. I was living blind only listening to 90s and 00s rock, which is not bad, indeed is pretty good, but there are so many to discover. It is April 2021, the world is sucking, music nowadays is a piece of shit. There are good songs, but very little from a full ocean of crap.
They haven't lost their step... just as excellent now as when this first came out!!! 🖤🖤 🤘🤘
Steve, Phil, Rich, Billy, David (no Dave or Robbie, but still), the return of the giant hogweeds Kerry and Steve .... the orchestra ........ what else? .... this is history folks
giant hogweeds lol that is fine to say haha
