  • beadaholique.com/collections/... - In this video, see how quick and easy it can be to create simple wire loops with the new one step wire looping pliers from BeadSmith. This video demonstrates the original 1-Step Looper which creates 1.5mm loops, but these instructions also apply to the 1-Step Big Looper for creating 3mm loops.

    I have the 1.5mm one and like what others have commented, it tends to leave too much space between the bead and loop. To fix that, I bent the rules a bit and pushed the bead forward just a tad farther than what is shown, to the spot just before the pliers starts bending the wire to make the loop. It did the trick. You have to play around with it to know how close you can get without the bead breaking. I just made a necklace and bracelet doing it this way without breaking one bead and I'm pleased with the final product.

    Ok, so, I saw these in "Michael's" the other day and looked up this video to show a friend.
    I do not do much jewelry making so I wouldn't have an immediate use for this, but it is awesome, and does so much in a single actuation, that I would love to buy one just-because.
    But then as we were teasing back and forth it dawned on me that a version of these made for 12 and 10 gauge copper would be AMAZING for electricians !!!!
    Seriously, a tool to make the loop to screw a wire to a fixture?
    THIS I would pay for!
    Immediately!

    These definitely look useful but it looks as if the loops don't come out snug to the bead. There is some space left between the bead and base of the loop. Is there a way to push it up closer when doing it or is that as close as it's able to get?

      @jemka4876 it's definitely not snug to the bead! I discovered this with mine and no one told me, lol. It leaves them loose and moving around! But if you move the bead any closer, you risk scratching, breaking, or chipping your bead. So I find it's best to just make loops by hand tbh

    • @amber0808
      @amber0808 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I am also having the same problem. The loops it makes are nice, but the space between the bottom of the loop and the top of the bead is just a tad too big for my tastes. I've been going through several how to videos and tutorials on using this tool, but no one seems to be addressing this particular problem, so I haven't been able to find a solution either 😔

    Yes, I have also used this tool to make links. You just put the end of a wire into the tool to create an eye pin, then place your bead on the eye pin and put the loose end into the pliers to create the second loop.

    • @psychedelicpython
      @psychedelicpython 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was wondering if it could make an eye pin on each side of the bead. Do you have a video showing how to do that?

      @@psychedelicpython We don't have a video on doing this with the one-step looper unfortunately. The technique is the same as what we described in this old comment though, a link in this context means a bead with eye pins on both sides.

  • @crushed51

    OK as I am VERY new to the hand made jewellery business, this may sound like a daft question, but as the old saying goes, how can you find the answer if you don't ask the question, so, I'm asking. I see you put the bead on the wire first before you make the loop, but what do you do to the wire to stop the bead falling off the other end ?. Do you just curl it, or is there a special procedure ?.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We are using a head pin. Headpins have a rounded or flattened head that can keep a bead from slipping off. You can find our headpin selection here: www.beadaholique.com/beading-components/head-pins-eye-pins

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! I would not recommend this for memory wire. Memory wire is very stiff and could damage the pliers. To finish memory wire, you could try memory wire ends which are glue-on and do not require using pliers or wire wrapping. beadaholique.com/search?type=product&q=memory+wire+ends

      @beadaholique  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are two sizes of one-step looper; the standard size shown here and a big one-step looper that makes larger 3mm loops. Both can handle the same range of wire thickness. The standard model gives you a good average sized loop, that's where I'd start. If you find yourself needing to put it down often to make a lot of larger loops you can always add the big 1-step looper to your toolkit: beadaholique.com/products/beadsmith-1-step-big-looper-plier-makes-3mm-loops-with-26-18-gauge-wire

    What gauge wire is that?

      The BeadSmith 1-Step Looper Pliers bends & trims wire between 26-18 gauge thick. The headpin that was used in this video was 21 gauge: www.beadaholique.com/c-60289-headpins-eyepins.aspx?TH-cam&

    I love the looks of how the tool operates but I only work with sterling silver and that looks to waste my wire more than want to use it. 🥴

      That's totally understandable.

    I want to say that I broke this thing first time using it. It doesn't have instructions or limits on gauge of wire to use with. I used a thick wire for the 3mm tool....it fits the hole but the tool broke on one side. The concept is extremely great...makes a loop well as far as uniform. Made one and broke on the second. The problem is that the tool is made of brittle alloy. It should have been steel or a stronger material for this type of job it does. Everything else is quality. Built is quality. Material, no. Hope the company change the metal in the loop maker. Hope they see this. I would gladly pay $50 for one made of steel or something stronger. They cut corner on the material to churn a profit and they put a patent on it so nobody else can improve on it. Sad.

    specially for $30 plus shipping, they are neat but more than I'm willing to spend for them, just my 2 cents.

      I watched the video and don't care for the 'oblong' shape of the loop - I prefer the round shape. Also, it doesn't close it completely so you still have to manipulate the wire. Myself, I use the Wire Looping Pliers which do the exact same job and give you the circular shape with uniformity, all at the same time!

    They need to go back to the drawing board with this apparatus. Can’t believe after years, no improvement in it. Doesn’t make straight loops and they’re never closed.

    My *only* complaint is that it’s designed for right-handers. If you’re a leftie, using it will be awkward, but probably doable.

    DRAG back, not DRUG back. Fix your English. You only have to learn one language and cannot get it right. No excuse for sloppy speech.
    This was a good demo, but... $46 + $5 tax = $49 for a tiny tool made in China, and it doesn't even close the loop tight? Outrageous and ridiculous!

    ugly, big loops. With tool you should be able to do delicate loops.
