This lady should be ashamed for taking this protest to the White House. 3 years is a light sentence for 2 lives. She has no respect for the victims' family. He's lucky he didn't get more than 3 years in a foreign country! A Colorado truck driver initially got 110 years for accidentally killing 4 in an accident (Governor has it reduced to 10 years now). Regardless of what country you live in, the guy in Japan (accidentally) killed 2 people. He only received 1.5 years for each life he took, whereas the driver in Colorado got 2.5 years per victim. BE HAPPY IT WASN'T MORE, LADY!! Even in America, people get punished for accidents that take lives.
This was a vacation, not him being stationed in Japan? Not that it matters, but if this were to happen in US, it's possible it would be manslaughter or reckless behavior and/or endangerment. Unfortunately Americans, especially those in the country with the Navy, have an infamous history of committing crimes in Japan and getting off scot-free due to American government interference. It would be manslaughter, not murder. He should've definitely not gotten behind the wheel IF he knew he was prone to altitude sickness beforehand. Still, If I were him I'd just take the sentence (which is very generous) on the chin to at least somewhat display my remorse for accidentally killing two people.
What about justice for the woman who lost her husband and mother at the same time? And three years for that? We do believe in the separation of powers in Japan. That's called democracy. Japan is not a U.S. colony, Japan is an independent state. I know it's terrible for the family, but three years is nothing for killing two people.
Lt. Alkonis should be held accountable for the deaths of those 2 people in Japan. If he comes home to the U.S, he should serve the remainder of his sentence. If we let him come home and be free, it will set a precedent for a future where people can escape justice by coming home to the U.S.
Altitude sickness? The location where the American killed two Japanese is 300 meters above sea level. If he was sleepy, he must stop a car before he got into an accident, not drive a car. It is an obligation. Rest in peace, two sacrifices. Shame on you, arrogant Americans.

When I was in Japan I believe there was a sign that states about the risk of altitude sickness and warn people to not climb up the mountain if you're not trained for it I believe if you talk to every single person who climbed up a very tall mountain like Everest and stuff they would tell the guy at the same thing check the doctors find out if you have a problem with altitude before tempting fate if he didn't read the warning signs before driving up there it's on him

He's not paying the price, he's paying a very small price, but still wants to negotiate
Very small price to pay. Wife should shut her mouth and pay condolences to victim's family.
As Japanese, this is really disgusting. Even Ridge Alkonis killed two people, his wife does not seem to care about two victims and their family. Shame on them.
100agreed. I hope he enjoys jail in Japan with all the criminals.
@SDS Wow! When did this happened? Because I didn't heard about it.....
He killed 2 people and they're complaining he got 3 years in prison? They should be thankful. You don't get a free pass because of your status. 2 innocent lives were taken due to his actions.
Yeah and sentence wasnt even harsh 🤷🏻♂️
Leave him there 2 people died 3 years is noting
If it was ur kids that died would u want the person that killed them to be out after 3 years 🤔
The wife is delusional. Her husband killed 2 people in a horrific accident. Not once in any interview has she or her husband said I’m sorry for the 2 people who’s lives I took. She is laughing while answering questions for inside edition. I feel for all families involved but doesn’t change the fact he killed 2 lives.
How would it be handled if a foreigner killed a human being here in the United States no different either.
Shame on you for Mrs Alkonis.
the guy was behind the wheel and took two people's lives? I mean, despite it being a medical condition or whatever, he is FULLY responsible for his actions! 3 years is lucky!
Definitely. I don't understand those people. First they expect him to be released because he is American and second why was he behind the wheel if he had that problem with health
If he had altitude sickness he would of noticed the signs early and would of been able to pull over, He just carried on like it was a headache and passed out, which caused 2 deaths while operating a vehicle. Got off lightly if anything he should be thrown into the brig when the shitbag gets back stateside.
So your telling me this woman is getting mad at the people who arrested her husband when he ran over and KILLED 2 people?!??
Think about the poor victims of this very unfortunate event. Think about the victims families of they're tragic loses.
And he only got sentenced to 3 years to jail? Maybe stop being mad and apologize to the victims families.
WHY IS THE WIFE ACTING LIKE HE DIDNT KILL 2 PEOPLE LOL
Cry make you like a victim
His wife dead ass scoffed at the question "Did he fall asleep on the wheel". She's entitled AF
What now, do people who get a stroke, etc in accidents need to be sentenced for murder?
@X Mitril X Yes. It still falls under vehicular manslaughter. The court might grant him mercy but he’ll still be punished.
It doesn't matter
Even in America, people get punished for accidents that take lives.
imagine that. 2 innocent Japanese lives is not even worth 3 years. such great injustice.
