Hunter Brown and eventually Spencer Arrighetti immediately turning into star pitchers to help out Ronel Blanco. Jon Singleton in 2024! The Astros' success can be traced to how well they surround their stars with a quality supporting cast and is why they've lasted this long.
They have a chance only becaue the league is so mid. They don't have the first seed though and that's benefitted them greatly in past campaigns. They've also never had to settle for the WC round.

I say it like this: The moment is not too big for them. That's what you need to worry about. If you see an Astros rookie, get ready for them to play at least above average. Ben Gamel injury out for the year should be in the video along with the Chaz McCormick injury. Gamel was a top 3 player on the team and Chaz was on fire after getting called back up. Jason is killing it. Hitting HR's and making gold glove level catches like he is trying to add another one to his resume. Gamel was a revelation because we needed a good left handed contact hitter in the outfield, once we traded Loperfido. Losing him really really blows because he was playing like an All-Star. Chaz was only doing it in the field. He got demoted because he was terrible against lefties and righties and tbh I wouldn't be shocked if he isn't on this team next year.

I get "all empires fall" but Houston has two key free agent openings this year. Bregman Kikuchi Verlander is a big part of this era as an icon. Pressley might walk but has an option I believe. So, Houston has good starting pitching, 8 of 9 starters returning, and cap shouldnt be a massive issue. Plus Dana Brown gets to have an offseason. I dont think its over at this point, I dont think it's a "last ride" an an organization. I think Houston probably has three years at this level if not more.

2021 Braves had the injury bug bite them hard but won a WS. 2022 Phillies were 3rd in the NL central but made it to the WS. 2019 Nationals won the WC and went on to win the WS. 2014 Giants won the WC and the WS. So its certainly not uncommon for low win teams to win it all in October
The KEY to the Astros this year was the injuries to the pitching staff. This ONE factor forced the Astros to use young guys who then gained valuable experience. Our worse pitcher is Verlander while our best is Ronel! Throw in Kikucjhi, Brown and Arrighetti and we are very formidable. Ironically, the "weak links" are the experienced guys (Verlander and Pressly).

I didnt know Astros had a "dynasty". I thought dynasty only refers to world series title winning machines, such as Yankees in the 90s where they won 96, 98, 99, 2000 or Giants where they win 2010, 2012, 2014. Every year the Astros start off slow, in 2022 they were 11-11 and the angels were leading the division, but 2024 was historically bad, the worst of any year of this dynasty
I just feel bad for the Mariners' pitchers. They did so insanely well this year just for the hitters to go and put some absolute zeros on the scoreboard. Not seeing Logan Gilbert or Bryce Miller this year in the postseason feels like a crime.
It always irks me when people credit Kooch's development into a great starter to the Astros. He was arguably the jays 2nd best starter over the past two years. Kooch was getting babip'd in the first half. His FIP between the first and second half are pretty similar, sitting around 3.50.
I hate to pick on the guy because I know he didn't mean to be that bad, but it was addition by subtraction when we got rid of Jose Abreu and later Rafael Montero. I blame Bagwell and Crane for those debacles.

Both teams started with each other at the beginning and the end of the season and with all the history they have had with each other throughout the year. If stros somehow make it all the way than it shows that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

The Astros’ weakness for the last few postseasons has been hitting with RISP, especially at home

2021 Braves had the injury bug bite them hard but won a WS.
2022 Phillies were 3rd in the NL central but made it to the WS.
2019 Nationals won the WC and went on to win the WS.
2014 Giants won the WC and the WS.
So its certainly not uncommon for low win teams to win it all in October
The KEY to the Astros this year was the injuries to the pitching staff. This ONE factor forced the Astros to use young guys who then gained valuable experience. Our worse pitcher is Verlander while our best is Ronel! Throw in Kikucjhi, Brown and Arrighetti and we are very formidable. Ironically, the "weak links" are the experienced guys (Verlander and Pressly).

Their lineup scares nobody, but their pitching can do the job.. Their defense is not elite, but their gumption is off the charts!..

I didnt know Astros had a "dynasty". I thought dynasty only refers to world series title winning machines, such as Yankees in the 90s where they won 96, 98, 99, 2000 or Giants where they win 2010, 2012, 2014. Astros barely won one in 2022 and who knows if they even won it without cheating. So how is this a dynasty?

Every year the Astros start off slow, in 2022 they were 11-11 and the angels were leading the division, but 2024 was historically bad, the worst of any year of this dynasty
I just feel bad for the Mariners' pitchers. They did so insanely well this year just for the hitters to go and put some absolute zeros on the scoreboard. Not seeing Logan Gilbert or Bryce Miller this year in the postseason feels like a crime.

It always irks me when people credit Kooch's development into a great starter to the Astros. He was arguably the jays 2nd best starter over the past two years. Kooch was getting babip'd in the first half. His FIP between the first and second half are pretty similar, sitting around 3.50.
His pitch usage changed in Houston. He uses his curveball less and his changeup more
