Just made these waffles today. Pro tip: transfer about 1/4 of the dough into a bowl and add lemon juice or aroma to it. When the bowl is empty put another 1/4 of the dough into the bowl and add some cinnamon. With the next 1/4 add some cocoa. You get the point. These are a LOT of waffles and as good as they are you'll get sick of them eventually. Mixing things up a bit and making different types in one go really helps with that
We take waffles seriously in our house th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUfphIgghPSpAXNq6OG2WRYsFVqylcqMn and worked our old one through many years of Sunday brunches till it finally gave out on us. Our old one only made two at a time, this one makes four! Nicely sized 1 inch thick which are lovely! Now the kids don't have to wait as long to eat our weekly waffle breakfast and everyone's are hot if we wait and eat all together! Setting 3 seems to work perfect for golden brown. Be sure to pour the batter in the center of each waffle square, not the center of the iron like the novice that posted the scorched waffles photo. About a 1/4 to 1/3 cup of batter in each seemed to work well for us. We tested making just one at a time so we could use all the remaining batter and it made it just as fluffy and golden as when we made 4!
Just did a trial run of a "half batch" to break in my new Cuisinart belgian waffle maker (gotta love black friday sales lol). Where this scaled down recipe purportedly makes 20 waffle squares, I got 12 big fat, fluffy, perfectly cooked squares at about 15g protein each. I did use both whey and casein powder, but unflavored, and added a tsp salt as I wanted a more savory result, and as I wanted a bit more fiber subbed 20g oat bran for 20g of the oat flour. Excellent, perfect texture, will be making these regularly!
I was searching for a comment like this one. Please guide me, I wanted to to this recipe but I saw the flavoured protein powders and I step back, because of the artificial sweeteners. So how did u managed using unflavoured, isnt going to taste worst than with sweeteners? how would you compensate and make them healthy sweet? And why yours have lower protein than the video?
@@TheMaximer16 First, I didn't want the sweetened/flavored protein powders because I cannot tolerate artificial sweeteners such as aspartame that are added to them. I intended my waffles to be eaten with savory toppings such as beans and salsa, cheese, or whatever anyway, so I used unflavored/unsweetened protein powders, and doubled the salt (IIRC he called for 1/2 tsp, I used 1 tsp, still not a lot). As for the protein, my waffles are larger because they're "belgian" waffles, the really thick kind, and the batch where he gets 40 waffles I get 24-28 of them, so closer to 15g than the 9g that he gets in his. Hope this helps!
Thats fantastic. I used to eat alot of NÄNO protein pancakes when I lived in my country, I haven’t seen them in the country I live in now. But miss having a grab and go option like the pancakes as I am a bit of a lazy eater. But the pancakes were 15gr protein per pancake, wich is exactly the amount i try eat each meal.
Its not that particular cup, but my wife has a 20+ year old set of McDonalds Hercules (the movie) plastic plates. Over time several broke, and we went on ebay to get new mint conditions ones to just open and use.
These are delicious. We made a batch about a month ago (got 42 waffles out of the batch) and are about to make a second batch - we are down to 1 left in the freezer. If you happen to be following WW (weight watchers), these calculate to 1 point for each waffle. We especially like these as a snack, toasted, with low sugar jam or peanut butter.
Would love to see a 6 month snack city/meal prep rotation video or day/month in the life... I love your videos and am trying to determine how to effectively implement most of these things into my life and I feel like a video example would be helpful

I've been preparing these waffles for over a year now, and so far, the best recipe I've found. All ingredients and quantities are spot on. It did however took me some time to find the right amount of time I should leave the batter in the waffle maker for them to turn out right. Kudos for this great recipe ;)