Many did not meet the justice they deserved, greatly angering Japan (and anyone with common sense). I can see this guy being used as a figure to show Americans can no longer run around Japan like it's their playground.
Well no, in the US if you did not flee the scene of the accident (if it was truly an accident), you won’t get jail just fine.
So uh let’s forget japan many and harsh war crimes
@@andromedamessier3176 unintentional manslaughter is 8 years
@@johngarcia2368 That's the past, but the USA is doing what the Japanese did in their past. Guantanamo Bay is the equivalent of unit 731. USA invaded over 22+ countries since WW2.
@@hiteshadhikari yes! But if it is truly an accident like the navy claim it is altitude sickness, then the court might take this as consideration.
"I miss him everyday "
Yeah the two he killed never returned to their family.
Two lives? 3 years! He lucked up if you ask me…
Entitlement at its finest
Exactly
法治主義と民主主義が素晴らしく機能している素晴らしい国アメリカ。
This is literally that meme “Free my boy he did nothing wrong”
His boy: Murdered two people
Yeah Japan definitely isn’t Russia, if two people died because of him and he was convicted I doubt it was because of anything corrupt
To be honest, 3 years for ending the lives of 2 people is a light sentence, even if unintentional. Even if he did go unconscious, it’s still unintentional manslaughter.
so if u go unconscious while driving and killed 2 people u would gladly go to prison? yea get real
@@lakerlll1939 I wouldn’t gladly go to prison, I wouldn’t for anything 💀 But I would still be responsible for the death of two innocent people, even if it WAS an accident, you still do time
@@spookyssn no point arguing u would be on the phone rn with ur lawyers begging to not be sent💀 Get real
in america it probably be like 6 years
I thought he was arrested for something minor. He's definitely guilty. Three years is a slap on the wrist.
As bad as it is, 3 years isn’t that bad at all after taking 2 lives. She’ll just have to wait a bit longer.
"Why does daddy have to go to jail" because he killed two people due to his negligence.
Roles reversed, if this wife’s husband was killed by a Japanese visiting tourist and accidentally killed her husband, she wouldn’t for sure not sing the same tune.
Yes but the Japanese would probably walk free in the us
He took 2 lives and got 3 years in jail. So feeling sick is okay with murder
Your husband took 2 life in another country. And you say there’s no crime? Unbelievable.
He deserves to say in prison, if he did that in our country he would’ve still gone to prison for MURDER. He killed people (of course unintentional) we don’t need more murderers here. Keep Griner in prison. Release the convicted felons with marijuana charges in our nation before you get someone with the same charges out of another country. Double Standards Much?!?!?!
AMÉN AMÉN AMÉN!!!!!!!!!!
ok lot to upack here. one, if he did that here it would be either negligent operation of a motor vehicle, or manslaughter, not murder. murder is intentional. two, he passed out, he doesnt deserve to be called a murderer. three, im not sure what pot charges have to do with anything, but you have a point there. and finally, what double standard?
It would be manslaughter, not murder. He should've definitely not gotten behind the wheel IF he knew he was prone to altitude sickness beforehand. Still, If I were him I'd just take the sentence (which is very generous) on the chin to at least somewhat display my remorse for accidentally killing two people.
What about justice for the woman who lost her husband and mother at the same time? And three years for that?
We do believe in the separation of powers in Japan. That's called democracy. Japan is not a U.S. colony, Japan is an independent state. I know it's terrible for the family, but three years is nothing for killing two people.
what?! this women is out of her MIND!!!!!! HE KILLED 2 PEOPLE!! what about the families of the people he killed?? they will never come!! she's nuts
He should not be released, 2 people were killed and its just 3 years he'll live.
3 years is a pretty short sentence considering he killed 2 people regardless lol
異常な夫婦。ありえねー奴だ
3 years isn’t enough!
for real dude. how is this a story at all!?
日本人は今回の件についてこの家族を絶対に許すことは無い
This woman has no respect on other countries law.
It is cruel to think killing two people is not a crime.
The guy litterally killed 2 people!! EVEN if it's accidental, there's a price to pay! It's a miracle he only got 3 years for this!!
3 years is actually not bad at all!! She should be happy, he'll be home in no time!!
日本人の私としてはこの判決結果はとてもやるせない結果でとても悲しい感情と同時に激しい憤りを感じます....
"There was no crime", right he totally didn't kill two people. Got it. Makes a lot of sense.
Yea no he should stay in jail the three years this woman is actually ridiculous
Lt. Alkonis should be held accountable for the deaths of those 2 people in Japan. If he comes home to the U.S, he should serve the remainder of his sentence. If we let him come home and be free, it will set a precedent for a future where people can escape justice by coming home to the U.S.
"Americans shouldn't have to follow laws in other countries. "
.. signed, Alec Baldwin, Will Smith, forrest trump.
