I agree, plus so many rap legends who came up successfully & never ONCE mention or big up names like DJ Hollywood, GM Flowers, Kool Herc, Spy, N Twins, Disco Twins, Fab 5 Freddy, Coke La Rock, Seen, Iz the Wiz, Rock Steady Crew etc. in thier extensive catalog of music or interviews. Yeah we DEF need more hip-hop temples created let alone embracing them.

KRS is lowkey one of the kings of interviews...atleast in these types of space. Hes always quick, straight to the point, and he brings it all full circle rather quick too

Who"s fault is that. The hiphop groups I was down with was the first to talk about taking pills. They tried to walk it back but the damage was perminite 😢.

I love how gracious KRS was with the woman in this interview,he seems like a straight up gentleman. He's my favorite rapper,I never got the chance to meet him but I used to live around the corner from the shelter he lived in when he was homeless. In fact the day the My Philosophy video was filmed a bunch of people in my neighborhood knocked on my door and said that KRS ONE was filming a video and they were letting people fans be in the background. They tried to get me to go to the video set but I said no,I regret it to this day.

as an adult who grew up surrounded in the culture. first as a fan then as a participant it can be hard to relate to todays trends. finding the Book “the gospel of Hiphop” and then tuning into the streams Sunday Mornings has helped me evolve personally and spiritually. highly recommend this path for all of us who came up in the 90’s or before

I love KRS and what he's given hip hop. However, i disagree with his aspect on the youth. Younger hip hop artists and youth in general for the most part do not care about the origins of hip hop nor do they want to hear what the older generation has to say on this subject matter. These new rap artists say it all the time. They do not write, dont care about the subject matter and dont care about the structure or info in what they spit. Its hard to see how we elevate the culture when the youth doesnt want to hear from the music's past generals and commanders but want us to accept their trash music. Its also tough not to hear those who've lead this music be afraid to call this new music out for its nonsense. These new rappers are never putting you on their stuff so dont pander to them.

I STILL put some blame on the youth, because like she said, it's not that they simply don't know...they're PROUD to not know. And that's true, they are. Elders can guide, yes, but they can't hold your hand thru EVERY avenue of life 24/7. At some point, accountability has to be taken. What up, Teacha!!!

To the point they will even wear white heavy metal rock band t-shirts from the 1980s instead of hip hop. The youth walk around with cell phones everyday connected to the Internet and could easily learn out about hip hop history if they wanted to.

The God MC. Back when African American rap artists were all educated. Many of them went to college or had college degrees' and it showed. Especially compared to the drop-out, crime-infested, trash music that is made today.
