  • In many parts of the country, most ponds or lakes have one thing in common: GRASS & WEEDS! Fishing around aquatic vegetation can be one of the most productive ways to catch fish... that is, if you know what lures to throw! If you throw the wrong lure, you are going to have a horrible day and claim "There's no fish here!". SUBSCRIBE if you liked this content, and join up for extra content!

    I love the swim jigs
    There my favorite type of jig because of how versatile it is. I would say the football jig is my second favorite because I catch most of my big bass on that.

    great video thanks!use to avoid fishing around grass,but there'are not so many options during summer for bank fishing,most water are coverd with grass. love fluke recently,so versatile lure,i can even use it poping on lilypads as frog and got hit,got my first largemouth around grass last weekend,so happy have more fishble options.

    Yesterday I took my kayak out to the pond I grew up fishing and it was sad to see the state of the pond... it's a very big pond, honestly most people down south would probably call it a lake.. but every square inch of the pond was nothing but grass... I tried throwing swim jigs, stick baits, arky jigs and the grass was so thick it would just sit a few inches below the surface because I don't really have any jigs or weights heavier than 3/8... I was at a loss of what to do so I just kept trying for awhile and then just left.. but id never seen so much grass, and it's the grass that you would say is good grass but there was just so much of it that there was nothing I could do

    i was fishing at my granny's pond where my record for bass is (4 1/2 pounds) and i will use little plastic cricket lures with a weight because its so light and i can get 2 pounds maybe bigger bass and a lot of bluegill and i also use a small dark green inside jighead shad and it will work better for bass but still good for bluegill and crappie

    Yeah I was sitting here watching your video and we went to talkin about the Chatterbait hornet in grass personally myself I'll throw it in the grass on purpose and rip it through the grass and I have caught some of the biggest bass in my life try putting a fluke on the back of a Chatterbait and rip it to the grass

  • @MysteryOutdoors
    @MysteryOutdoors ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve found that u can use a belly weighted swimbait hook instead of a tungsten it doesn’t get hung in the grass and if u cant afford belly weighted hooks u can climp a pinch weight to ur hook

  • @JohnVC
    @JohnVC 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I didn't really hear what type of line was best for weightless stick baits. If I have a 7-foot medium-heavy, should I avoid braid and go 10-20# flourocarbon? I love braid in weeds, but the dang Senko won't sink lol.

  • @as3sxp
    @as3sxp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you throw the swim jig on straight braid or fluoro or both? I typically run about 30lb braid with a 12-15lb fluoro leader.

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      All depends on water clarity and how thick the grass is im fishing. The lightest I’ll go is 15lb flouro, the heaviest is 50ld braid

    What lure should you throw for a pond heavy with snot grass??

    • @JohnVC
      @JohnVC 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ugh, snot grass. Usually it's best to throw your stuff in the car and try a different pond lol

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That^^ haha or a weightless fluke

    • @JohnVC
      @JohnVC 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TylersReelFishing Yeah a weightless fluke or Senko, popping it so it breaks through the weeds can trigger a reaction bite and stay weedless enough. You pop it on a slack line.
      The problem is that if you put a weight on you get weeds, if you keep it weigh less you can't really punch deep enough sometimes, so it's best to throw it at the edge of the weed line if you can. Best case scenario try to cover as much water as you can along the weed line.
