How To Rig a Plastic Worm Straight & Weedless | Bass Fishing

  • Here's how to rig a soft plastic worm, or lure, straight for Bass fishing. In this how to video, I'll show you how to rig a few different plastic worms on both an extra wide gap offset hook, and a straight shank / flipping hook. Aside from the arch, I like to rig with a fluke (soft plastic jerk bait), I usually want my plastic worms, craws, senkos, and other creature baits to sit on the hook as straight as possible while still remaining relatively weedless. Learning how to rig a soft plastic worm the right way can greatly improve the action, performance, and even your hookup ratio when fishing for Bass.

    i like the instructional videos better than watching you catch 20 fish. Now I know how to get the worm straight. Thank you.

    These instructional videos are great, Chuck. I think this is the first time I’ve seen you touch a craw!

    Wasn't sure I wanted to watch because "EVERYBODY" knows how to rig a soft plastic. Well, once again you had something in your video that I hadn't thought of (hiding the knot for protection). Good job and thanks!

    I remember the other video when you showed the correct way to rig the fluke and it was a game changer for me. Only thing I do a little different is I like to use Gamagatsu 3/00 offsets with the tiny weight attached to the hook shank. It just helps it sink a touch faster because I have such a hard time dead-sticking it like you do. Impatience I guess...lol.
    But thanks for the video and don't be scared to do more of these. Rigging and bait presentation techniques are something we all could probably benefit from.

      No problem, Bo. If it’s stops raining every day, I’ll try to come up with another one.

    Hey Chuck. Thanks again for making this video. I bought some of the hooks you mentioned In the video, and now, I'm catching more bass, and going through a lot less flukes. I've been telling everybody that I talk to about your channel, especially people with kids. Yesterday, a lady thanked me for telling her about your channel, because after her 8 year old son started watching your videos, he said that now, he wants to be a guide just like Mr. Pippin in the videos.👍😃

    Our points leader in our bass club fishes exclusively a Wacky Worm (with a Octopus Hook) on neon green 30 lb. braid (from Academy) in every Central Florida Lake. He fishes it on a spinning reel with NO leader. He out fishes all of us. I don't think Florida Strain Bass give a crap about our fishing line visibility !!!

    Million dollar question, how to get the soft plastic smell off your hands after touching them. Windex works OK for getting fish smells off.

    Chuck - what kind or size bobber-stop do use on worms? At the beginning of the video, I saw one on your line but you didn't discuss it. I've heard that it helps when going through heavy weeds (less to catch on). Do you agree that it helps?

    • @ChuckPippinBassFishing
      @ChuckPippinBassFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I do agree that it helps. It also helps when fishinf around wood & brush piles. Keeps the sinker from sliding away from the bait. I’m not sure what size stopper I’m using. They only need to be slightly bigger than the line hole through the sinker.

    Chuck do you use creatures on EWG hooks ever or just on straight shank?

  • @jonnicholas8028

    Do you use a barrel swivel with flukes to avoid line twist?

    • @ChuckPippinBassFishing
      @ChuckPippinBassFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never. That’s 2 extra knots you have to deal with. It’ll only twist if you don’t have it rigged correctly. Make sure it doesn’t curve up, away from the hook.
