I love watching Dalton show JD how to do real world things that will be a benefit for his future. The lesson of how to work with his own two hands is a better education than JD could ever learn anywhere else. The love between this father and son is priceless!! I love this channel!
Coming from a Road Runner fanatic I'm glad to see this one get a second chance at life. I have a huge appreciation for the work you and your son put into the Road Runner as well as the other vehicles and videos. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the van and Eagle. One more thing, if the Road Runner is "cursed," it couldn't have anything to do with being a Plymouth could it? you know, like that possessed '58 Plymouth Fury known as Christine.
There is little left to say, seriously Dal'un, you said it all several times over. '...I'm not keeping this.' '...it's for sale!' Been one hella ride though, thanks for the cold weather indoor entertainment.
I like how on every project you check when filling to see if its pouring on the ground. I've been guilty of my tractor oil changes losing a quart or 2 because of the non existent drain plug.
I'm so glad I went back and watched the entire series. Made so much sense. What I'm wondering is exactly how and when the transmission decided to actually give you first (and park) ... b/c the vid went from "no gears) to first/park and wild ride around the yard. Your son will remember these moments forever and will be retelling these stories to his grandchildren a half a century from now. Way to go Dalton. :)
I love watching you rescue these cars that otherwise would be rotting away.also love the farther an son building together that's so awesome you guys are a great team
Man I love watching you and your son work on old cars it takes me about to a time when I worked on junk with my pop the only difference is my dad would get mad and curse the builders of the car.
Dalton, I have three things to say: 1. I’m sorry I threw shade on your plan to use the GM alternator a couple videos back. As soon as I saw the all-thread pivot rod going back to the head I knew you were on the right track; that was my fix many years ago on my 318 ‘68 Dart sedan (AKA the best $250 I ever spent). I should never have doubted you - won’t happen again. 2. As a life long MoPar guy, I can say with confidence the Plymouth doesn’t hate you; it smells fear. 3. Again, as a MoPar guy, I have to say you’ve got it backwards: Sell the Goat to finance the ‘Runner (I know you would never concede to that) Another great video!

Congratulations on the movement of the 69 Roadrunner. It does run pretty well. And it may make a nice builder. Thank you for sharing! Sometimes it’s better to cut bait. And so right needs a transmission. And JD is honest.
Glad I found this channel, reminds me of first garage I worked on my stuff in, didn't need floor dry because what I drove daily had enough dirt and rust falling off it to use for clean up and I think they used a 2x4 to finish concrete floor and I used whatever gently used (junk) parts I could find because I was broke and had to get to work in the morning
Dalton,I see JD having a bright future with you on the channel and likely eventually his own channel later in the future. It's cool to me how much he catches on and plays out your sarcasm the way he does. Honestly most young men his age wouldn't be quite as savvy as he is to your crude style humor. Love the style, great content and really enjoy seeing you two interact in the shop together. Keep up the good work and great job with the camera JD. Wish I didn't live all the way over and up in NY so far away from all my favorite meta friends!

I've just started watching this channel and am really enjoying it. Just pressed play on this video while taking a quick sip of my drink and needless to say the drink didn't stay in my mouth. This is probably the best intro/start to a video I've ever seen.....LOL
Total respect for you getting it running again for the first time in 30 years!!! If I just had the cash. Seriously. But unfortunately I need to complete another project that's been plaguing me since 2012, lol. I just have to see it through. 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator that I saved from the Crusher!! Can't wait to see the Vansformation!!!
