      How do we know she wasn't just joking? How do we know she wasn't just some friend of the comedian who he asked to shout that out in order to get a load of viral views online? We don't know. Like almost everything on social media now, we in fact have very little clue at all about the reality of the situation, yet everyone is being instantly reactionary in their big instant opinions and just believing the viral video narrative. Manufactured controversy sells like nothing else and all anyone wants now is for as many people as possible to click their links after seeing wild controversial titles and wacky thumbnails. Something to seriously think about, because it really shocks me still just how many people seem to have no clue this is how the entire internet now works (also spilling over to other media).

    As a musician, all I can say is that music is for everyone. If you don’t like people emulating past musicians that they like, go home and remove all the music you’ve ever heard from your life. If you want to take rap far enough back, you’re eventually going to reach the first poet in Babylon and the first known music in Mesopotamia and hey, we’re all appropriating the Middle East.

      Exactly. Every time i hear "other cultures can't wear braids thats cultural appropriation and the reparations for slavery" ok fine but before we put a stop to other cultures wearing braids take a look around you 99% of everything you use came from ideas and then perfected by other cultures, so you must stop using those things because by your logic its stealing. And if we had to pay reparations for slavery then we would be going round and round forcing every country to pay up because slavery didn't start in the 15/16 century its been around since the beginning. Lots of people have zero critical thinking skills combined with massive victim complex.

      @XAE_A_Xii 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well. It’s understandable for black people to hate white for all the slavery and humiliation they had to go through in the past. I don’t support it, and not all nations of white people were involved in black slavery, and not only whites but Arabs also were heavily involved, and Africans themselves used and sell slaves , and finally many whites were enslaved (Ottoman, Persian empires, Arab caliphate, Roman Empire and so on took white people as slaves). Best thing we close the page on this and never return to our barbaric past. But for white peoples hating other races due to their feeling of superiority is much less understandable for me

    • @TheRealDr.Mabuse
      @TheRealDr.Mabuse 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @kevinschultz6091
      @kevinschultz6091 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +76

      Well, the actual definition of "reverse racism" is that (in America at least) policies that are designed to address racial injustice are actually discrimination against white people. It's a common conservative talking point, and there's very little evidence to support it. (Rather, what is more likely occurring is that, to those who have only known unjust privilege, a move towards equality feels like oppression.)
      that being said - yeah, Chris Turner used a more basic definition, which is "minorities being racist to white people" - which I agree is just "racism".
      EDIT - hey all - if you disagree with this post, that's fine. But as you can see, this thread is (as of writing) over 150 posts long. Before giving me your counterargument, please check to see if someone else has already given it, and what my response was to THEM. If you don't, the only response I will give you is "please read the thread fully, and get back to me when you have." And if you continue, I will reply with "already addressed above".
      EDIT II - also, please let me know which post you're responding to - I have almost 40 of them in this thread, as of writing. If you don't, I'll simply ask you to clarify, and won't respond with anything else until you do.

    The term Cultural appropriation is a silly term when you think about it. If the lady, that made that comment, would have to stop doing everything that didn't come from her culture. She would have to live in a home without lights, no automobile, no air conditioning, and most of the food she eats, the list is long. In other words, the world is a blend of all cultures.

    And I had to give a chuckle with reverse racism of Spanish towards white people, as the person who said probably doesn't realize that most Spanish people are white. They're mixing up the language that they speak and the race of the person, probably meant Mexican (Or Latino) not Spanish

      ...and this is the problem of trying to tie race to genetics. It doesn't work, as it's not a scientific barrier. Historically, for those who care about race, Spanish (and Mexican in particular) people are either white or not, depending on the political needs of the day. (Usually they are, though, just because most can passe blanc.) Although for Mexicans in particular, the "no" column was usually justified by pointing to mestizo ancestry. Check out the "Definition of Whiteness in the United States" wiki article for more on this.
