Blomstedt is a phenomenon conducting into his 90s and he never seems to have the notes in front of him, having memorized the major pieces of the repetoire. This Brahms masterpiece requires such strength and delicacy and this grand old sage has nailed it.
Of the 100s of overtures, this is my favourite. Same with the d minor concerto. There's just something about his music....like strong coffee and cigars!
I Love Every Brahms Music!!! And Contcertgebouw is one of the Greatest Orchestras!!! BRAVO!
