Absolutely. I know quite a few people, myself included, who got into Ryza because of the meme, but stayed for the game, story, music, etc. It's it's all pretty great. A few of us have gone back to check out prior entries too. I'm currently playing through Sophie 2, myself. c:

The Ryza games are gems. The first game grabbed me with the aesthetic and art design for the characters. Even the landscapes were gorgeous imo. Gameplay was interesting enough but you could feel it had room for improvement. Second game completely nailed the combat. It was sooo smooth and fluid. Monumental leap. I'm hoping the third refines that even further. The min maxing alchemy stuff is definitely spreadsheet territory if you're into that. I had to pull up a few tabs online to keep up lol. Thanks a ton for spotlighting this Nintendo!

I feel like Ryza is so good bc her series did it right. Keep the same protag for each series. I know the formula is good bc the second they released Sophie 2, that game was a freaking god send for me. You also don't need to waste time building your audience to like the new protag in every title in a trilogy if we are already invested in the protag each game. I feel this is always the way it goes for me & maybe it's like this for others: First alchemist in Trilogy: Always peak & my fav lead alchemists in both the trilogy & the Atelier series in general. (Rorona, Ayesha, Sophie) Second alchemist in trilogy: Tends to be awesome, but not as good as the previous alchemist in said trilogy. (Totori, Escha/Logy, Firis) Third alchemist in the trilogy: Literally, these are among my least favorite among lead alchemists, both in designs & personalities. (Meruru, the Shallies, Lydie/Suelle) Based on this i'd say the magic trilogy formula (for me) is: first game: X character second game: New Y character third game: Back to X character

The 1st Ryza game introduced me to the franchise, it now holds a place in my heart as one of my favourite franchises of all time, I'm so excited for the 3rd installment of Ryza's story!
It's really a shame that this trailer kinda got drowned out in a sea of farming simulators and generic RPGs during the last Nintendo direct. If you know anything about Atelier Ryza, you know how BIG this announcement was. Looking forward to this one for sure!
I only recently heard of the series but already played through ryza 1 and almost done with 2 and I can say I can’t wait for the third! I was afraid of the combat system but I surprisingly found it super fun, esp in 2 with its fluidity, combos and core drives (though I missed the roles and more varied action orders from 1). As for the alchemy, synthesis is super intriguing as well, though I admit I don’t always make the most of every material 😅 Excited to see what 3 has in store for us! And I’m so glad to be able to have Bos in my party finally!
Looking back, it’s honestly so cool that Ryza 2 and 3 were first announced during Nintendo Directs. It goes to show how well the Ryza games have done on switch. I love playing every Ryza game in the trilogy, I need to finish the third game. In the future I might double dip and get all 3 games on Steam in addition to already having all of the trilogy physical on Switch. I’m so excited for the Ryza anime that’s coming in a week!

So I got to tell you this right now. I have a bit of a confession to make. I've never played an Atelier Ryza game let alone an atelier game. I saw this game in the direct and then last night I saw this trailer and I'm like, you know...... I missed out. Atelier Ryza was something that went completely under my radar
Haven’t played the first two games, but will be getting this one via preorder as soon as possible. Mainly because, although not shown here but in the Direct version, she gets to ride a dolphin. Always wanted a game where you can ride a dolphin.
I definitely recommend picking up the first 2. While you probably don't need to play them before umping into this one, there are a lot of story and character moments that have better payoffs when you have the context of the previous events
@@yeahtbh.161 Not as a means of transportation. Though I have not played WR64, the dolphin in that game was just another sports craft, that needed to be unlocked. I mean as an actual beast of burden like in this game.

Briefly played (Vita version) Borderlands 2, haven't played the first BL. Playing (Switch version) Skyrim, the fifth Elder Scrolls, haven't played any others. As you can tell, playing a game series without playing the first game(s) is not new to me.
Man I’m so excited for this next month. Ryza was my first introduction into the Atelier series and I’ve been hooked to the series ever since. I’m probably gonna cry at the end of Ryza 3 though since this game means so much to me.

Ironiclly enough its a top PS2 game of mine now and forever.

I actually got into Atelier through Ryza's controversy back in the days lol and since then I've been go backward beating every series from there. I've already done all Mysterious saga and beat Lulua, currently on last chapter in Shallie.
Technically you can, but youll miss out on so much character building and backstory, because from the trailer it looks like theyll be answering some unsolved issues from the first game.

For me the best bit of each Atelier game is the soundtrack, and the Ryza Trilogy absolutely knocks it out of the park with each entry.
