    My absolute FAVORITE generation of the Honda Civic. I would love to have a mint condition sedan right now. It was the perfect small car.

      I had a horribly beat up one with a D15 with a B16 block or something weird like that. The 5 speed was amazing though. I have a 2001 coupe now and other than being a bit heavier, it really feels like the same car

    When you need "a car". This has been "a car" for 31 years and it's still chugging along. Honda's engines last forever and the bodies hold up decently well. Cars were big on the inside because they weren't full of crumple zones and high-strength pillars. On the one hand, you get great visibility and huge windows with low beltlines. On the other hand, crashing is not recommended. The greenhouse looks a little out of proportion to the low beltline but that's just the style of the time.

      @BW my dad’s tenant had a son who survived a rollover into a telephone pole with his 1990 Civic hatchback. Everyone said he should be dead, but he walked out just fine, only a sore neck which lasted for only a week. So to all the people who think EF Civics are unsafe, well then you need to see this comment, because my dad’s tenant is very sold on the old Civic after it saved his son. In a DAM rollover. Don’t assume just based on size, plus they are safe because you can easily maneuver them if you have to quickly steer away from an accident. Not easy to do that in a truck. They also will stop faster & safer than a big 5000 pound truck. If old Civics were deadly, which they aren’t as I mentioned with my example, they wouldn’t be famous legendary enthusiast cars like they are.

    In the X-mas of 2016 i bought a '91 Civic DX special edition sedan for $500. Kid who sold it to me lied about a blown head gasket. I scrapped it after 2 months.
    Kinda wished i spent the 1,300 & change fixing that. Today that car would turn heads.

    Just want to point out that you haven't driven every Civic from this 4th generation. You didn't mention driving the real time all wheel drive four-door wagon which is actually the coolest of them all. That came with a 6-speed manual with an ultra low gear for getting through deep snow as I'm sure you know

    I have an 90 5spd Manual LX sedan. And it really really goes. that 4 speed auto really doesn't do it justice. And they way it handles is great. Since it's quite low it's got pretty minimal body roll for an stock car. I was really surprised I was keeping up with my mates MR2 when we were sending it through an touge the other day.

    My mom had a gray '90 LX sedan that she got as a high school-graduation gift. Great little car, certainly a major step-up from the maroon '84 Nissan Stanza that she had before it (owners before her didn't take good care of it). Had it for 10 years while she and my dad were dating, no issues whatsoever. Finally traded it in for a green '00 Accord SE. I imagine Honda's design philosophy for the 4th gen Civic stuck around for a long time after that, because my 2012 Civic LX feels just like a much more modern version of hers.

    I spent the majority of my childhood in one of these. My folks bought a 5-speed one brand new off the lot when my sister was born in 1991, and that was our main family vehicle until 2002 when they bought a new minivan. Don't forget about the CR-X and the wagon btw.

    Hey Miles, soap, water a vacuum and some seat covers. Would go a very long way. Just because something is old doesn't mean it has to be filthy. I'm old and I bathe on the regular.

      @bapa6396 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sam, I’m the owner of this vehicle. These seats have been shampooed multiple times in the time I’ve had it. It’s not dirt that gives those seats that look, but the fabric that’s wearing off. The back seats are very soft to the touch and the “fur” of the fabric remained. The front two seats have a very hard, Almost canvas feel. They will be getting reupholstered.

    Awesome review of an awesome car! And vastly better equipped and superior to a Corolla of the same vintage (Corollas still had to make do with a 3-speed automatic unless you went for the pricey LE which was rare).

    Honda give us a small $20ish basic car...fit for example, ur sales will go up. Small families, students, empty nesters don't want a suv

    • @bwofficial1776
      @bwofficial1776 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Fit fit that market and was a reliable seller if not a fast seller. They're bigger on the inside than they look. The new HR-V is bigger and more expensive so Honda can make more money off that. The old HR-V was just a lifted Fit with weird styling. Same thing with the Ford Focus/Fiesta, Chevy Spark, Toyota Yaris, and so on. They weren't the fastest sellers or the most profitable but they were reliable sellers. Now you either buy a Mitsubishi or look for a gently used small car.