Ok, just bought the food vacuum kit, thanks for the referral code. I’ve been watching your videos, great stuff, and love the high protein options as I’ve just started a mid~life exercise routine with my son and trying to show him how to be healthy, and trying not to literally get sick of the usual high protein meals like scrambled eggs, and oatmeal coming out of my ears. People don’t realize eating a high protein healthy diet isn’t easy, your body literally starts to rejects the same foods after a while. Please make more of these great recipes, they help people, including me stay on a healthy program without gagging every time they have to eat breakfast…👍😊
Thank you for this recipe! These waffles are amazing and they smell so good cooking, my whole place smells like vanilla right now. I am going to try your other recipes too ❤️
Great starting recipe. I did not have casein and instead used collagen powder and added some hemp heart seeds as well. They were fine! Delicious even. Add a little salt- this makes everything taste just a little better as well as a splash of vanilla extract. I also just put a blob of thickened batter on my iron and it squishes out into the nooks and crannies (but I’m not fussy about perfect shapes and I know some are). There is some room for adaptation of this recipe to suit what you have in the kitchen. Even without the casein this is the best recipe I’ve used yet for protein waffles.❤
Josh I just wanted you to know that I am SO gratefull, I hope you know you're doing God's work giving us so much of your meal prep experience for free, thank you so much
In total you get the combined protein/carb content, but the fact that you have to keep diluting the mixture means that the latter waffles will have less of each. Unless I'm mistaken.
Love this recipe, modified it a bit slightly by replacing half oat flour with keto wheat flour, But totally awesome, adding some peanut butter and honey makes these awesome.
I agree on casein being necessary for flavor. I have some chocolate protein powders from _the same brand_ , 1 whey, and 1 casein. It's night and day how much richer and more chocolatey the casein powder is compared to the whey.

Thanks for this great recipe, I made it this weekend and it was delicious. Do you have a recommendation for a corn starch substitute as it’s not very diabetic friendly, possibly almond flour and a little hair gum maybe? Also I just bought the vacuum sealer using your code. Can’t wait to try it out.

As you add more water, you change the macros. Would be a solution to mix, let it sit, add water, let it sit, and repeat until the dhough is not thickening up anymore, and start baking only then? Thanks!
40 waffles?? I have the same size waffle iron you do, using the very close to exactly the same amounts and I have 28 waffles here. I wonder how much water you were adding to that batter?? I added maybe half a cup in total to maintain consistency. I didn't see a need to put much in there, and I was reluctant to dilute the flavor with water. They're also taking 10 minutes for me instead of 3-4, which I know isn't your fault, since we both can't tell what temperature these things are at. Overall though, they taste great!! It's sooo easy. Definitely doing this again and again, though maybe next time I'll up the amount of ingredients to get closer to that 40 count.
Ok so I've mixed all the dry ingredients... what if I don't want to cook 40 in one go would I be correct in thinking I can add 14g of the dry mix , 75g yoghurt , 15g egg 6g water (per waffle) , am gonna try it out 🙏

If all we have is plain whey protein, about how much sugar substitute should we add to make up for the lack of sweetness? Also, can we just sub more whey instead of casein?
Pro tip for anyone who doesn't have vacuum sealed bags readily available: You can "seal" a regular ziplock bag by simply closing it 99% of the way (leaving a corner of the bag unzipped) putting your lips against the hole you didn't zip up yet, sucking all of the air out, and quickly sealing the rest of the bag before any air has time to get back inside🤣 I know it sounds funny but it works lmao. It'll look like any other vacuum sealed baggie. Stick it in another ziplock and repeat for good measure.
I have been doing that for the longest time now. Another pro tip is to use a straw.. slide the straw into the bag where you have left it still opened, or unzipped, and suck out the air as you gradually pull the straw out and seal the bag at the same time. This helps you get the air that can sometimes be trapped at the lower part of the bag.
there is any kind of protein that i can use instead of casein? i know that you said we can't use 100% whey, but i wonder if we can substitute caseine for another protein.
I made these today, recipe to the tee but decreased my ingredients down to make 20 waffles using the recipe calculator. I was only able to make 11 waffles (4.5x4.5in each). so i guess my waffles are 18 grams of protein each. i ain't complaining
