It's so cool how they barely hint the obscure side, making it look like a cute game. Awesome to see its M rating.
I know made in Abyss, but still the scene at 1:57 kinda shocked me. Didn't expect them to switch the mood that quickly
That's honestly what makes the presentation of _Made in Abyss_ so enthralling: it's _breathtakingly_ beautiful, but that beauty is very clearly joined at the hip to the dangers of the Abyss, so the sharp turns into nightmare fuel happen almost without fanfare. It's rare to see a story pull that off so _naturally._
I mean it would be weird giving it less if you think about it. You see children bleeding from their eyes. and that is only stuff outside the story, if you think of all the stuff that happens in the anime.

I had a heart attack when I saw this. Imagine some unsuspecting parent gets this for their kid, and comes back after an hour to see them mumbling to themselves in the corner while crawled into a little ball

If it had an alternate universe, this premise would absolutely fit a Tom Clancy game or heck, even something like STALKER.
I'm so glad a Made in Abyss game finally exists cuz I think a Made in Abyss game just makes so much sense because the premise of the anime/manga would really translate well for a game, I hope this game does well
The core premise has a lot in common with the _Etrian Odyssey_ series created by Atlus -- a small team of explorers delving into a vast, uncharted labyrinth filled with hostile wildlife and valuable resources, seeking the truth that waits deep below.

@@johnp.wintergreen5712 The similarities made it an easy sell for me, but what hooked me immediately was the visuals. I'd never seen Kinema Citrus's work before, but it's almost Ghibli-esque in its beauty -- and I don't make that comparison _lightly._

It absolutely great that they kept all the grim stuff hidden and/or at the end to decieve people into thinking it another boring, cute, happy rpg. Fans know whats in store with the story.
Hopefully it's not that hidden if you pay attention to a certain part of the trailer...But I still worry for the kids who will get this game. xD

What a cute little adventure game based off a anime, gonna go check it out on a streaming service. Must be one of those feel good adventure story animes where the main characters use the power of courage and friendship for the situations they get themselves into. Looks like it could be a fun watch for the whole family

I still remember the day I started reading the manga because it looked like a cute adventure story with some high stakes.
I was not prepared and it got my hooks in me exactly because I started to care about the cute characters in a horribly unfair survival horror world.
I mean... it _is_ cute and it _is_ an adventure story with high stakes, so you weren't _technically_ wrong...

We literally need an AbyssMMO with intricate, permanent systems in place for your characters, such as the curse effects being permanent , etc
No need of permanant curse effects. There would already be enough chaos between the characters attacking others because of the abyss's hallucinations AND the trolls who just do their best to ruin everyone's fun. At this point I'd be more worried about the MMO aspect than the abyss itself...
The real curse was the friends we made along the way!

Because people don't understand the M rating, here's the effects of the Curse of the Abyss, which is basically a strain put on your body from trying to climb back up. The deeper you go, the worse it gets.
-1st layer: Light dizziness and nausea.
-2nd layer: Intense nausea, headaches and numbness of limbs.
-3rd layer: Same as previous layers with the addition of auditory and visual hallucinations.
-4th layer: Intense pain throughout the body and bleeding from every orifice.
-5th layer: Complete sensory deprivation, confusion and self-harming behavior.
-6th layer: Loss of humanity or death. Considered the point of no return.
-7th layer and beyond: Certain death.
So... how tf are you supposed to come back from 7 layers then ?
@@miwestraveler3986 Anyone who goes as far as the 6th layer is considered to be going on their "Last Dive", as it's considered the point of no return. From there if you ascend you either die or lose your humanity. Those who lose their humanity become Hollows, creatures that range from intelligent and monsterlike in appearance to soulless piles of melted flesh that are trapped in a constant state of pain and suffering.
Cave Raiders are separated by ranks, determined by their whistle. There are six ranks, Bell, Red, Blue, Moon, Black and White. The White Whistles are considered legends, and are the only ones known to go that deep. Riko, the main character, was a Red Whistle. Any time a Red Whistle goes below the 2nd layer, it's considered a suicide.

@@miwestraveler3986 White Whistles are rare in the story so far. At least two are confirmed to be above the 6th layer, one of whom is Ozen, seen in the trailer.
Riko's mother is a Cave Raider who made her Last Dive. Somehow she was able to send a mail balloon with her White Whistle, records of yet to be discovered creatures and a message for Riko, so Riko believes she's still alive out there, prompting her journey down.
In addition, it's believed the robot boy, Reg, came from somewhere down there to the surface. He is immune to the effects of the Curse.
There may also be a way to avoid the Curse's effects entirely, though that hasn't been touched on a lot. The story's still being written, but we know it's possible to maintain humanity in the 6th layer, as long as you don't ascend.

Felt like the background can be better since that's is what make Made in Abyss' world fascinating, the anime has much better background
the river could be a little more fleshed out. But otherwise looks like a fun adventure. Didnt care for the style used in the anime, but it fits well for a videogame. Nice. The dark twists are also intriguing.

I hope there will be an update that'd just be descending into the Abyss and trying to just survive. Semi-Survival but more of a focus on just descending. No story, just pretty much Roguelike.