@Auteur Fiddler , unfortunately it's not even a good parts car. But the "story" behind it is the ONLY reason I want to see it through. It is rotted out horrible, but the original owner purchased it 05/25/70 and had it only a short time before being drafted into Vietnam; according to the second owner's brother and his best friend. The brother also said that every year he and his family around the holidays would go up to their grandparents house and see it sitting under a pine tree next to the garage. Every year, they would knock on the door and ask if they would sell it. The old couple would say no it was their son's car and they wouldn't sell it. Fast forward to November of 1982, same thing, but the old lady said to them, my husband recently passed away, so give me your name, address, and number and I'll leave it with the title. I am not well, and I'll leave a note with it. ". Once again this is what I was told. Anyway, the beginning of May, 1983 "John" was notified by mail from an attorney that he could buy it from the estate. John took a loan from the bank ($2,146.40) and purchased it 05/25/1983. He put a lot of work into it (they said about 1.5 years until he could drive it) repainted it, wrecked it, repainted it again, and wrecked it again. Unfortunately as he was repairing it for the second time, he passed away suddenly. I don't know when exactly. I purchased it 05/23/2012. It was stripped of all the "Eliminator" specific parts and it had a '69 nose bugger welded on it. I found another 70 Cougar parts car and transferred the parts to make it run: until my buddy and I were just about to go for a ride, something wasn't quite right with the steering. The frame rail was rotted out horrible where the power steering mounted. THE FRAME RAIL WAS COVERED BY METAL TAPE AND SPRAYED OVER WITH UNDERCOATING 😳😱☠️☠️☠️ So out of respect to the first owner who I was told is considered to be MIA/POW of the Vietnam War, I felt that the vehicle deserved to be redone as a respect for our veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. My way of saying thank you for your service. God bless.

Cool that you got it to move. Hopefully it goes to Dylan McCool or someone who will make work enough to drive in "as is shape" and not someone crazy enough to fully restore it. Looking forward to the van build.
Ive worked on a LOT of transmissions of all brands, and they almost all have a magnet in them.. most likely if you arent used to seeing a magnet in a trans pan. Then thats a sign that that trans has been opened up previously by someone who took the magnet out to clean it and forgot to put it back in.💙
Let that one go, you did what you said, it rolls under it's own power, time to get on to a project that gets "YOUR" excitement flowing, that in turn gets us in it with you, and maybe a "lightning strikes twice" series of a build for you to draw in more folks and have a blast doing it 😎
I've had cars that hated me, so I understand the feeling. One was a '77 Firebird. That car thought having a good time meant to stall and not restart for 45 minutes in the worst places possible. Really though, that car's problem was mostly the brand new design spread bore Holley 2 that I fought and fought and fought with, replacing a blown power valve with almost every tank of gas. There is a reason those carbs were only made for a very short time, then the Holley 2 name was moved to the remanned OE carbs to save face. The other one was an '86 IROC Z/28. That one thought I was it's sugar daddy. The first 3 months I owned that POS I replaced the radiator, the engine and the cat (smog testing where I lived). Never had any problems like you're having with Mopars, but it could happen. Back in the time when cars had personality, it does seem that they almost all had their own spirit. Some were not so nice.
was hoping to see more on this car roadrunner is my favorite mopar but as someone that has limited funds and patiance i understand.. wish i could afford to buy it i would get it running and safe to drive for a daily wtg Dalton you got it running and driving
replace that banana shaped tensioner bracket with a hardware store eyelet turnbuckle and you got yourself a fancy schmancy "OEM Improved" adjustable alternator. done that swap a handful of times on tractors and it works just great
As someone who has worked on antique clocks, I can totally understand were you are with this car. Sometimes those stupid things will not work no matter what I do! It gets to a point we’re I throw them back in the case and send them down the road to the next guy.
You are correct, some projects tell you if they want to be saved or they are perfectly happy rotting to death, this one gave you all the signs of which way it wanted to go!
Trans might be gummed up with varnish. If someone wanted it they could maybe fix it by flushing it with some diesel fuel. That's my guess. Have a 78 dodge b300 with a 360 and an a-904 trans. Someone told me that allegid trick a few years back. Never tried my trans is fine. Thank you for the Hemi Orange by the by! Great video!
You my friend have become a proven seasoned putter back on the roader amazingly talented modest artist. I really, really look forward to you building that bad ass "70's Vibe Cool Van" It should and I bet will be an all out Hum Dinger ! 👍👍👍💥
It was awesome seeing you and your Son get the curst of a Mopar runner lay a cross on it maybe that will fix everything. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
I enjoy the fact that your cat keeps doing cameo appearances. I love the car, it's my kind of crazy and it was popular (and new) the year I graduated, but it would bankrupt me to drive it around the block, much less purchase it. Best of luck.
FYI you can make a vacuum pump out of an old fridge compressor using nothing but the compressor, a cord end, some hose and an empty glass bottle possible sourced from your liquor cabinet. Then you'd never have to get a mouthful of gas again. Also you can measure crankshaft endplay with feeler gauges.
