Thank you for this video, it’s a great simple pattern that I can use to start getting into tying tube flies, and you clearly show what materials and tools are needed and why. Videos like this are why you are my favorite tying channel!

Beautiful! Once I get the technique down I'm going to try them in some larger sizes for largemouth bass. I think it's going to slay them!

Interesting pattern. I'm a rookie when it comes to tube flies. Was going to ask why you left the bare tail end. As usual, Tim, you covered everything thoroughly.

Best tube fly demo I’ve seen! Pretty fly.

Never seen this before but instantly wanted to tie it when I saw it on my feed. Something about it just says "I catch fish". I don't have any tubes but I think I'll try it on a small shank.

Instead of a tube, would itbwork to tie this on an articulated shank, intruder style?

Great video as usual. Do you use this pattern for trout? I would think it could be a great smallmouth fly.

Not yet Nicole but I would certainly like to. Works great on trout though.

@@tightlinevideo I'm going to tie up some of these to try on Atlantic salmon in the Gaspé. I'll be there in September. :-)

Maybe it's for smallmouth bass - it resembles a soft jerk-bait like I've pulled out of some giant bass around Banks Lake. Now - I just thought - how would you get that fly down 40 feet with fly line and give it the right action? Or maybe it's for Tuna - but it's not big enough. So what is the Little Blue Heron Fly for? I am really curious. : )

Trout, steelhead and salmon mostly but I'm sure it would work on small and large mouth bass as well. I believe the original Heron fly was meant for landlocked salmon. To get the fly down to depth, I use sinking fly lines, sink tips or sinking Poly/Versi leaders. A split shot or two 18" up the tippet from the fly will also work in a pinch. Hope this helps.

Tim I really like this pattern simple and effective! Do you have an bugger patterns for tube flies? Or patterns that use pine squirrel or zonker strips? Thanks again for all your videos they are awesome! Are you going to be at the show this year in Edison?
