Have had mine for about 7 years now w/ the nylon strap. The strap is the only weakness, ive gone thru 3 straps... spent more on straps than on the watch...gone thru 2 batteries, not really dead, the backlight just didn't seem so bright. It just refuses to die. Great review & I agree with your review.👍

I bought one of these 6 years ago, a used one, as an option to the Gshocks, since here in Brazil is impossible to pay what they ask for a GShock...And it's been holding up really good as i would expect a GShock should...It went through camping, hiking, gardening, woodworking, sea swimming, pool swimming, motorcycle travels, all in my wrist and never failed me! I had to replace the battery just once and now the original rubber strap is starting to show some cracks. I can attest that this is a tough watch!

This thing works great as a tent clock/thermometer for camping. Makes a good travel digital watch as well. I also keep mine strapped to my pack as a backup when hiking. The strap system works well as a NATO adapter. The main drawback for me is that the stopwatch is only 1 hr, so you are limited when it comes to timing things. Still, for the price I can't really imagine not owning one

I agree this is one of the “best” Casio’s out there (I’ve owned one for 8 years). However, I feel the colors they offer are kind of stuck in the early 2000’s. Casio, instead of making yet another 10 colors for the DW5600, give the SGW100 some love and update the colors, like a black bezel and ditch the blue-ish dial!

I bought this SGW100B-3V in February of 2020 as part of my planning for all the exciting travelling I was going to be doing in 2020. A great beater watch with world time was going to come in handy for sure..... A few weeks later Canada was in full lockdown, and the future seemed bleak. I set the time, calibrated the compass, fiddled with the settings, wore it around my prison cell, er, uh I mean house for a few days, and then put it away, along with all my dreams of travel. In the spring of 2022, I actually was allowed to go camping, and I wore one of my favorite automatic watches with excellent lume. I woke up at 3 in the morning, and discovered that the lume on my watch only lasted a few hours. I had to turn on the light to see the time. That's when I remembered the Casio. I have been wearing it camping, on my motorcycle, and just around the house. Of course, once you get hooked on a Casio, you have to buy more.... right? So, the collecting has begun...

Yep I've had an SGW-100 on a resin strap for over a year, it's brilliant for the money (I paid £35 GBP). The case shape/profile still plays well with shirt sleeves, big legible LCD and light with a mineral glass crystal. Definitely a better buy than the default DW5600/6900 most people are nudged towards for a tough watch. However mine just loses out on wrist time to my GW-M5610, I'm not too sure why that is to be honest.

I bought the same green one as this last week.
Loving it! I paid £44 for mine, paid for it last Wednesday at 16:00hrs GMT, The watch was despatched from Kentucky the same day and reached me, in a remote Northumberland village on the Friday morning. Great piece, even greater service from Amazon.
My other "It's not a G-Shock but..." favourite among my 30+ Casios is the DW290, as seen (apparently) in a well known movie franchise. It too is a 200m water resistance rated piece, only its absence of a protective raised boundary around the crystal sets it apart from the G-Shock family.
I find the nylon strap on the new watch to be extremely comfortable on my 5⅜" wrist, especially after its first time in the shower, which demonstrated that the strap dries out nigh on instantly and keeps its shape.
Highly recommended for any watch collector with similarly eclectic taste.👍👍👍👍👍

I've been hiking and camping with this exact watch for months now, and I love it! The wife just ordered me a Protrek as a bribe (I finally broke down and said yes to getting a cat for the kiddos 😁) , but this will still ride either in a pack or on someones wrist whenever we hit the trails! Superbly comfortable on the rubber strap variant I have, easy to use, and honestly not so bulky as to seem cumbersome. Just an outstanding watch.

Wrong for me.... but okay, use Celsius I don't care? I'm not stopping you... I'll use Fahrenheit and be extremely happy ..
What is it with you foreigners and always wanting to talk metric and Celsius?
Whatever you grew up with is what you're going to prefer, no?
I would absolutely despise to the depths of Hell having to use celsius and but even more so metric...
I would hate to play golf using meters instead of my accustomed yards....
To me the imperial system is superior: inches, feet, yards, pounds, ounces.
      As well as Fahrenheit!
For you the metric system maybe great and ya would never use Fahrenheit over Celsius.
And you're right whatever one you prefer is the right one for you!

I bought the OD green watch after using a casio tough solar 200m for my cheap beater at work for years. I'm an aircraft mechanic and used this watch from 10 deg Fahrenheit to 125 in fuel, oil and a rough workload. This watch for the money can't be beat, use it abuse it and wear your nice watches when its not going to thrashed. I swapped the band for the blue/black version as I hate cloth bands because of the dirty environment I work in.