Joebama, Obama bin laden, hitlary they’d all be executed for their crimes
Sorry but Even if it was medical, he killed 2 people, some responsibility is needed….
まじで最近のアメリカおかしくねえか?
this is crazy only 3 years???? he deserve more than that.
Altitude sickness?
The location where the American killed two Japanese is 300 meters above sea level.
If he was sleepy, he must stop a car before he got into an accident, not drive a car. It is an obligation.
Rest in peace, two sacrifices. Shame on you, arrogant Americans.
Japanese court: "This man negligently fell asleep behind the wheel and killed two people"
Wife: "Well, actually, he didn't fall asleep, he was distracted."
They should add years to his sentence for the disrespect his wife has shown to the victims family and the country of Japan. Don't cave in to pressure Japan, Stay strong.
why is she just brushing off the fact that he killed 2 people? those people had families too
2 killed, looks like a crime to me. You should not be driving if you're tired in the first place.
Watch the video
@@Wizdows okay and thats still manslaughter
Someone with medical emergencies should not be behind the wheel. Period. If ur prone to seizures don’t get behind the wheel. If u faint bc of altitude sickness don’t get behind the wheel. 3 years is nothing for his negligence he should have gotten more.
And you can just predict when one happens? Like it is a surprise maybe something down the line you didn't know about happens?
I used to have seizures when I was like 5 but it wasn't Grandma seizures, I just zoned out for a couple of seconds but luckily I don't have seizures anymore.
Only 3 years? Dude deserves more
“Was he asleep?”
This clown: “No, he was UNCONSCIOUS”
This clown just admitted that her husband fell asleep while being on the steering wheel
She does realize she just exposed herself right there when she said he "lost Consciousness" meaning he did fall asleep meaning regardless of whatever one it is he still Unintentionally killed 2 people and she thinks being put in prison for 3 years for killing 2 people is unfair wtf?
Keep him in longer! I feel bad about the real victims.
この女は、逆の立場だったらどういう行動をしただろうか?
I think she's jumping on the Brittney Griner trade thing. She wants to do it too. 3 years is an insanely light charge, he should have gotten way more.
3 years in jai lfor killing 2 people! NOWAY!
Aren't these people ashamed?????!! Disgusting.
Totally understandable that it's medical but killing 2 people is pretty bad. The 3 years seems appropriate, its shorter then some soldier's deployment
アメリカでは居眠りで人を2人轢き殺しても罪にならないんですね!
I'm glad a lot of people in here has the decency and common sense to recognize the situation and not support this lady. Her reasoning is so insensitive to the families of the people that died because of his husband's action. The Japanese sentence of 2 years I think is not commensurate to the crime committee. He should have been sentenced to a minimum of 10 years for killing two people!
He probably took some sort of plea to get a sentence that low because the conviction rate in Japan is very high.
3 years for killing 2 people In a foreign country? Let him stay there.
You cant deny white privilege exist😢
Does this wife really have human blood? Why did she kill someone while driving drowsy and was released using state power? The victim's family cannot even talk to the perpetrator who has returned to the United States! The perpetrator's wife tearfully appeared on American television without considering the victim's feelings and complained about her unfair treatment, but the victim's family has not been able to tell anyone about the incident. . Please inform America of the contradictions in this incident. And I want the criminal's family to think more about the feelings of the victim! This wife has no malicious intent, she is an abnormal person who only thinks about themselves and complains on TV!
Add more time for such stupidity
3 yrs for killing people? He should do his time and be thankful. TWO People died. This isn’t a worthy cause to get riled up over. Japan should INCREASE his prison sentence I’d be upset if my loved one died and the person responsible ends up serving only 3 years. I hope they end up increasing his sentence to a minimum of 40! Years 20 for each life lost.
Someone commented that it’s your increase because she’s disrespecting justice and the family with his rally
The problem is 2 people died ....
He is too weak to work for navy, he gets altitude sickness at 300m high.
🤣🤣🤣
You know being an American soldier doesn't save you from the jaws of justice
Bro its only 3 years and even if it was an medical accident he killed 2 people
Just let him serve his 3 years
When I was in Japan I believe there was a sign that states about the risk of altitude sickness and warn people to not climb up the mountain if you're not trained for it I believe if you talk to every single person who climbed up a very tall mountain like Everest and stuff they would tell the guy at the same thing check the doctors find out if you have a problem with altitude before tempting fate if he didn't read the warning signs before driving up there it's on him
and you dont drive afterwards
Sounds like distracted driving while talking to wife and children
She said their 3 kids deserve to have their father to be home ...
How about the 85 year old woman and her son in law? They were going to come home after lunch or dinner to spend their normal everyday evening with family. They do not get to do it again, but this man can come to his wife and kids after 3 years in jail.