Function over form big guy!!! If it's works it's fine. And looks like sweet baby rays bbq sauce in the trans pan!!! Thanks for the fun ride with it , and some yard cookies. On to the next magical endeavor. And the magnet is factory in the pan. It's for picking up fine metals most trans have em
48:41. Just for that one look, this whole thing was worth it. You got your money's worth out of it. It is literally written on your face. I have really enjoyed this series. Each episode was funny, well edited and incredibly entertaining. Neil :-)
I gotta tell ya bud. I started watching TH-cam car videos years ago when Puddins Fab Shop and VGG were small and watched them explode and get sponsored etc. But I miss the ingenuity of just getting it done however with some comedic relief not just throwing money at the problem but making do. Your channels great and I'm cheap but I may buy a hat
Dylan McCool may want that car. Contact him and see if he wants it. He's a mopar guy on youtube located in TN. This car is right up his alley. Its a shame you didn't get it on the road again though.
That Roadrunner reminds me of an old joke: A Texan visiting a watering hole (aka: a pub) somewhere in NZ: "You know, I've been looking at the size of the land around your houses here and I gotta say that back home I can get in my truck, fire it up and drive all day without getting from one side of my land to the other." A young Maori bloke (listening to the Texan): "Yeah, I had a car like that once too, eh....." You got it to move, declared a victory and moving on.....and fair enough too, mate. Like you said, for some reason the Rolled Runner just doesn't seem to like you and fights you with every erg of its being. Some builds are like that......and some you win, some you lose.....but they all teach us something......like "maybe it wasn't such a good idea to begin with". I've had a few of those revelations myself.....and it hasn't helped a bit when it came to the next time I saw a project that I thought I could do something with! On to the White Vantastic!
1st I love watching the channel to detox from work 2nd if I ever have a chance to buy one of your cars remind me I don’t want to have the next owner problems
I know this is old but I'm gonna say it anyway, if you don't wanna deal with cables and are capable of making a few 45° to 180° brackets(just cut em out of something, doesn't really matter, I use an old truck frame), draw out what you think you need, use some decent all thread, cut it to length, put some cheap o-rings on it about every two-three inches, slide a piece of aluminum tubing over the all thread with the o-rings on it and cap it off with a properly sized heim. Make sure your bolts going through the heim are snug and you're good. You're brackets to get your angles just bolt anywhere that's open and make sure they have good, free range of motion. Usually only take 1-3 brackets depending on what you're doing, it feels way better, and you don't have to worry about cables.
It's all about the memories. Good bad right or wrong this boy is going to have great memories and stories to tell about working on cars with his ol man. Bravo you MASTER of the butching. 😂
Since Im a new subscriber and watched every Holy Goat and Rolled Runner video (and the 59 ford compilation) Ive gotta say Ill miss the Runner. I'm mostly a GM guy but I like Mopars as well. I liked what you did to that Ford by the way.
Love your channel friend! Reminds me of me and my buddies doing budget work back in the old days. Complete with half drunk bottles of RC cola lying around. Approved!
Lol I had a 66 Plymouth Satellite that has a 273/904 that that happened to the trans as well, it also had gunk in the pan which was clutch pack material. Basically the clutch packs fell apart and basically heat welded themselves to where it was stuck in first gear, you could shift through all of the gears but it was always 1st, going in reverse would bind the trans up like you were holding the makes in gear. Good to see the rolledrunner get to move at least before you sell it though!

Your son is gonna have these memories forever dude.
That's a car you buy and it makes you become a TH-camr!!!!! And start showing your own work on cars that you've been putting off for ever!!!
Looking forward to the van and Eagle projects! Good job on that wreck I hope it lives on
FYI you can make a vacuum pump out of an old fridge compressor using nothing but the compressor, a cord end, some hose and an empty glass bottle possible sourced from your liquor cabinet.
Never seen a gm trans with one, they must've been a little more confident lol
@@PoleBarnGarage my 700r4 had one. They are flat though not round like spearker magnets
Heck yeah. You and the boy are doing fantastic. Keep up the great work and I will keep on watching
Hilarious - the car equivalent of Electroboom! Hope you also get a shop heater with the proceeds.