Hi Mr. Time Teller, great "little" watch. Here in Germany it's around 100$ - may be I will buy it anyway. But I just bought another crazy cheap Casio which is such a great deal (I'm getting older so huge digital Displays are important): AE-1500WH-1AVEF.
Take care and keep up the good work. Always a pleasure to drop by at your channel.

I have (had) this watch. It was bought for me by my sisters either for bday or xmas, can’t remember now, but that was about 5-6 years ago (maybe even a bit longer). I wore it all the time before I got my Apple Watch about 3-4 years ago and loved it (the Casio). Was sitting in my draw for a couple or years then my son broke his watch so thought would give to him expecting to need to get a new battery, but no was still working. He’s had it about 18 months now and still going strong both battery and not broken ( he has a tendency to some how break things easily 😂 - has had a new watch almost every year as he manages to break it some how). Great watch.

I have my SGW-100 over eight years now. It’s my work watch so gets bonked about. Wear it swimming and canoeing. Case is a little bashed up but the bezel has done a great job protecting the glass. Still on the same strap and only replaced the battery.

I can't stand digital displays so I like the Casio MRW-200H-1BVES for outdoor stuff where it might take a few knocks & bashes and I don't mind if it gets damaged. Its a black resin strap watch with a swivel dial. Finished with a matching black dial with white detailing for a modern, monochrome finish, features include day and date window, quartz powered movement and water resistance up to 100 metres. Cheap and durable. It does what it needs to do - tell the time.

I don't have this Casio watch, but I bought similary about 8 years ago a Canyon CNS-SW7 for about $50. It is a triple sensor watch (with quite accurate barometer), you can change the battery by yourself and all the sensors are working as if it was new. The only downside is since it is cheaply made, the outer ring did break a bit, the letters which show the symbols of the sides of the world faded away and the buttons don't respond as they were responding when it was new.

"Solar variant" (PRG-240) has bit more than just solar charging. It has barograph, it also tells time of sunrise/sunset, and it has altimeter etc ... I obtained such (ProTrek PRG-240T to be specific) several years ago, and it has been my "smart watch" without all those useless battery consuming wireless features since then. I have been really happy with that watch. Especially sunrise/sunset time display is great (not even Patek Philippe has that in their Nautilus models) watch clearly tells when to be back from the trail...

I have one of these - mine's the blue one with the negative dial. It's super comfortable - I bought it to wear while bicycling and it is great for this purpose but I find myself wearing it to work a couple of times a week as well. Used it for hiking too, as you said, if I were to lose or damage it I'm not out hundreds of dollars.
I can only think of two things I don't like about it. If I'm wearing polarized sunglasses, the dial goes black far more easily than other digital watches I have (I think it has to do with the negative dial), and I don't like the fact that I can't easily put it on a NATO strap or something if I want (which is part and parcel of Casio ownership, I guess), because this particular model looks great on a nylon strap, unlike other Casios that just look weird. Still, these are tiny niggles that don't detract from it at all for me.

I agree... does yours have a blk resin band? What is the model number on yours? I have the sgw 1000 with a black resin band and it's by far the most comfortable band I've ever worn on any digital watch way more comfortable than the cumbersome G-Shock bands

Casio W-800h is also a bargain mini G-Shock: large, legible time; 100m WR; 10 year battery; dual time; perpetual calendar so you just have set the date once. Just missing countdown timer (there’s a mod for that if it’s really needed)

This was my beater watch for many years. It held up a very long time to some pretty hard service, well over a decade. The nylon strap is more comfortable than the plastic straps most Casio watches come with.
The fake leather on the nylon band will likely be the first thing to fail. The nylon band underneath is bulletproof, so this is entirely cosmetic. But expect that it will start to look a bit ragged long before anything is really wrong with it, and then you have to decide whether a watch this cheap is even worthy of a new band. Honestly, I just lived with the strap looking ratty for years.
Mine eventually crapped out but it lived long enough to need a new battery, so it didn't owe me anything by the time it finally died.
Overall, I liked it, but the compass function was really nothing to write home about. That is more of a gimmick than something you could actually rely on. It is a manageable size, doesn't draw a lot of attention to itself, etc. I suspect that 95% of guys would find this watch performs just as well as a G-Shock. Maybe if you are a Navy SEAL or an Airborne Ranger you need more than this, but it took everything I dished out to it for years.

I asked for one of these for Christmas. I am a squirrel hunter. I got out there one day and my GPS unit failed. I had my phone and a backup compass. The compass was not trustworthy so I used my phone to sporadically give me my heading. After that trip, I wanted a GPS watch that would take a beating without beating my wallet.