Oh I see the starter solenoid power Wires appear reversed .. like the lightening show as well . I’ve done that a few times lol… Love the channel bud !
I appreciate that bud
Thanks for getting back to me that means a lot to me love your videos God bless 🙏
Wel i do have to admit you did something that no one else would want to do...lol it was good entertainment keep up the good work Cooper...
Get rid of the curse, ready for that van!!
That vice grip Gas pedal would make Derek Proud @Vice Grip Garage nice work Dalton @Pole Barn Garage
Dylan McCool may want that car. Contact him and see if he wants it. He's a mopar guy on youtube located in TN. This car is right up his alley.
Its a shame you didn't get it on the road again though.
Been talking to him
God Bless the person that takes on this project and don’t forget.. “That shit’ll buff out.”
Hey, I used one of those kick down cables on The 1980 F100 I built. It works great.
I noticed the more exspensive Hayden transmission Coolers are still made in the usa The dual and triple core units @Pole Barn Garage
I'll look into that for sure
That Roadrunner reminds me of an old joke:
A Texan visiting a watering hole (aka: a pub) somewhere in NZ: "You know, I've been looking at the size of the land around your houses here and I gotta say that back home I can get in my truck, fire it up and drive all day without getting from one side of my land to the other."
A young Maori bloke (listening to the Texan): "Yeah, I had a car like that once too, eh....."
You got it to move, declared a victory and moving on.....and fair enough too, mate.
1st I love watching the channel to detox from work
2nd if I ever have a chance to buy one of your cars remind me I don’t want to have the next owner problems
I would definitely advise you to do that
I'm sure you can show it on the tube but I'm sure JD has some fun in that field in those old cars himself
One thing About a mopar transmission. They make a wonderful amount of clutch butter.
Keep doing these !! Love the stories!!
Enjoyed great vid!!
Ready for the van content. That thing is awesome!
That is the happiest I've seen you in a long time
.....self clearance.... yes! Is has to wear in before it can wear out!
That's definitely what happened!
That smile on your face during the last joyride was reminiscent of Jack Nickelson in the "shining" that car had you possessed.
Kinda how it felt, too.
Nicholson.
My favorite is when my cigarette ash falls in to what I'm working on...like when I paint stuff. It adds to the surface strength of things.
Indeed
Great content. An haveing your son. Being part of your content. Keep up the great vidios!!!!
This is ganna be someones fun car thats for sure
"I think i cut the wrong side" 😂
“I’m glad it’s right on top.”
That wonderful country "YEE-HAW" was a perfect example of the fun had by just winging it.
Used to love doing this sketchy crap with my dad and uncle.
Awesome video..
🤜💥🖐️🤘them maypops looked good spinning out in the grass
I love watching you're channel I watched the rolled runner all weekend
Awesome thank you!
IT’S ALIVE!!!!
Am I the only person that noticed the 2 rounds of 22LR in the catch pan at 27:54? This raises questions.
I love this channel''" forget the negative naysayers;;, you doing something different by slapping something that came out of hell to going back on the road again! God Bless.....
Can't wait to see the 4×4 van!
Another great video Dalton
Nice...Im currently starting a 68 Roadrunner can't wait to get her done. PPE sounds like you learned that at Vioc....
"Kind of a professional"? Keep them coming Dale. 😆
So glas i found this channel. Been binge watching all the videos.
Awesome!
Sounds MOPAR good. Bo and Luke would approve of spinnin' those tires in a field.
Now we need vice grip garage to drive it home.lol. good job you two !
The Turdrunner lives! Amazing that thing even goes at all. If there was a car that need to be shot and put out of its misery, it's this one hahaha! That being said, thanks Dalton for the videos on this one. Can't wait to see the van and the Eagle next!
You can see on the roadrunner passenger side the wheel is fully up and out of the wheel wheel as the driver side is covering half the firewall
Wheel sidewall, probably the airshocks iirc
I put a 727 behind a first gen 12 valve and have beat the hell outta it for a year now! I didn't think it would last a month lol Those are some tough old transmissions
keyboard mechanic here, forgot the back off X amount of turns step while doing a band adjustment on my C6 and had the same problem. but it's a MoPar product so that automatically means it's going to be difficult and convoluted.
You got that right
C6 adjustment is a piece of cake
